Not Michael, This is Bree: Finally someone who takes the time to explain how to properly do the crocodile stitch! i have been watching tutorial after tutorial on how to do this stitch but none of them made sense and when i saw this tutorial i figured id just skip over the bootie part and see if i can understand your explanation and i could, i now have successfully started making a pair finger-less pair of gloves for my niece with this stitch that you so carefully and clearly explained how to do, so THANK YOU. and i just might be back to try to make the booties as well for my best friends baby.
Your tutorial for this crocodile stitch is by far the easiest I have seen. I followed another lady on the same stitch pattern who had you do more stitches only to get the same results. I like yours far more, its easier and uses less yarn. You take your time explaining each stitch process while showing as you count - that helps a lot. Thank you
I understand about making the shoe bigger. But how many of sc or hdc rows do you need to make the shoe for a one-year old? Also, how do you make the difference between right and left? The one you are demonstrating looks to be a left shoe. Do you just reverse your instructions? I’ve made these before, but nobody has told me if they fit or not.
Your the best! I have been wanting to make these for the longest time. The other tutorials were very difficult to follow. Yours was perfect! You probably would never realize this but you have added an extra income to my single parent home. I will be forever grateful for this...so thank you from the bottom of my heart!
+Peacemaker Logic Thank you very much!! I totally understand how you feel, things are very difficult here in Greece too!! Wishing you the best my dear! :)
I'm always the observer and NEVER the commenter, but you have to give credit where it's due and Ms. Kiki Crochet, this tutorial was spot on. Clean video, great explanation and overall, Ahhh-Mazing. I made a pair of these for my best friend's baby girl and she is super excited to receive them. Thanks for a great tutorial. Two Thumbs Up!!!
This was the best tutorial I've seen on the crocodile stitch! I appreciated how you taught the 'decreasing' part too. Your instruction was very easy to understand. Thank you!
Hi.. Though I knew the basics of crocheting, I am very new to crocheting boots. Started it only recently after my baby girl entered my life. So yes, I had to pause the video multiple times because I am very slow. But I did manage to make these in the first attempt itself and they have come out so beautifully. Thank you so much for this video. Lots of love from India.
Thanks you very much for this tutorial. I love the booties! I am left handed and I had to make it in reverse. I made notes and am going to work it out for left handed people who have dificulties. As soon as it is ready I will place it on RUclips.
thanks you for a brilliant tutorial. I watched the whole tutorial before starting, taking notes of your hints and good advice and then got started. They turned out brilliantly. Thanks again
Im a self taught crochet since 6 dec 2016. This is such a great tutorial, i just cant believe it that i can make one. Im so happy with it. Thank u so much!!!
I love this design and you're a born teacher. Thank you so much for sharing these. I've made them for my grandchildren who are between the two sizes you've shown us. Because you have explained everything so carefully and completely, I've been able to customise the sizing. Thank you again! x
Thank you so much for your tutorials I love the booties you make. I bought a pattern from someone and it was so very disappointing. I love your work, your sole is easy to follow and turns out beautiful. I hope to find more English tutorials. I'm very excited to learn all you have to show.
+Elaine Beard Thank you very much Elaine!!! I have a playlist with all the english tutorials I have done so far. Here's the link: ruclips.net/p/PLwiXpNNZMmOTdf_SEO1rxSO3hQeUzdpE7
I've only been crocheting for about 4 months, so was not sure I'd manage these wonderful boots. I've just finished one and found the tutorial very easy to follow. Thank you so much for the clear instructions and for sharing your skills 😀
thanks for the tutorial Ive been having problems doing booties and the crocodile stitch was a challenge for me but as I crochet more I learned it. I was like anamaria Leo a year ago I couldn't understand it so I left it alone revisited it this year and got it.
girl, you saved me!!! I couldnt for the life of anything find a nice tutorial for this. you know, with the seasons changing, I really need to do this for my 6month baby boy :')
Absolutely love this video. I bought a pattern to make these but couldn't get my head around the written instructions. I followed your video step by step and they came out perfect. I think I might have learnt enough now, to try the purchased pattern.
