    It doesn't matter to be christian-catholic, atheist/agnostic (as in my case) or anything else, that's not the point. Externally is beautiful and you understand the magnificence but what really is impressive is inside; there are some of the most wonderful masterpieces that man ever create, you are surrounded by beauty, the first time I entered I wondered about who and how could have created something like that.

      @@estherkisob9919 Rome is and will allways be the Ethernal City of the Western Civilization. It has nothing to do with God and the Bible in first place, but God blessed it with the apostles speech and word and made it the way for the buinding of all the western christianity. So yeah, Rome is eternal, it was born pagan and it was made the light that brought the christian faith for all the western world, including all the protestant countries that would never ever knew the gospel if the Roman Empire did not existed before. Who were those who accepted the world of the apostles? Those were the greeks and the romans, not the hebrews. So all the western christianity are a heritage from the old Roman Empire. Yes totally agree, this is the reason for basilicas, it's to move people's hearts towards the majesty of God with all His creation, as broken down with our daily problems as we are, that we become mystified when we describe the awe and joy after the encounter and a divine experience, and we gain the strength to resolve to problems surrounding us, even if it does not get directly resolved, our burdens get lighter at least whenever we start our day (a reset). I still believe even temples and all other religious buildings emit this same energy of calmness and the Buddhist or Shinto shrines also give that subtle breeze of the sense of belonging to the harmony with nature, and everyone from all walks of faith can relate even if we each have a different understanding of the cosmos. In any case, all places of worship are beautiful and awe-inspiring when there's an order of balance within a person and the silence of the body, mind, heart, and soul, while still being present to serve God or one's deity with doing good to others.

    • @tfuji82132
      @tfuji82132 2 года назад +4

      @@TheOrable5135 I am not religiously attached, but I understand that buildings and premises such as churches, temples, and shrines are sacred places and should be respected, even if we believe in different religions. The silence and atmosphere you feel when you enter such a sacred place must be some kind of energy given by God or Buddha.

      as it was the most important building at that time, they could have completed it even in less than 80 years, but something went on the opposite direction: Rossellino's foundations were a really big problem. Bramante's sack walls got build very badly and many years have got spent to fix his negligence. Raphael's project expanded even more the enormous original project. Antonio da Sangallo wanted to have an even bigger project so he could get more money in time. Michelangelo was the first to lead a smart and fast project but Pirro Ligorio got in his way. Giacomo dalla Porta included some strange geometry in some domes. Carlo Maderno expanded and ruined the beautiful idea drawn by Michelangelo. Bernini's bell towers damaged the facade's structures. Very complicated contract as you can see

    Fantastic filming. Many thanks and congrats! Wonder how it'll look if a drone is flown and capture the view at near=ceiling level. That's reminds me of a scene in the movie The English Patient.

    It is a wonder. You tell yourself those who have built it have certainly witness a wonder and they intended to translate it through what they do and how they do it. The ceiling, the marble of the floor, etc are true wonders.
    It tells you also about the sense of the aesthetic that has characterized the society. Because when you walk the streets in Roma you can imagine how great that city has been. And when you see the train station in Milan called Centrale you can come to the conclusion of a sense of aesthetic that has cultural dimension as highlighted by the story of the workshops of Verrocchio centuries ago where high skilled sculptors, artists, etc are trained
