I can't swim even a 10th of that distance. Can run only 1km can and barely push my bike up a hill. Athletes who are able to pull off things like that have my respect.
You'd be surprised how fast you can improve. I couldn't swim 25m without getting out of breath. One year later, I routinely do 2000m workouts in the pool. You can do it, if you dare to "tri" haha
This week I cycled 35 km, then went for a swim of maybe half a kilometer and went for a walk of 8 km the day after. I was totally devastated. And I didn't even look close as good :D
Obviously Yuliya was taking it very easy. It is all nice and all but it seemed the video was really focused on their social interaction and not really the gap in fitness or efficiency in the sport. Would have been more visual to shoot without transitions, racing on distances and restarting together for each of the leg. A pool, a velodrome and a track would have allowed the two women to start at the same time, be in the same shot and, well ...finish at very different times. Probably a 20min difference average on each leg of the race.
To put it short: Even if you are a serious (but non-Olympian) athlete, they will simply own you without breaking a sweat :D We are after all talking about the 20 - 30 best athletes of their sport in the entire world!
CatcherOfBass My friend did exactly that. He went from bodybuilding to running Ironman triathlons. He lost like 8lbs of muscle, but is still pretty shredded.
CatcherOfBass just like me.. I thought bodybuilding was fun, until I realised it is the same thing over and over. I prefer losing some unnecessary muscle and to gain endurance and agility.
Tomas Azevedo I think there is a place for both tbh. 😊 You just need to find the perfect balance to make it work for you. I lift weights, run, swim, and do lots of calisthenics throughout the week.
Triathlon suits are made to dry very quickly. They are dry after a few km's into the bike. As for the no sock thing, I always stop in transition and put socks on...so it's a personal preference I suppose for the average people like me! lol
Bodyglide! (I guess it depends on where you're having issues, but hey.. if you wear a wetsuit you're probably putting on tons of bodyglide anyway, might as well hit the thighs/lats/whatever too) Also, you can get tri-specific shoes that have lots of airflow and work well without socks. Once you're on the bike a few minutes your feet are dry anyway. I think lots of people still take the time to put on socks for long stuff like Ironman though.
You tuber should have focused less on looking cute and wear a proper triathlon suit, or at least a sports bra. Her back and chest must have been in so much pain!
Thats how you are supposed to breathe in long distance events, even 800m swimmers breathe every 2nd stroke. Its only for very short distances where every ms counts that you don't want to waste time to increase drag by breathing
I've been training bodybuilding for the past two years and I think it's pointless. Triathletes max out stamina, and moderate in speed where bodybuilding turns you into a pillar of meat that can't move. It's pointless
Watch season 2 now on the Olympic Channel! bit.ly/2GuxUvm

Yet* If you want to, it's a very suitable distance to train for. =]
oliver wan How long can you tread water?
progressive overload...

You are super unfit if you can only run 1km. Also swimming for 1h is quite easy, the key is to be fast yet preserve your strength.
Whoever loses, we all win.
Yeah my man

I want to train for triathlon now. Been doing some research, and yes! I'M IN!

Simon Frederic because the gap is way too large I guess.
Yeah this whole series seems to be a bit fluff. They're all like that. Heavy on style, light on information.
To put it short: Even if you are a serious (but non-Olympian) athlete, they will simply own you without breaking a sweat :D We are after all talking about the 20 - 30 best athletes of their sport in the entire world!
This video makes me want to train for a triathlon now. Bodybuilding is pointless. lol

HeWhoChills I completely agree with you. only lifting weights is not fun and funcional as mixing it with cardio and other sports
CatcherOfBass lol
These people's greatest talents are their determination
Awww she seems so nice and supportive, all of them so far hehehe like the fencing french guy, i forgot hehehe
I wouldn't have even made it out of the gym to do the swim. Triathletes are just crazy fit.
Can you guys please do one with Tae Kwon Do?
why does this channel have so many subscribers but few views?
Because the Olympics is relevant every 4 years
Kermit DF the video have been published today ... late it a little time ...
Percy Jackson but still this is in 1.6 million peoples subboxes
the olympic channel should do one of rowing
Would love to train with Yuliya :-) Great motivator to catch her!
would love to see how the Brownlee brothers train for their triathlon competition!
Great video!
Yuliya is one very strong woman.. mind and body!
Thanks for this :) i appreciate it
Isn't it be uncomfortable to be wet and run without socks on

Knuxiefan that is part of the point of it! Fitness youtuber vs olimpian...
Susana doesn't seem to be much of a fitness star.
she's a cutie :)
And looks quite fit unlike some other athlete that only focus on one sport.
I always tell to my triathletes friends: "you are all crazy!".
All of the city-view bits are from Kiev though, not Zhytomir.
I thought the pillar looked familiar!
Susana es una genia
Can you do a hockey player next please?
Yuliya is so charming! And FIT
she's quite cute
She didn’t do the 10km with the Olympian.
Awesome!
They're too many accents in this video
There are English subtitles available too. Maybe this can help with the accents.
Tommy Keogh Haha. Olympic responded!!
lol I have a triathlon tomorrow 😂
Spanish girl makes is awkward.
why do you think?
hi olympic
I can swim that fair and run that far
Susana hasn’t mastered freestyle breathing, by the looks of things. She’s breathing on every second stroke. Jheeeze.

Why didn't they kiss at the end of the "race"? So disappointing!
i didn’t know you could go for a swim and come out completely dry🤔
DO WRESTLING
COOOL
100Th......................
Can you do a video about finswimming ?
But it is not in Olympic Games ! I would like to see about this
How about this one: bit.ly/2eT7w0C ?
2:40 ;)
Susana's fitness clothes and swimsuit is a bit inappropriate for me.
jeanettelola1 MSP don't over react :') she's not a swimmer. Why would she have proper training gear
