Oh yes, well as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn’t exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them had you? I mean like actually telling anybody or anything.

In central Helsinki you can see what actually happens when a four-lane road gets 'upgraded' to a nice, promenade style two-lane road with bus stops and trees and stuff. It's projected to finish some time next year, and until then all the buses to Helsinki Center are going through about five km of horky-borky construction yard.

@Maiden Minnesota Does the game run when I am not playing? Meaning I turn my computer off to go to bed... I hope it's not like those old "watch animals" that dies if you don't keep feeding them...

It had always been on my "meh, maybe someday I'll buy it" list until I stumbled on these videos. That prompted me to buy the game during a Steam sale, and I haven't regretted it for a minute. Also, one of the free DLCs has a panda park. PANDA. PARK.
Biffa, this is just therapeutic. I don't know if it's because i'm stuck in traffic every single day... but I feel like I just had a good chat with my shrink about it!!!
BIFFA maybe do a 'test you infastructure city" where people send in good traffic cities and see if you block a road or two or shut down a bit of public transport the city would go into chaos. if it does fix the city with the missing infastructure or add a different type of infastructure to keep it alive.
Biffa, this is my city (my third ever, in fact)! Thanks so much for your tips. As a new player it has given me a lot to think about. I'm not sure why it loaded at 10% traffic for you though, it is much higher (~60%) at my end. Mods maybe?
13:12 It's funny... I've been doing these city fixes myself for fun before watching your videos recently... in this video we both took the same mindset through most of it and I found it pretty funny and weird (I guess I'm doing something right!). Right here at 13:12 when you took out that junction (one I also added!), I found that most of the traffic that was routing through it because of the other major inlet to the left only being one way. I made that inlet two way and that gave the AI more options, downing the traffic to that central roundabout. I also tried to add another option to the right, but I didn't think of having it cross over to the main city across the highway... I spent most of my time trying to figure this area out and clearly Biffa, you solved it in a much simple manner then I thought of. The cargo train between both ends of town is sheer genius! I ended up spamming the area with roundabouts on the upper and lower ends, and then turning the intersections into no crossover intersections...it was still very much an incomplete mess in my version. I learn so much from watching your videos and they have gotten me interested in playing Cities:Skylines again. I have played city sims since Sim City 2000 and have learned so much about how to play Cities:Skylines again from watching your traffic fixing series and even some of your older city build series! Hey Biffa! I got 3 challanges for you. Sorted from easy to difficult: I challeng you to make a Roundabout free episode, an episode finished with 100% traffic flow and the third one is a combination: Roundabout free and 100% traffic flow Good luck!
4:50 Honestly what I do in cases like that string of roundabouts is delete the connecting roads (the roundabout to roundabout main roads), build a raised highway both directions with exits coming off down to the roundabouts which are replaced with slightly larger diameter roundabouts.
Great video as always. I love using the turbine interchange, especially when you lane-management it correctly (as you did), it can manage a lot of traffic without problems *thumbs up*
Great job! The layout of the city was very... logical. Once you sorted the rotaries (roundabouts), things seemed to improve greatly. Kudos again to you and the submitter! EDIT - I would LOVE you see you attempt this completely vanilla (DLC ok).
I would like to see you do a "public transport" challenge. before doing anything on the roads try and get traffic down as much as possible by improving public transport first. ^^
hey biffa, love the videos, have you experimented with express lanes? so like on the highways, if a person needs to use an exit, they can go into the collector lanes, and if anyone is just going past, they can go past the exits and doesn’t mess with traffic going off/coming on. toronto and chicago are good examples of this
Would you recommend that turbine interchange for a four way highway situation or something else? I've been trying to replace my normal 4 way highway one with something different but have been struggling to choose one. Thanks for the fixes as always! :) ❤️
The unique function of the turbine other than the cool aesthetic is the fact that it includes U-turns as an option. They were barely used here, thus why the 2 lanes merging into 1 wasn't so much of a big deal. I could see it being particularly useful if one direction of a highway didn't have an off ramp to a street but the other direction does, so the U-turn becomes essential.
There’s this completely useless roundabout near my work that’s hilarious. It’s a single lane with traffic lights in the to next extremely close junction. It stops. All the time
Biffa, if you place those liny lane management things, the nod on which you have to connect it to looks like it is on top of the vehicle even though you have to connect it to the node that is on the ground. So what I'm saying is: if there is a vehicle on top of such a connecty thing, the connector itself is still on the road.
Excellent work except when you put the cargo rail over the highways and I saw the resulting roller coaster ride, I was like, "God! Put your railway on the ground", spreading my palm and fingers as if to flatten something, "and elevate the highway!"
At 7:32 but honestly my thought here is that those 4 roundabout really needed to be replaced by more of those turbine interchanges. You've effectively got a central road that's functioning as a highway, and then major side roads, (effectively an A road in UK road type marleance), hitting them sideways. Roundabouts are great for handling B roads meeting each other. But a major highway really wants a different type of junction.
Part of me wants to send in my city, but at the same time, I dont think theres much he can do. Traffic bounces between 60% and 70%, with a population just shy of 200k in mine. Thats about as good as its gonna get at that size. And frankly, I've put that city on hold for the moment because the amount of stuff going on in it has brought my computer to its knees. Had to actually turn of disasters because the sim speed tanked too bad. But tops off to my decade old computer for even being able to run the game at that point.

