The variety of file managers for Mac is now at its peak and it's not difficult to find an excellent alternative to Finder because sometimes working with Finder can be uncomfortable, especially when you are tired of creating and switching between tabs and want to manage a lot of actions just by using hotkeys and experience a convenient two-panel interface. Then you should definitely try the Commander One file manager and FTP client for Mac.
The interface of the application is made with the neatness and oriented to ordinary users of Mac computers. All the main functions are available with one click of the mouse and you can get used to them in a matter of hours.
Now for the functions themselves. Their variety in Commander One is so great that even a few reviews will not be enough to list them completely. Therefore, we will limit ourselves to the description of the main ones.
Commander One allows you to work with files with maximum convenience, after all, this is a file manager for Mac. Despite the fact that there are only two panels in Commander One, the number of folders with which the user can work in active mode is unlimited. Open as many folders as you like, move files between them, use archive utility Mac solution for files that you definitely won't need in the near future - all this without tedious switching between windows and attempts to arrange all the necessary folders on the desktop.
Commander One will become the best friend of iPhone and iPad owners. Right on one of the Commander One panels you can access your device's User / Media folder to quickly navigate or view recently captured photos and videos. In addition to iPhone and iPad, Commander One recognizes other devices, including a photo/video camera or Android smartphone.
Integration with cloud storages like Dropbox, Google Drive, Backblaze, Box, Amazon S3, etc and ability to work as Mac FTP client. Commander One users can instantly go to their network storage and work with files located in it without interrupting their work with the Mac file system.
Mac Terminal emulator. An incredibly useful addition for savvy Mac users. Thanks to it, you no longer need to waste time launching the "Terminal" as a separate application - it will be available directly from Commander One.
The application can satisfy the needs of both savvy users, including administrators and programmers, and the most common Mac owners. Of course, Commander One also has some disadvantages, but the developers have shown with their latest updates that they are not going to stop there.

Remember folks, this is not a review. This is an ADVERTISEMENT. This channel, Electronic Team, Inc, is the developer beihind Commander One. So of course they''re biased.

Self employed small business owner. Windows 10 drove me to installing Linux on my road laptop and to an iMac for my desktop. I was so frustrated with Finder that I would have pitched the iMac out the window but I still need to print out the odd thing. Commander one (free version) has transformed the iMac into a more suitable business computer.

Transmit and Forklift are FTP clients not Finder replacements. Pathfinder is a Finder replacement

I've been looking for a Directory Opus clone-of-sorts since Finder is....like Explorer; junk. I'll give Commander One a try. Appreciate the video.

This saved my ass when it came to a day I took my macbook out and forgot my glasses. The simple feature of changing the colours and increasing the font size mean't I was still able to easily copy my clients data from my mac to their portable without having to look closely at the screen and get "computer" eyes. Its now my go to, and I will be paying for the pro version a bit further down the track just to thank the developer.

Great Program. Found this video, and I have a 2TB Flash Drive which is my main mac hard drive. I have what I call cold storage which is a 8TB drive with all my project files, courses, media, etc in it. CommanderOne makes it a breese to free up space on my Flash Disk as I view and move files from Flash to Cold Storage. Only used it for 15 minutes, but it managed to free 50GB of diskspace. It is definitely a gomechanger.

It's funny, I had a Mac Laptop in the 90s. My company luckily paid for it, it was $5000 at the time. Expensive and frustrating. I decided to give Apple a try again last year. I bought an expensive MacBook Pro, with added bells and whistles, making it more expensive. I forgot how terrible and unintuitive Apple's file management protocols are. I got an appointment with some Apple Store Geniuses at three different locations. When I asked each the question "how do I make it so I can more easily find the documents I was working on for my Master's thesis," they each looked at me blankly. The one in Delaware told me that Mac is very easy, and the most intuitive. I asked where the file was that I had created that morning. She couldn't find it. This wasn't a game, I genuinely wanted to know because I had a deadline. That's a very long way of saying thanks for steering me toward something more useful than Mac's terrible file management/organization system.

    Pretty Cool find! :-)
How about us who have been with FileZilla for a long time and we have multiples servers and want to switch to Commander One, how can the exported settings be imported into Forklift?

Coming from Windows the dual pane file manager on MacOS all look like childsplay compared to Directory Opus. Since I made the switch to macOS now I will go with Commander One but as for features and functionality this is still lightyears in the past compared to Directroy Opus.
