Possibly the best chi sao demonstration film on RUclips; the teaching is very clear. But the camera work and slo- mo of it is GOLD. Thank you and kudos to the camera crew. For those who scoff: As a horse trainer who has spent 30 years moving creatures 10 times my mass, I can tell you this WORKS. The point is to take the energy directed against you and turn it in service of your own objective. This “Magic” is a fact of physics. If one’s intention is to pursue open aggression and domination, through a display of force against force, then no, this is not your martial art. But if one’s objective is to co- opt or subvert, this places your “opponent’s” energy in service of your own agenda. In this way, one CAN make allies of enemies. This is an excellent demonstration.
the most real wing chun master of this generation i've seen so far, the sparring with that student was amazing it almost looked choreographed, im not joking it's the very first wing chun sparring i seen that got me enjoyed, SUBSCRIBED!
I trained with Sifu Sam Kwok at Lancaster University and Leo would come by every few months to teach and to learn from Master Kwok, and I have to say I was very impressed with him even back then (this was about 8 years ago). He's very precise, extremely methodical, and a genuinely good teacher.
Sifu Leo, this is one of the best Wing Chun video I've seen on RUclips. I love your approach and overall presentation, looks modern and "alive". It's also great to see intense training (and included conditioning) yet very friendly atmosphere. Last but not least, the fact that you let your students did the "drama" and you were totally omitted is an act of a true master. It takes wisdom and bravery. What YOU can do isn't that important, but what you can help your STUDENTS do means a lot!
This video was done really well, the editing, the content, pretty much everything is seamless and fluid. It really fosters a genuine impression of wing chun.
I am glad that you enjoy doing wing chun and able to find a school which suit you. it is never too late to start training. If you come to London you are welcome to come to try our class. Anyway good luck to ur training and see you soon
He's the type of shifu i needed! pacient and takes his time explaining and goes thru it slowly. My old shifu he went my pace everything was none stop everything was fast.
I'm not going to argue with you. You have your skills and experience and respect for that. All I'm saying is that what you are showing on you tube doesn't look to me like Wing Chun. All the best.
I am glad that you like the video, i hv done Wing Chun for about 20 years. however as i see the most important is how correct you been doing it, not how long you been doing it.
Thanks for your supportive comments Max, the reason why i am teaching and making this video is bcos i hv seen so many rubbish kung fu out there and a lot of kung fu instructors are just teaching for money and open as many schools as possible. i would like to made a change to this kind of situation. I would like to show people that there are still good quality martial arts out there and everyone can learn if you hv the right heart to it.
Love that, I have been practicing Chen style Tai Chi for nearly two years now on the South Coast of the UK. We have a similar friendly atmosphere in our school, I have also been lucky enough to train with Master Chen Bing from China and I can say that the friendly supportive attitude runs all the way to the top practitioners. Martial arts training has improved my over all health and physicality, but has also improved my attitude to work, family and over all life. TRY IT OUT :)
Thanks for your nice words and i looking forward to teach you guys as much as i can. Our objective is to teach first rate traditional Chinese kung fu in London. i really appreciate every students and your support.
hi Daniel, you are welcome to come to our class any time to experience it, or if you are in Wales i am happy to meet up when i back to Wales next time. looking forward to seeing you soon.
Dear leo au yeung =), I would like to say, thank you, to you, for taking the time and effort to both upload and share this video with the youtube family =). I would like to wish a peaceful and nice day, mate =). Kind Regards Ray (From Sydney, Australia) =)
Great video Sifu! It is great to see that there are still passionate and dedicated teachers out there. They are vanishing in the brave new world. I truly thank and salute you!
nice video - whoever did your filming and editing did a great job. It doesn't matter what style you use, you see when someone understands fighting straight away.
I like Sifu Leo Au Yeung's Wing Chun training sessions here on RUclips. Sifu Leo imparts excellent knowledge of Wing Chun techniques to his students, he has a practical, common sense approach. More video clips in 2015, please Sifu !
