It took him just over a lap to get used to the power, another lap to figure out how much traction or lack of traction he had, another lap to suss out the vehicle dynamics, but he just couldn't quite tune his ear to get used to changing gears at the same revs his F1 car idles at.🤣
In all fairness it was his first time in the car, it was raining & he didn't crash. A job well done I say. After a few more engine replacements I'm sure he would get the hang of it...

The redline was telling me just moments before this video loaded that it loves getting smacked around a bit otherwise it seems a little too bland and the engine can't be satisfied. And mang! The howlin and near immediate throttle response just calls through the digital ether to the hotrodder, the petrolhead, the hoonigan, the utter madlads of the world to let us know that the unifying song of our people of perforance is being played once again! MOST ENTERTAINING V8 supercar drive I've seen in YEARS! i think they should just do "chuck us the keys mate" test drives and have them for spectators enjoyment :)

You severely underestimate how skilled professional racecar drivers, let alone F1 drivers, are. Especially Bottas who is a multiple racewinner. They can get in any car and drive the nuts of it

You can hear the hesitation in thefirst part of the drive, reminds me of going to fast gokarts with newbies to it. Nothing wrong with that, better than dying in an accident, just really interesting to be able to hear it.
I love the amount of in-cabin footage Super Cars gives, especially things like footwork. Formula 1 could learn a lot from Super Cars about how to give viewers more feeling about what racing is like from the driver's perspective.
@@ianmontgomery7534 You barely need to. Except for setting off, and 1st to 2nd. Downshifts can be done by lifting your foot off the gas, although its better to clutch on down shifts. His issue is he's used to left foot braking. And with 3 pedals you really need to heel toe it to get the best out of it.
@@PBMS123u have to rev match on downshifts, so u have to blip the throttle, not let off, and i think these gen cars already have auto blip, so u dont even have to heel and toe

Valterri did a bloody great job here. See the the thing with Aussie V8 series is the the car is just a rather large engine connected to rather small tyres via a diff and a gear box. Nothing else. All control is via the guy hanging off the steering wheel. Most other series have a lot of driver aids to help out.
So many negative Nancy comments here about having a crack and bouncing off the limiter. Good on him, it will be fine. It’s a promotional video, you reckon if he babies it the whole video and just short shifts there would be positive comments? I don’t think so. Good on him for thrashing it. I would do exactly the same thing.

I hope so....because that would create demand for new parts for these beasts, and lack of parts and/or people who can fix them is usually how race cars end retiring for good/being retrofitted with easier stuff to fix and more often than not losing their essence and what made the legendary in their time. Not better, not worse, just different from nostalgia expectations.
Valtteri is an awesome driver, but the craziness of Aussie V8 Supercars is clearly hard to control! Quite probably the best racing ever, huge congrats to everyone in V8 Supercars & thanks for such entertainment
One thing I noticed was how Valtteri didn't get an understanding of the engine's torque curve. Revving the a-hole out of an engine doesn't produce results when the engine's peak torque comes in below 5000rpm.

I work for Darrell Lea and me and some of my workmates had the opportunity to do a hotlap in this car at Eastern Creek in the rain. One of the coolest experiences ever, one i'll never forget.
Been mucking around on this track with these cars on Assetto Corsa. Sounds like how I drive 😂 In all seriousness excellent work, super tough car on a tough track, in the wet, no crashes or spin outs. Super proud of you mate 😊

Small black one on the right of gear lever is break bias to shift breaking bias to front or rear etc. Blue and red are the front and rear anti roll bar adjustments to stiffen or soften