+timtamgal Thank you very very much!! I'm very glad you were able to follow the video, I understand that crocodile stitch is kind of difficult, especially when your trying to make sense out a written pattern! I learned my self this stitch, out of videos, too! :D
Excellent tutorial! I wrote down the pattern using my own instructions so I can now make more of them. I really appreciate the detail you went into. My booties turned out beautiful. They completed my set of blanket, hat,and booties in white and mint green for newborn baby girl. Used all new patterns for each item and am so pleased how everything turned out. Again, thank you.
Would you email me the written instructions? I would do much better with a written pattern. I get lost in her video.. Nothing she is doing wrong.. I just have a lot if distractions right now..
I wrote down my own as well just now to figure out the information I needed and did not need.. She gave extra information which confused me more than helped me. Once I filtered out the information I needed it became super easy.
I am new at the shoe making, have watched this over several times and had started over several times. My boot doesn't look like yours. I know I will get this and you are very good on instructions for this. I cant wait to get mine to look like yours. :)
+Reba Clevenger I know that the crocodile stitch is one of the most complex stitches because you have to have a certain number of multiples and because you have to make many stitcheis in order to cretae just one crocodile stitch!!! I remember my teacher always said to us "Practice makes perfect"!!! What you vae to be aware is that in order for each "leaf" to come in between the two "leaves" from the previous row, you have to make 2 double crochet on every stitch that you had one dc in the previous row, and one dc on every stitch that you had 2 dc in the previous row (that would be in the middle of each crocodile stitch). It might help if you try and work your crocodile stitch in straight rows, so you get used to on how to make the stitch, and then try to apply it on the bootie! I hope this works out for you soon!! If you have any questions I would be more than happy to help!!!
This is the best tutorial of how to do this stitch. Thanks so much. I was struggling with some written directions, you made it so easy. My niece asked for a pair of these for her baby due in December. Thanks again.
+Alice Darbandi Thank you so much!! I'm very glad you found the tutorial to be helpful!!! Good luck and I'll more than happy to answer any questions!! :)
love this pattern!! Thank you! Suggestion though, when you are changing colours, instead of sewing them in at the end you can hold the tails up against post 2 and while going up you can wrap the dc's around the tails along with the post - that way you don't have to do extra work later :) I realized that once I was on the 2nd row of crocodile stitches on the 2nd bootie lol
thank you for this video - I have trouble with crochet booties as I always have problems with the sole. You have a nice way of explaining the pattern :)
Thank you! It is such a clear tutorial and easy to follow I made a pair while watching your video and they are adorable. I could watch you crochet all day! You have such wonderful control. I'm going to practice holding my hook like you do. Would you consider doing a short tutorial on how you hold your yarn and hook?
Thank you very much, Judy!! That would be a wonderful idea, for a video! I find out that many people have problem holding the hook and yarn in a way that would help them crochet faster and easier!! :D :D
I love this tutorial! It was so easy to follow. I make a lot of amigurumi but I find patterns hard to read so I usually just wing it haha. But this is the first pair of booties I've made and I'm so happy with them. The crocodile stitch is new to me too. Perfect tutorial :)
Thank you very much!!! I'm glad that you were able to follow the video!! The only amigurumi that I've made is a bunny, I think I don't have that much of patience to do a more complex project! :P :P
Beautiful booties! Thanks for sharing and your time, your instructions are very clear and concise instructions that anyone can follow. Again absolutely Beautiful 🖒💖👏👏👏🌷😍
Love this tutorial and trying to adjust it for my 2.5-year-old granddaughter I am a beginner and would very much appreciate any advice on increases to fit her. TIA
+Jody Anderson Thank you very much!! What I would do, because if you crochet with a smaller hook the bootie immediately stops being fluffy and soft and less flexible, I would make a smaller chain. The difference is that you would have less sc in the middle and in the 3rd row, you would make the amount of sc you had in the middle for rows 1 and 2 plus 5, then you would make your increase in the nxt 3st, and then again to finish the row you would make the same amount of sc you did in the beginninhg of the row and in the last 2st you're going to make the last 2 increases. So lets say for example you start with 9 chains, that means that you're going to have a total of 8 st to work with, from those 8st the first and last is where you make your increases which leaves you with 6st in the middle, so for the 1st and 2nd row you have 6sc and then 6hdc, and then in the 3rd row you will start with your increase as always and then you'll make the amt of st in the middle +5, so it's going to be 6 +5 = 11 hdc, then the increase on the toes and then again another 11hdc and you increase at the end! And when you do your decreases you have to have the correct multiple for the crocodile stitch, if you have more or less stitches at the end of your decreses make an extra row to adjust and then start making your crocodile stitches! :)
Best instructions ever...i was finding it really difficult to follow in some other language...This is very clear instructions...i will definitely try this one...thank u so much kiki😍😘
wonderfully clear instructions however the double crochet is treble & the single is double to me being in the UK! apart from that brilliant thanks so much for doing this my first pair are lovely x
+Mandy Morley Thank you very much! I'm glad you found the video helpful , aside from the differences in the names of the stitches.. I've learned how to crochet mostly from American videos that's why I call the stitches like that!! :D :D
I just found your video tutorial for the adult size crocodile stitch booties, but it won't play😩 I was so excited when I found it! I've been looking for these for over a year now. Would you please check into it for me? I really need this tutorial! Thank you Sooo much for all of your tutorials! You're awesome!
