Good news for Celebrex users

A large study trying to determine a link between the anti-inflammatory drug Celebrex and heart problems has concluded. The results of the study have shocked doctors, but in a good way. Dr. Jon LaPook has more.

I have horrendous arthritis in my lower back but the VA in Louisville will NOT prescribe Celebrex. They said they never have and never will prescribe Celebrex. I turned 71 today and my health is terrible; so I am not concerned as much about longevity as I am about quality of life. My pain becomes almost unbearable some days. I want some amount of pain relief, and who gives a damn if the medication is "dangerous"?

@@mosesreza510I got no relief from ibuprofen, meloxicam, or indomethacin. I was prescribed celebrex today. My fingers are crossed. I hate that they won’t give me an opioid! It’s just that bad!

I take this as a part of my chemo treatment for brain cancer , and the fact that it helps my headaches is icing on the cake. I think that all medications have pros, and cons. And as with other meds, they should be acknowledged by those taking the meds, just as there’s a surgeon general’s warning on cigarettes. People are aware, but continue to smoke. As long as people know the consequences, things like these shouldn’t be banned.

I’m taking Celebrex 100 mg 2Xs day, within a week my pain has decreased, noticeably.
I was taking 4, 500 mg aspirin daily.
And PM ibuprofen before bed.
Anacin, ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, Tylenol didn’t help.
Nor did aspirin 500, but took the edge off some.
Celecoxib/Celebrex is a miracle.
Depression, pain was wearing me down, giving up. I’m so tired of the pain, not living.
Side effects?
I’m 70 & choose quality of life.
We should be able to decide.

Recently found out that marijuana roots contain two anti inflammatory agents that medical marijuana folks just throw out because no THC. If its legal as medicine, why are they not utilizing known medical agents from the plant? Ibuprofen is so harsh

I have been prescribed this twice. Once two weeks ago. It upsets my guts so much I can't keep taking it. It's also very hard to get off of. One side effect listed is Brain lighting. Not sure I want to deal with that. It just has too many bad side effects for my body to use. It's not without risk and does not solve the underlying condition.

Here in Portugal we buy celebrex without prescription. It is about 5 € a box with 20 pills. My mother fills better with it.