Hi thanks for ur comment, you are welcome to start ur training any time. I am working on the Ip man 3 in china at the moment, but my assistance is running the class for me at the moment. I will back on Sep. see u soon
Respect from Italy!!! Wing Chun is the best! I hope one day when I go to UK, I can practice with you Sifu.. I Love Wing Chun, and now I go for 2 years of practice! I want to do it for my entire life! This video inspired me a lot knowing you are the fight choreographer for IP Man and you worked/practiced with Donnie Yen! BIG UP!
Hi it is not difficult at all as i am not running it as a business and i got a passion about it. For me it is not a job, this is something a love and I enjoy every moment of it. you are welcome to come to my class any time to experience it.
Sifu Leo i really wish i was in london i've always wanted to learn wing chun but there are no teachers here where i'm at in Texas. I've always wanted to learn it so i can better defend my self and others if need be. but even if i was to find a teacher i don't thank they would be as understanding and have much patience as you do. you look like a great teacher and a great guy to get along with. and i hope you have a nice day and wish you the best.
Hi Daniel. I've been practicing WC for over an year and it has proved a very effective system. WC has ground techniques but I never need to use it because I can finish my opponent before going to ground. If you find yourself thinking it's because you don't learn the movements by heart. WC is dynamic, WC is like the water, it finds its way through the obstacles. If you think, the obstacle will win, if you flow, you win.
Thanks this is why I made this video, I would like more people be aware more about wing chun, and give some example what wing chun should look like in a lot of aspects.
Hi thanks for ur comment, you are welcome to come to visit us any time. I am working on the Ip man 3 in china at the moment and my assistance is running the class for me at the moment. I will back on Sep. see u soon
Thank you for this video. I'm currently studying Wing Chun in the next few months with a different lineage in California. Great introduction to Wing Chun. Thanks.
even though I grew up in mixed martial arts, I have studied Wing Chun a bit and thought that wing chun kung fu would be a really great style for me to learn and master along with my other styles.
I really enjoyed your video! It is very useful and helpful,I have been studying wing chun for only 3 months and wish i could learn from a very helpful sifu like you. I honor your teachings and you as well being a very professional sifu. I would like to visit you school someday.
Great video, Sifu. It shows your teaching style and the character of your school. Also a lot of credit needs to go to the video's director/editor. A first class piece of work!
I just finished my si num tao and i really recognize all the techniques used in the slowd down parts. Also I see the differens between the styles. My sifu is sifu Björn Sandelin who studied under master Emin Botzepe from 1st student grade to 3rd instructor grade. Good video!
Great Video and Techniques! i'm Wing Chun practicer of Brazil and loved! who knows, someday, we share experiences together? Great Work! Keep Training and God Bless you all Wing Chun Forever
Hi Sihing Patrick, good to hear from you, thanks for your teaching when i was young and allow me come to university to train. Hope you do well in Hong kong.
True, that is what i love about Wing chun/Wing Tsun it focuses on the center line, reflexes and reaction rather remembering how to block A, B and C to certain moves.
Just watched the video and found it very informative. For all the hater comments, I think they are not looking beyond this video. I've seen the Ip Man movies and Leo has done a good job acting as advisor, as he had to teach actors the wing chun forms and techniques in a short space of time for the filming. Some may have been martial arts actors/performers already, but wing chun may not be their specialism
I loved this video, actually im thinking about joining some wing chung school where i live, but now i dont have money for it,and when i have it,i have no time. Thanks for share this, respect.
I've studied Wing Chun with 3 teachers. Whoever said that Sifu Leo uses too much force wasn't paying attention to the relaxed nature of his hands when he's ding Chi Sao. It's obvious that Sifu Leo is a very good technical teacher and also a very good personal teacher as well, as can be seen in the playful nature he exhibits and that is reflected back in his students.
