I rented this game at blockbuster way back when, I set the high score on the cartridge with something like 890. I was very proud of myself. This guy passes that in like 3 levels, proving once again I'm not as good at video games as I thought I was.
ha-ha there's always another level man. plus you might be better at a certain game than these guys. everyone has there one or two games that they are just incredible at.
@themodfather9382 I got 850 just by going on the Hard Route and spamming the charge shot. It can be hard on the other routes, but on any path, just spam the charge shots. On the Hard Route, there's just more enemies.
You get bonus points for killing enemies with splash damage from the charged shot. +1 bonus point per cluster of enemies you take out without the charged shot actually hitting any enemy directly.
Im so dumb as a kid i would charge then shout groups ihwo did in ever think of that my little bro just beat my old hush score due to new starts. noooooo. anyway great run
This run and commentary helped me so much getting medals, casually on Expert Mode, even! Even gold medals on the 3DS version it helped. Except for Katina. F that level on Expert Mode.
I wish SDA did something like a "best of" compilation for massive donations, because they make me happy. Something like, after all the streams are uploaded to this channel, edit together a montage of all the biggest contributions and their donation comments. 'Twould be heartwarming.
A fair number of the donations, including some of the bigger amounts, are anonymous. It’s amazing to see just how many people want to help but have no interest in attention.
I appreciate this run. As much as I love the speed runs, it's cool to show off ridiculous skill at other ways to play these games. That's probably also the reason I prefer watching 100% runs to any% runs.
zallard1. I remember a few years ago when I first stumbled upon this guy's Star Fox 64 videos and actually first learned about CUS that way. Glad to see him on SDA.
OH WHAT ZALLARD RAN THIS AT ADGQ! If you have never seen him do Starfox or anything really (just watched his blindfolded SPO run, which is insane by the way) you're in for a treat!
I used to love playing this game as a kid, I didn't know that getting on the tracks at around 31:10 was that hard, I used to do it for fun :) Great run!
I got 250 points on the first level once. Recorded it on my vcr too. It was a good day I guess. Could never get 2000 points on normal though. Got close but I just can't. And Expert mode is a nightmare for trying to get a high score. You have to be truly skilled at the game.
I used this video as a guide to get 2k points around the time this came out. It's crazy that I was able to get that many points despite all the fights it caused with my girlfriend and zallard has become a true hero of the galaxy.
I never knew all the tricks for Sector Y or Aquas, so I always go Corneria - Meteo - Katina - Sector X - Macbeth - Area 6 - Venom for my high score runs. I think my best on that route was around 1800. Also, you didn't have to purposely miss a searchlight in Zoness to avoid Sector Z. You could just use the "Change Course" option to go to Macbeth. I also remember a really good power-up route through Andross's Base - Left, Right, Left, Left, Right, Right for hyper lasers and an extended life bar.
MetalSmasherGaming That Andross Route is the best and using the same route as you my current high score is 1825. I'm aiming to beat Zallard's score. I want to hold the WR for a full single run someday. Although the reason he gets caught by the searchlight in Zones is because it spawns alot more enemies in the next section of the level. You can technically get caught at the very first one to spawn them but then each light goes from being worth 5 to only 2 iirc.
His reason for getting caught by the searchlight is that they send more enemies towards you once you get caught... the boats specifically, this room for more points
I was the best in my neighbourhood and did 1571 points when I rebought the game a couple of years ago... I remember doing low 1600+ when I was a kid but can't confirm it anymore. This guy just kicked my butt and there were 2 stages left, 1 of them being A6. Damn!
That's around what I get without score run strats too. I'm still trying to learn how to reliably do the score strats, but I've managed to get extra Hit+1s on the clams on Aquas and that's pushed me into the low 1600s.
TheHeadphoneGamerX Yeah it's funny to have people pop into my stream sometimes and go. "Are you speedrunning this?" It's like... Why would I speedrun this? Sure I can boost through the levels but this game is a high score challenge!
+TheHeadphoneGamerX well there still could be skips/glitches etc be in the game :D but your point still stands ;) high score is much more entertaining to watch in this game :D
+Clout Gang like how is that even fun?? speedrunning a rail shooter like this?? that like speedrunning house of the dead for arcade. I wish the score run was the main category
Clout Gang then why are you even in this channel? I respect your opinion but really? you come to an account that posts videos of speedruns just to say that?
My highest score was 1949. Someone came to school one day saying he got like 1600 with his GameShark and I just laughed. Bombs are awful except for Area 6.
In Summer 2007, I brought my Wii to Las Vegas and played Star Fox 64 Expert Mode. I scored about 2000+ points using the hard route (Sector Z instead of Macbeth). I was 11 years old at the time.
Me and my brother used tolove playing this game and also just touching and feeling the cartridge. I used to love touching it and helping my brother touch it too
man I remeber when I was a kid and I cracked the 2000 mark for the first time and I thought I was the greatest starfox player out! I think my high score was just over 2100 in the end. Had I known all those awesome exploits I may have been able to do much better. These score runners are awesome
I wan't very hopeful when I searched for "agdq star fox" because star fox doesn't seem like much of a speed running game, but luckily, they do score runs too.
