  • Decided to see if IR loaders load IRs differently.
One of the IR names didn't save in a clip, the IR files used were
    faIR_MR_GreenBasketCase
    faIR_MM_Mix_Fredman1_Solid

The fact that Line 6 is still a part of comparisons in 2024 is a testament to their hard work, future-proofing their devices. Well done, Line 6!
    Great video!

I have used my suhr reactive load ir box for years now and have never even thought of replacing it. Fantastic and easy to use

I did some tests once with all the ins, outs and fx loops of the kemper, cortex, fm9, and hx stomp. I noticed that just playing through all the ins and outs ,clean with no blocks or eq at all, running in and out of each other, there was some little bit of nuance that physical ins and outs may have been playing a role to where I could here that subtle difference all over every preset like a tiny hint of flavor that each unit embeds on the tones.

Hi!Did you compare it on computer IR loader? Is the sound quality on computer the best?

BTW, Quad Cortex has 1024 point IR length (around 21 ms) almost the same as AMT IR module in Suhr load box.

Which is the same module in the Mooer radar, I believe.

@@RizzleK No it is different. AMT module is simpler. But common IR length comes from available IR length from some DSP API. Long length usually require custom sophisticated algorithm.

That's interesting! I found something a bit similar a few years back just running signal in and out of different devices to hear the tonal changes. I wonder how much of the tonal differences would be just running through the converters?
Also speaking of uncommon IR brands, I picked up the David Maxim Micic Little Cubes pack for $25 last week and it's really neat. He had a long video talking about his philosophy which I dug, and it's got a nice smooth midrange and a lot of character to the different speakers.

Very cool video, you've got great ideas! PS do you think you'll be doing a video on NAM (neural amp modeler) anytime soon? Free VST capture/profiler. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I'm definitely interested in checking that out, but I can't promise when in the pipeline that'll be.

This is the kind of thing a null test is made for! Our ears are more or less useless in this kind of situation. Would require a good bit of cabling, or using a looper.

You literally said it’s two tube screamerish and then said they’re was basically a tube screamer in front of it lol. Fractal is literally the best out there over all yes takes a second to learn how to use it but once you learn it It’s super easy

Just in relation to the others. It's not a negative, it's just something I noticed.