Good morning sifu, I thoroughly enjoyed this video and would just like to express my gratitude. I've recently become quite interested in Wing Chun. A coworker of mine has been teaching me and my brothers judo, but he also practices WC, kick boxing and wrestling. Unlike the others though he started having me focus on WC. He says I have potential to be great, but I'll just have to wait and see. Now I someday hope to travel to London and at that time I would like to spar with you. Again, thank you.
very nice demo..,. very good school... alittle more on healing and weapons for a complete system but for self-defense.... this vid is one of the best to get beginners interested in Chinese Pugilisitc Martial Science.... Congrates Sifu... Dr. Singh
Hi frequent2001, thanks for your comment, actually 5:43s is not too difficult to achieve but 5:59s is a lot difficult as you hv to apply two explosive power in a very short time and range. This is why not many people hv done it on youtube.
done tkd and krav maga, also muay thai ,i now live in thailand ,the applications here are great, and alot of the moves we use are robbed from chun,as i call it ,great informative video well done.
i really enjoyed the video and thought it was composed well. i can definitely see the difference between the wing chun i practice and the one you teach, especially in the sil lum tao
Thank you Sifu Yeung. You are an honorable man who gives instead of takes unselfishly. I have much to learn but by your hand and Jesus's This system will bring potency in strength with less effort.
You look like a great teacher. I seen more of your videos and you know how to teach people the right way(s) of practicing Wing Chun. I wish there was a good sifu in the Netherlands that could do this. There are no Chinese teachers here that can do this the way you do. The other teachers just teach their own ways, which is in my opinion wrong.... Keep going :)
thanks for your comment, i come from a traditional wing chun background but i am not just limit myself to traditional wing chun. Even Ip man have modified his wing chun after he met Leung Bik in Hong Kong. The most important point is do you able to use what you hv learnt in fighting situation. To me martial arts should hv no boundary and limitation, we should not get too attached to the name and particular fighting style. Any arts is good, it all depend on the fighter.
Wing Chun is actually a martial which attacks people's weak point, that including eyes, groin etc, this cannot be compared to other combat sport which have certain rules. In the real fight, it is using shortest time to attack the weak point of the opponent
well said from what i have observed why in the world would their be rules in combat its stupid when your in a fight who cares what you do as long as you win if your being attacked that is
Wing chun is meant to be mixed with other internal and external southern and hasayfu styles, its why its currently a part of the choy li fut system. You stop at one martial art and master that only, you become severely limited. Its useful but by itself, it will eventually wane.
Hi as long as i know sifu Cliff Au Yeung only worked Ip Man 2 but I worked on Ip Man 1, Ip man- the legend is born and now i am working in Ip Man the finial battle in China. My lineage is Ip Chun.

Breaking boards is still important. Not only do they toughen your hands, they also give you a lot of confidence
This is really great. Great technique for mental peace.
i really enjoyed the video and thought it was composed well. i can definitely see the difference between the wing chun i practice and the one you teach, especially in the sil lum tao
Thank you for the film.. Sifu Leo Au Yeung..
this was brilliantly produced, nice promotion vid.
Thank you Sifu Yeung. You are an honorable man who gives instead of takes unselfishly. I have much to learn but by your hand and Jesus's This system will bring potency in strength with less effort.
Great fight scenes and video editing at the end. Enjoyed this video clip greatly. Thanks for uploading. Can't wait for "Ip Man 3" to come out.
a good intro video to wing chun. I study in Los Angeles under Sifu Hawkins Cheung. Entertaining video. Thanks!
I wish I was in London to participate in your class! Amazing video, skills and teaching methods! Regards from Greece!

wow i wish there's a wing chun school here in the philippines, cause most of the time i you use grappling moves on a fist fight or in a life threatening situation. i was really amaze on how you can control your power and not losing your balance.
Thanks for your comments , hope to meet you one day
Good master I know little big tae Kwon do.i learning more what you teaching.thanks I from Guatemala
That is completely possible! My personal style of Wing Chun is Standard Wing Chun and Greek/Roman wrestling and modern weapons such as knives and hand guns. The thought process behind Wing Chun is "form from no form" and "strategy from no strategy" It's always open to new techniques.
Oh I enjoyed this video
looks like a proper dojo
and master Leo is hip
Very nice video. Im from germany, after i saw this, i will train by u ^^. Hope u and ur students are well and never must practice it on street.
Have nice workouts.