Jacob Gee yea if you get mission complete you go the normal route. If you get mission accomplished you go through the alternative / hard path. So the fact he did the most of the hard route while getting over 3k plus in point is ridiculous. I struggle for high 900's at the end of my game. This guy's is ridiculous and talented.
You only get a little over 100k$ for killing space Hitler and saving the universe and also just obliterating half of their army with little support from the main forces? What the hell?
I like this runner. he's very humble and informative. he actually explains things as he go. I really appreciate it
Ya same here, I like that he talks about what he’s doing and why he does certain things within certain stages
I know it’s been a while, but check his punch out speedruns…he’s insanely good
165k space dollars for the starfox team after they save the lylat system in 44 minutes.
i feel like corneria got the better end of this deal.
Lolicage I think those are in millions
we don't know the value of that currency, for all we know 165k could buy a planet
How the fuck did you do that? I struggle to get 300
@themodfather9382 I got 850 just by going on the Hard Route and spamming the charge shot. It can be hard on the other routes, but on any path, just spam the charge shots. On the Hard Route, there's just more enemies.
zallard1 is one of the best high score runners in the world. He's held former world records for Star Fox 64 levels a couple times.
"can't let you do that cancer" lol best donation ever XD
God, its been ages since I played StarFox 64, and watching these guys rip it apart for scores that would have made me jealous as a kid is awesome
+Cloudmonkey Same!!!!
this game is awesome and amazing how it touches a lot of people still after so many years
but I would not use God's name in vain
How to get high scores in Star Fox 64: "Miss with charge shots."
...wait what?
Star Fox is a magical land where being the best means being terrible in the most difficult way possible.
"Fox, you turned off the targeting computer. Something wrong?"
@@RRVCrinale Fact: Luke turned off his targeting computer because he's secretly a Star Fox pro.
26:47
"CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT, CANCER!!"
Peppy Hare: "Do a Barrel Roll!"
Chris Jericho: "It's an Aileron Roll, you idiot!"
best star fox 64 player ever
This run and commentary helped me so much getting medals, casually on Expert Mode, even! Even gold medals on the 3DS version it helped. Except for Katina. F that level on Expert Mode.
Man, Imagine GDQ letting a runner monologue for 6 minutes after the end of the run these days.
Run starts at 2:40
The real ending always brings a tear to my eyes.
Still one of the best video games I've played, great game. We'll played.
This was a really great and touching stream! Keep up the great work guys!
I appreciate this run. As much as I love the speed runs, it's cool to show off ridiculous skill at other ways to play these games. That's probably also the reason I prefer watching 100% runs to any% runs.
This guy is a god with the joystick and button mashing. Best I can get for Area 6 is around 460
I didn't know about half the stuff this guy accomplished in this game...and I grew up on it! It's a trip seeing this👍
why is jonah hill and johnny knoxville on the couch
😂
Why did they make Rob Zombie sit with the 3 rejected blues brothers characters?
lol
zallard1. I remember a few years ago when I first stumbled upon this guy's Star Fox 64 videos and actually first learned about CUS that way. Glad to see him on SDA.
Can't let you do that cancer SDA has ordered us to take you down 😂
dear lord, the voice of this caster.. one of the sickest gaming runs ive ever seen though
OH WHAT ZALLARD RAN THIS AT ADGQ! If you have never seen him do Starfox or anything really (just watched his blindfolded SPO run, which is insane by the way) you're in for a treat!
Wow, I just played and then watched him to compare and I am amazed. Could *not* stop saying "WOW" and "HOW??"
This guy is amazing
viewtifulday If you think he's incredible now you need to watch his blindfold Super Punch Out run.
I used to love playing this game as a kid, I didn't know that getting on the tracks at around 31:10 was that hard, I used to do it for fun :) Great run!
Remember watching this live. It was amazing.
This game brings back memories. I could hit around 1400 overall on expert as a 8 year old when this first came out!
Slippy is the original Meg
I remember getting a high score of 1,543 when I was 14 and I thought I was the man. Watching these now is very humbling...
this makes me want to go back and boot up the n64 and see what my scores were.
Coming here after watching Zallard's Star Fox Zero runs :)
I got 250 points on the first level once. Recorded it on my vcr too. It was a good day I guess.
Could never get 2000 points on normal though. Got close but I just can't. And Expert mode is a nightmare for trying to get a high score. You have to be truly skilled at the game.
This is one of my favorite videos on the channel!
I used this video as a guide to get 2k points around the time this came out. It's crazy that I was able to get that many points despite all the fights it caused with my girlfriend and zallard has become a true hero of the galaxy.
the most entertaining run EVER
what an absolute legend
I want to hang out with this guy. I feel like he's one of the most humble runners ever.
I never knew all the tricks for Sector Y or Aquas, so I always go Corneria - Meteo - Katina - Sector X - Macbeth - Area 6 - Venom for my high score runs. I think my best on that route was around 1800.

I want everyone to yell GOOD LUCK!
And then the Star Fox team receive a court summons for fraud due to exploiting a loophole in the hit-tracking system
A truly humbling experience
Fantastic run, thank you guys!