Another early comment. YAY! Um, yeah to say something more of substance: I see a new Biffa video, I give a thumbs up and THEN watch it. I'm simple as that.
You didn't really need to replace that cloverleaf with a turbine. It wasn't causing any problems the way it was. The main problem in the city was that main road with the series of roundabouts that you had to create bypasses for. Yes, Virginia, you can have too many roundabouts.
Biffa, I know you love roundabouts, but don't you think that instead of adding underground bypasses, it would work better to get rid of the roundabouts entirely and utilize highway style junctions instead (with POSSIBLE but not necessarily roundabouts underneath the main road)? That main road practically is a highway anyway, in purpose. It's not for local traffic, people are using it to get from one end of the city to the other entirely.
I have never tried the game, but I love these videos, and kind of want to just try fixing traffic on My own :) Dont really care for the game as such :)
when are you gonne start a new city series ? i loved the kerrisdale videos (which you sadly abandoned ) fixing traffic is great but i enjoy the challenges and city building a lot more
I was thinking when I saw the main road there should be a highway either underneath or above the road so that traffic who wants to go on can go on. So like the bypasses you made, but including a bit between the bypasses.
Oh, and Biffa (Oh no..., not Pierre again xD), you've seen my comments are a bit rough/rude. But you don't care of people you don't like. This means I care for you, ya ? xD Love you. Saying that, I just realized every time I comment, I forget to like the video. Just start it all to see which one I forgot to like.
6:22 Why speed limits? Why not just set all as max? IRL, it's for security (inertia, wheel friction/slide...), but in CS? Is it for natural looking traffic?
1. My mother would hate this city, if only because she gets so confused in roundabouts lol and 2. This city planner REALLY wanted to make the drivers dizzy
How do people make these nice pedestrian paths arounnd their roundabouts? When I try the paths want to clip to the roads which creates an intersection.

@Biffa Think I ought to send you my railway dilemma. Just a bit afraid of your judgment of my poor city :D
I have never tried the game, but I love these videos, and kind of want to just try fixing traffic on My own :) Dont really care for the game as such :)
when are you gonne start a new city series ? i loved the kerrisdale videos (which you sadly abandoned ) fixing traffic is great but i enjoy the challenges and city building a lot more
Seriously people. Why would you give his videos a thumbs down? If you did I would like to know why, just out of curiosity.
Really wish that PS4 version had the traffic manager mod, doing my best without it is difficult. Or the custom roads mod too....PC master race indeed.
I was thinking when I saw the main road there should be a highway either underneath or above the road so that traffic who wants to go on can go on. So like the bypasses you made, but including a bit between the bypasses.
Biffa The Unclogger! - Amazing work!
Oh, and Biffa (Oh no..., not Pierre again xD), you've seen my comments are a bit rough/rude.
But you don't care of people you don't like.
This means I care for you, ya ? xD
Love you.
Saying that, I just realized every time I comment, I forget to like the video. Just start it all to see which one I forgot to like.
Biffa the biffalo changes the game ten cups out of ten
6:22 Why speed limits? Why not just set all as max?
IRL, it's for security (inertia, wheel friction/slide...), but in CS? Is it for natural looking traffic?
Imagine going around a round-about at 100 mph LOL
1. My mother would hate this city, if only because she gets so confused in roundabouts lol and 2. This city planner REALLY wanted to make the drivers dizzy
Over 3k sips of tea, that is a lot of tea!
When life gives you traffic
:-)
Biffa Plays Indie Games thx for being a great RUclipsr!
Biffa Plays Indie Games you should make more bus stops and taxi stops so the traffic flow might go lower
@@Pilots_s Add more cars to get rid of traffic jams? Hmmm seems LEGIT!
Ray Toney hmm. Seems like a ligit thing hey? Is a bus ligit?
RUclips should just be all Biffa all the time.
👍sip of tea
:-)
Is there a place where I can download the maps as well? I looked on Steam workshop but the traffic fix maps are not that great
1:34 traffic goes round and round. As for the fix? Level 10 Space Rock?
Y’all should have said “early” instead of “first” lol
lmaoooo the pedestrian bridges over the roundabouts are sooooo high up
Don't look down 😲
What is the Toolbar mod that you are using? u can set how many items you want to see at once. i want that too
Hey biffa got a question... Do you only work on the PC version or do you work on the Xbox one edition as well?
If you send me an Xbox One I would gladly work on that too ;-)
Yay! Pls more traffic fixes!
> I Regret Fixing Cities in Cities Skylines
You could always go back to building your own!
What happened to your build a city series? Is the city Veres coming back?
Good video, may I ask for a 'video a day', please? You know, just like "An apple a day keeps the doctor away"
You can ask 😉
How do people make these nice pedestrian paths arounnd their roundabouts? When I try the paths want to clip to the roads which creates an intersection.
I dont have 3 lane roads nor the option to change lanes, i just bought this game yesterday and traffic is a big issue
