Eigenständiger geht es kaum: Kvelertak spielen ihren ganz eigenen Mix aus Hardcore, Black Metal und Rock'n'Roll, singen auf Norwegisch und sind trotzdem international erfolgreich.
Für einen harten Wind in der Metal-Szene sorgen seit 2007 die energiegeladenen Männer von Kvelertak aus dem norwegischen Stavanger. Schon mit ihrer ersten Demo erreichte die Band eine gewisse Bekanntheit. Sie wurden im Radio gespielt und hatten schnell einen sehr guten Ruf als Liveband.
2010 erschien ihr gleichnamiges Debütalbum. Danach ging es für den Sechser direkt auf Europatour mit den Rockern von Kylesa. 2013 erschien Kvelertaks zweites Album "Meir" und schoss auf Platz 1 der norwegischen Albumcharts. Kurz darauf erhielt die Band den norwegischen Grammy, den Spellemannprisen, in der Kategorie "Metal".
Als wäre das nicht schon genug an Lorbeeren, kam 2017/2018 der endgültige Ritterschlag: Die Metal-Titanen von Metallica nahmen Kvelertak in ihr skandinavisches Vorprogramm auf. Im Sommer 2018 nahm der langjährige Sänger Erlend Hjelvik den Hut, um seine Solokarriere zu verfolgen. Sein Nachfolger ist Ivar Nikolaisen.

Great band, always loved that energy.
Cologne once again proves to be Europe's best concert city, but Kvelevertak also contributes a little. The guys are just so amazing. Kudos also (as usual) to the production that makes this sound like a record

So traurig was aus der Band geworden ist........echt bitter. Waren das noch geile zeiten als Erlend Hjelvik die scheisse gerockt hat. So sad what has become of the band......really bitter. Those were great times when Erlend Hjelvik rocked the shit.
