@@mikeormoab hey thanks so much man! glad you dig it, it's a mix of photography and digital manipulation, all the figures are real (all me, self portraits technically), the smoke is real (smoke bomb), the edges of the cliff are stock composited together, and the background is a composite as well :)
Hell of a track. They actually debuted this song live a few months ago in their home town of Sydney. It was the last song of the night and I was in the pit for it. So sick to finally hear the studio version. 🤘🏻
That guitar solo was soooo sick. Big fan of this. Man ive waited over 3 years for a Polaris song, at one point i thought the band was going through something but i guess they were just enjoying touring TDOM and taking their time with this upcoming album. (And yes i know they did something with PhaseOne but i dont count that)
I loved it! Jamie has the perfect "mid" metalcore scream to me, and ryan is a beast with the riffing. Mix couldve been alittle better, but as you said your ears need to get tuned in abit.
You should definitely do an album reaction to The Mortal Coil. Since TDOM got you accustomed to their sound and you enjoyed TDOM after more listens i think you would really enjoy TMC. Its arguably better than TDOM.
I'd honestly say this is on of my favourites already from them, the mix is a little weird but just the style of the song I really enjoy and those RIFFS!!!! I NEED TABS!!!!
Idk about anyone else but I love the thickness and actually like the mix a lot. The thick thumpiness gives the song its power and rage and as long as the vocals are there I really don’t mind
it might be looking to deep into it but the song/video clip is about how desensitised society and people are to alot of whats happening in the world, having the vocals slightly muddier than usual would be a cool way to reinforce that and have people actually look into the lyrics more and see the message. Could also just be reading way too far into it and its just a little off, still an amazing track tho can't wait for the album! hopefully you check out The Mortal Coil at some point too, alot of great songs on there as well and could be a good leadup to this album.
The Mortal Coil was the soundtrack for my life at once point and the first two singles they released for The Death of Me were amazing, but i was disappointed when the album was released and never really went back to the album. This is a massive step in the right direction for me!
You cant say that without hearing the rest of the album when its released. Also Hypermania is far more aggressive than this and most Polaris fans would agree with that. Still a banger tho ngl
Not seen anyone else who agrees with me, but I actually love the vocal mix. On my Spotify I have the EQ set so that the vocals are generally even quieter lol, and mostly the bass is accented so much more than anything else. The thickness and “thumpiness” of the harder-hitting parts is what gives it its power. I do still like the vocals, they just aren’t centre stage for me, and it may be why I’m not a huge fan of bands like System of a Down. Their vocals are too prominent and not enough room is given to the bass and eguitars to really fill up your ears to the max. Clearly just a preference though
Hope you get to Karmanjakah’s new EP Ancient Skills… Easily my favorite EP that has came out in a while. Let’s just say it’s BeautiTHALL in every way possible.

Production reminds me of Currents new stuff. I like old Polaris, but this is better than TDOM. Idk though, everything today has been so formulaic... and the vocals just sound like "baby's first metalcore" type and Im just done with that style lol
@@catsclawband oh please don't make me laugh haha, we all know you're the highlight of this comment section :) Waiting patiently for some new music from you :P
Not sure if it’s just me but the mix just isn’t that good on RUclips. When I listened on Spotify it sounded wayyyy better and kinda blew me away at some parts
Thoughts?
loving it.
Honestly i can't like it for some reason. Polaris always was kinda boring for me, it's alright but maybe i'm not into it
Too distracted by the amount of biceps in this video
Yeah 8/10 need to listen to it again do vocals ok but like you said production.......

Dope seeing you review this and glad you're into it man!
I made the cover art for the upcoming album so it's dope seeing the rollout begin :)
No way! Sick job bro🔥🤝🏻
Another graphic designer here - How'd you make it? Is it AI, 3D or a photography composite? Absolutely love it :)

First time I saw the album cover I was in love! There is just something beautiful about black red and white together for an album cover!

Love the song but to be fair I go into every Polaris song fully expecting to love it. They just have that sound I need.
My god this slaps. Love the nu metal style bounciness they have to their riffs and songs in general. Also as you said that bass tone is just filthy.
Really do recommend The Mortal Coil I think many would say it’s better than the Death of Me. Great Video btw

They played this at a Sydney show maybe two months ago, and man it went OFF
So stoked to see it has been released officially
Glad I'm not the only one to notice the weird mix, banger of a song but wish the mix was a little less thick 🤣
Looking forward to what they have next

Yea the solo made it stand out! Solid track and agree on the vocal mix, wish they'd make them front and centre pop music style
Love how the bass is the first thing you hear

i love the aggression in this. better then ‘the death of me’ by far.

The Mortal Coil is a must listen. Way better than The Death Of Me
Album cover has some TDP vibes!
Quick question, can only the Patreons suggest new albums/songs or do you also take note of the comments here? 👀

Cheers, Drew. Used to be a huge Polaris fan. Really hoping that they bounce back from The Death of Me. Seems promising after this first single.

This track finally did it for me as well. Now Polaris makes sense to me and I love it
The solo is interesting, the rest of the song is probably my least favorite by polaris
It is what I expected from Polaris and I am totally satisfied with the result 🤌🏻🤝🏻