I was the best in my neighbourhood and did 1571 points when I rebought the game a couple of years ago... I remember doing low 1600+ when I was a kid but can't confirm it anymore. This guy just kicked my butt and there were 2 stages left, 1 of them being A6. Damn!

i finally get to know zallard1 after a lot of years watching him tenfold my scores
i didn't read the title correctly and thought: "How the Eff someone speedruns Star Fox 64?! It's basically Autoscroller The Game!"

Wow, speed runs for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. My father would be proud... T.T
awesome run
I played this game so much as a kid :D I thought my hiscore was great, but Zallard,,, this is just crazy :D
that was awesome to watch, well done zallard1
What'd be cool is if they replaced the timer with a cumulative score throughout the run.
There is a cool dude behind the three cool dudes behind the coolest dude. But I think the cool dude is the coolest of them all!
My highest score was 1949. Someone came to school one day saying he got like 1600 with his GameShark and I just laughed. Bombs are awful except for Area 6.
best couch ever
2:41 Start
What I want to know most is why are there so many people wearing sunglasses indoors?
Fun stuff... Makes me want to go back and play
In Summer 2007, I brought my Wii to Las Vegas and played Star Fox 64 Expert Mode. I scored about 2000+ points using the hard route (Sector Z instead of Macbeth). I was 11 years old at the time.
I was playing star fox 64 and on one of the star wolf levels i instantly killed leon as soon as he entered the map
I remember switching my controller color with a friend, we each had half-gray, half-green. I still have it!
other speedrunners: Im gunna do a trick to despawn all further enemies
starfox runners: I'm gunna do a thing to spawn 700 extra enemies
Me and my brother used tolove playing this game and also just touching and feeling the cartridge. I used to love touching it and helping my brother touch it too
Ar ha ha ha harrr.... Arrggghhh!!! ,, Timing! lmao!
My best total score is 963.
TheLoZKing Mine is 1180.
Ouch
I didn't know Mike Stoklasa was this good at starfox64
man I remeber when I was a kid and I cracked the 2000 mark for the first time and I thought I was the greatest starfox player out! I think my high score was just over 2100 in the end. Had I known all those awesome exploits I may have been able to do much better. These score runners are awesome
Booted up my N64 a yesterday and played StarFox for a bit and I'll let you know Zallard1 is making this look so easy. SO EASY.
Beautiful!
Boy, I have been playing the 3DS remake of this way too much- I can barely recognize half the characters or models in this.
Man. I never knew about the charge shots helping so much with hit bonuses. I got all the medals on this game the hard way. OOPS
27:55
The guy playing looks like Jesse Pinkman. Great run!
All this is cancer free. What a great community
There's just something super sexy about rail shooters.
Wish I got paid $165,760 for 45 mins for work.... I gotta talk to my boss about this pay raise
As long as you can deal with lasers and bombs coming at your ship.
Ty for this!
7:30 You'll never defeat Androsssssss!!! Yeah...right.
wow i never knew about the charge shot +1
I wan't very hopeful when I searched for "agdq star fox" because star fox doesn't seem like much of a speed running game, but luckily, they do score runs too.
TIL there was a submarine level in Star Fox 64. Played this game a billion times
“668” on Area 6???!!!!!
I’ve had nightmares about that f@$kin stage! Sheesh.
Lol zallard always looks so pissed off
KillerKyuubi He traded in his joy and soul for his skills.
chapinmc2 worth it 100% complete
B)
what is with the shades indoors?
+element74 I think its a homage to Fox Mclouds dad.
+dn3000 You're becoming more like your father Star Fox
they're high as fuck
6:58 I need a tutorial on how to do that little trick
This is awesome :0
I must have sucked at this game as a kid because I haven't seen a lot of these levels
I used to suck when I was like 4-8 but I have been able to improve but not on Zallard's level
Does the mech's base trick work in the 3DS version as well?
The guy who was reading the donation had a voice that made me sick, other than that it was a very enjoyable video.
Chuck Mangione yea he wasn't excited at all lol
What’s up with the Sunglass crew??
that was entertaining man , i like the macbeth stage run i got new strategy for that stage......good job man
Great Run
I feel old...
That’s one steep bill, to be sure
You only get a little over 100k$ for killing space Hitler and saving the universe and also just obliterating half of their army with little support from the main forces?
What the hell?
Hey, maybe in their universe, $100k could be worth $100 million in our money
This game will forever be in my heart!!!
5:32 Meme of the day: "Do a barrel roll!"
EDIT: 6:55 Is another meme, just like... Peppy: "Incoming enemy from the REAR" xD
OMG, these... announcers all... read like, uh... like they're in.... grades dool, I mean grade school.
Seriously...
We go.. we got a uhhhhhh 50 dorral .. dollar donation from richard cage.. richard craig.... *cough* uhhh....
+Richard Craig all? how many have you heard? you haven't heard spike, that's for sure.
Mike Wright Oh I know some are great at it... I was specifically referring to the one in this video.
The moment you realise what these guys gave up their time for.....and realise you're a piece of shit.