Great tutorial! I've made the booties and now want to make some toddler ones but there isn't a video for them. So I bought your patterns from Craftsy. They are different to how you do it in the videos. Help! I like the video way but don't know how to increase the stitches for the sizes I need.
Hello!!! I don't sell any written patterns, so that's perhaps someone elses written pattern. I do explain in the beginning of the video how you can adjust your beginning chain in order to make different sizes. :D
I must say this is the best tutorial ever!! You showed every step from beginning to end and more. Totally appreciate your time and posting this. Thank you!! . I made one shoe, now to work on the other one. However mine seem a bit smaller than 9-12 month old. Maybe my tension was too tight?? What's your advice on getting the pair of shoes to come out the same size??
Thank you very much!!! In order for the shoes to come the same size you have to crochet with the same crochet hook ans similar size yarn as I do, and of course as you mention you have to be careful the tension. What you can also do, because many times even though we crochet the same stitches in both shoes we have a different result, one looks bigger the other smalles, to avoid this first crochet the soles for both at the same time and then go through to finish the rest of the shoe!! :D
This is by far the best tutorial learning this stitch. Do you have it for bigger sizes? Still fairly new and have to follow patterns either like this or written
+Maureen Rado Thank you very much!! :) :) What you can do is, you can try instead of sc and hdc, you can make all 3 rows with dc, that way you are covering the length plus the additional width for the adult foot! I will be making an adult bootie soon though!
Wow you are very good. I understood the sole so well, kudos to you, one question I have is how many v sts. do you have on each round on the crocodile sts.? I thought you said, six with out the chain three right? Thank you again.
+Patty Bullert Thank you very much!! I hope I answer your question, because I don't think I understood it very well. When you have your total stitches, in order for the crocodile stitches to come out right, the number of stitches should be a multiple of six (which is the same multiple as if you were going to work the stitchs in the same row, the only difference is that if you made it in a row you would have to make 3 more chains in order to go to Row1, in this case we're working in the round so you don;t need to care about that).
Hi there! I as well have tried and tried with written patterns and couldn't figure this out! Thank you so much for the amazing video!!! My question would be how could I make them a smaller size? Say newborn or 0-3 months? I've been told I can use the same yarn with a smaller hook or smaller yarn thickness and the same hook. Any suggestions?? Thank you!
+Lacey McClain Hi Lacey! Thank you very much!!
If the sole chain is increased to make a larger bootie how do you work the rest of the boot? I've successfully made my 1st pair from your wonderful video & would love to make a bigger pair for my toddler granddaughter or do you follow the video not increasing leg rounds? HELP xxx
+Mandy Morley I'm very glad you found the video helpful! If you want to make a bigger sole, I'm not a fan of crocheting the same bootie but with a bigger crochet hook because in the end you'll end up with large holes on your work. So lets say for example, you start your with 15 chains, that means you will have a total of 14 st to work with, from which the first and last are used for increases, so you'll have a total of 12 st in the middle. So first and 2nd rows you're going to have a total of 12 sc and 12hdc, and in the 3rd row, we want to make the total of st worked in the middle plus 5 in this case 12 +5= 17 after those 17 st you're going to work the toe increase for the nxt 3st, then you're going to make another 17hdc and the increase in the end to finish your row. When it comes to decreasing, you're going to have to make more decreases. When you're going to mark your bootie from where to start and where to end them, you want to go about half way through the st, and when you finish your decreases in the nxt rows, you want to have the multiple that we need to make the crocodile st, if not, make another row where you decrease as many st as you need in order to get the multiple!
