I teared up the first time I listened to it again by chance after my childhood (my older brother used to play CT/CC). I cried the first time I heard RichaadEB's earlier metal cover of Schala's theme. It's such a transcendent song, and also - to me - metal makes everything better. Still makes me tear up at 30.
It's barely the same tune. He's improvised so much beyond the base theme that it might as well be its own composition. It's good, but it's barely Schala's Theme.

It does exactly what it's supposed to do - it turns Schala's Theme into a djenty progressive metal composition that still feels like Schala's Theme. Now, I'm just a drummer, so, hey, what do I know? I'm not even a real musician. OH, HEY, @RichaadEB, +RichaadEB, or however we tag in RUclips now... DUDE, the midi sounds you use for your kick are off the HOOK, SON. Lots of attack, lots of depth, and punchy as hell. That's your new kick, my friend. It stands out in mixes, it thumps the sub, yet it stands out when listening on a cellphone speaker. It's GREAT. Make it your kick for this style of music more often. Great work.

Amazing... every time I start to feel like the original song is getting lost in the virtuosity, you drop out and let that background theme come back through and pull it all together. Fantastic cover as always!
One of the few childhood moments that brought me joy was playing Chrono Trigger. I loved the story and the multiple endings. Before game achievements and trophies and RUclips videos, being able to show you friends the multiple endings in person was a massive boost. Especially when you got all the rainbow weapons and armor for all the characters. I wish Schala had a better outcome then what she got....but then Magnus wouldn't be the character he was.
Man, hearing Chrono Trigger music is so nostalgic for me. It was by far one of the best games ever made, period. It got so many things right and I don't think there ever was any game quite as close to perfection as CT. Literally everything in CT fits together so well and it was made in the 90s for SNES. Great story, characters, music, artwork, gameplay, etc...nothing like it. If you are a CT fan, you probably remember Schala from the game and what happened to her...so you'll understand just how perfectly this music fits. If you've never played the game get an emulator and do it. Just like the music, greatness is timeless. And of course @RichaadEB, you nailed it with your CT remixes...makes me wish that game companies would actually put the blind pursuit of profits aside and just gather all the talented people in their fields together to make something awesome - which is what happened with CT in a sense. I've wanted to do that myself for a while now but it's hard to find people willing to do something just for the sake of doing it without it devolving into squabbles about who gets paid what.
Musically, the guitar rhythm gives it a trapped sound, and the high pitch harmonics sound like screaming, in the way that Schala was for an eternity waiting next to death after her encounter with Lavos. Incredible cover, brings me back a good five years to better times

Well done man! I really love Schala's Theme in the game because of it's tribal vibe along with the mechanical rhythm which resembles everything the Kingdom of Zeal stood for. But I also thought it lacked to show how hard and heavy Schala's story was. This version here just puts it right there! Amazing. I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this but just in case: Have you thought about making a version of Radical Dreamers? That would give me the chills!
Hello. I just want to mention one thing. This is a theme of Schala winning over Lavos. Battle begins, but she is taking over. And that's why this theme gets so heavy and metal. As she triumphs. For her brother. For Zeal.

That explains why his skills are far beyond others - he Came from 3018.