Ur video's are amazing. You explain evevrything so nicely.I want to make a bigger size bootie so if i do 18 chains in begining so how many decreases i would have. For example if i do 12 chain i would have 20 decreases and if i do 15 chains so i would have 24 decreases..So can u help me..
+Mahnoor Khan Thank you very much! When you say decreases you mean the ones after the first rows of sc in order for the bootie to start closing up??? If so, from the total amount of stitches that you will have, you want to take a little more than half, so let's say for example from a total of 48st, half would be 24, so you should decrease a total of 26 or 28st depends how small you want it to be.
You said you used a 3 ply yarn with a 4mm hook? I used a dk which is a thicker yarn (I'm in the UK) but my bootie is coming up like a small newborn 🤔. Did I miss something?
+Anca Lociuc Thank you very much!! Sorry for the late response.. for a bigger size you have to do a bigger chain in the beginning which will be 4cm smaller than the total measurment of the foot.. for example, if the kids foot is 25cm, you want your beginning chain to be 21cm and when ypu complete the sole it should be 25cm, the measurment of the foot..
+Strawberry Burst I did them with the same increases/ decreases and they came out perfect. They look the same as the ones in the video, only a bigger size. :)

The instructions are very clear and easy to understand. I like the way she does the crocodile stitch, it is much easier than other tutorials.
+Betty Capps Thank you very much Betty! I'm glad you liked it! :D
Very nice tutorial, clear and easy directions. I'm left handed and had no trouble at all. Much easier than written for me. Thanks so much!
+Lory LaRoche Thank you very much for the feedback!!! I'm very glad that you liked it!!! :D

Hi there first let me say how great and clear your video is . I want to make these for a 3month old how would I do this thank you x

+Mandy Morley Thank you very much! I'm glad you found the video helpful , aside from the differences in the names of the stitches.. I've learned how to crochet mostly from American videos that's why I call the stitches like that!! :D :D
is this pattern in written from at all?
Unfortunately not, somehow I find written instructions to be more difficult, I've never put a pattern in written form!

Thank tou very much!! Sorry, I don't have a written pattern.
I have ready made 2 sets of these!! So cute!!!
Thank you very much!! :D
Your welcome!:)
Thank you, wonderful instructions, very cute..
Thank you very much!! :D
Fantastic tutorial thank you :D and love the bubbles in your fish tank :D
Thank you very much!
VERY GOOD DEMONSTRATION
MANY THANKS
ARIELLA
+ariella orgal Thank you very much, Ariella!
+Kiki Crochet Thanks
Excellent Tutorial!!!!!!
+Brooke Raley Thank you very much!! :D
+Kiki Crochet thanks for that il have a go x
Good luck!!! :D
+Kiki Crochet thank u soo much..
Thank you so much!!! It all makes sense now!
+LawnsAreDumb I'm glad you found it helpful! :D
You said you used a 3 ply yarn with a 4mm hook? I used a dk which is a thicker yarn (I'm in the UK) but my bootie is coming up like a small newborn 🤔. Did I miss something?
Thank you! A great video!!!!
+Sylvia Gagnon Thank you very much! :D
You are briliant! Can you please tell me how to do them toddler size? For a 2 year old? Thank you!
+Kiki Crochet Thank you very much. And the increases and decreases remains the same?
+Anca Lociuc I'd like to know about the increases/decreases too!
+Strawberry Burst I did them with the same increases/ decreases and they came out perfect. They look the same as the ones in the video, only a bigger size. :)
Thank you for the information. Practice makes perfect, I do practice and one day it will be perfect :)
