Woozi wrote this song motivated by a sentence Hoshi said
"This is my first time living today"
That's why we had a tiger at the end, which is Hoshi

The Korean word used here for "youth" doesn't mean young people. It refers to "growth". So this song is for anyone who is experiencing growing pains or growth in their life...at any age or stage of life. :)

Tiger at the end of the Cheers to Youth mv represents Hoshi(the one with the white hair in the Spell MV)

Soooo...On their latest 2-disc "best of" album release, there were 4 new songs: 1) Maestro (all 13 members), 2) LALALI (Hip Hop sub-unit), 3) Spell (Performance sub-unit) and 4) Cheers to Youth (Vocal sub-unit). You missed the Hip Hop team's song, so please react to it as well.
Some inside info regarding Cheers to Youth (my thoughts only):
Joshua ("Shua") has been likened to a meerkat by fans so it fits; and I guess he's wondered if he was lovingly called that or not, only to find he has a SHUA KAT fan club.
Woozi has said many times he HATES shopping, so he has groceries and food delivered; so I think it's precious that when he finally overcomes his social anxiety to go shopping for himself, he thanks the helpful grandmother (a tip of the hat to his own grandmother who inspired the Vocal team's first song "20", as well as to Carats since it's the official flower of Carats) by giving her a bouquet of chamomiles. Chamomiles also represent calm and healing.
DK's pet rock's name is Dodol. He "adopted" a rock after Jeonghan got HIS pet rock named Doljjong. They take turns sharing pictures and updates on Weverse about their rocks, since the rocks keep them company. Perhaps DK is setting Dodol free...a way of releasing an inanimate rock and opening himself up to relationship with humans. (??) I think his line "I want to be by myself, but I don't want to be alone" as he keeps Dodol by his side is the story. (For the record, Jeonghan said THEIR pet rocks weren't used in the video; it was someone else's. So no pet rocks were harmed in the filming of this MV!)
Seungkwan LOVES his phone and has said he wouldn't be able to live without it. The caller on the phone reads "Unknown Caller" in Korean by the way. I also can't help but wonder if it's a little tribute to Moonbin who doesn't call him anymore; and one of the last videos we saw of Seungkwan and Moonbin together were them riding bikes...?? As for the goldfish, many are theorizing that it represents a distraction...something to snap him out of his funk and go outside.
Jeonghan has said he doesn't like getting older as his eyesight is getting a little bad. That's one interpretation. Another is that as he matures, he realizes he doesn't need glasses to see the truth..."Forever Is A Lie"...and as he enters the T[iny]Issue Club with glasses on, his POV sees them as their characters (goldfish, pet rock, phone screen, etc.), and they then come into clear view as the members when the glasses are fully off. It's possible his sadness has to do with his soon enlisting...meaning this happy time in Seventeen's life won't last forever. Of course, Seventeen will ALWAYS live forever in our hearts; and the interruptions while members serve out their time will end and they'll regroup. Yet it will never be like it is now once the members temporarily separate.
So each member brought their fears, concerns, anxieties and heartaches to the Tiny Issue Club, or TIssue Club where they were able to talk things out, gain support and find REAL friends.
I LOVE how Seventeen tackles the REAL issues of people today, and never fails to give hope, support and comfort.
***Here is what was written on the poster of the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB (taken from a Twitter post):"Small Problems, Big Solutions! I saw where someone else commented that the members are representing the various stages of life: Seungkwan (elementary school), Jeonghan (highschool/college), DK (applying for his first job, as that's an application he's filling out), Joshua (young adult) and Woozi (older years when feeling closed off).
And seriously...I ABSOLUTELY ADORE how Woozi thanked Hoshi for inspiring the song! "It just so happens that it's my first time living today" is what Hoshi said when he made some mistake in one of the concerts; and Woozi took that inspiration to make this masterpiece. Though I've seen the comments about Jeonghan saying it was because Hoshi thinking he's a tiger is an issue Hoshi has, and so the tiger was added as a joke, I still prefer the sweetness of Woozi thanking him for the inspiration. Horanghae forever!!

This comment was made by someone else, and I found it under another reaction video that explains Cheers to Youth a bit more, too:
SEUNGKWAN is someone who seems to be always on the edge, either cause of constant calls or his alarms. I feel like he's got a lot of deadlines to beat that when his phone fell into the fishtank and turned into a fish, he wanted to get it fixed cause he knows he needed it for his daily life but neither a fisherman nor the Oppo staff accepted to fix it he then just made it into a pet fish, even showing it to DK (who had a pet rock ) and at the end his polaroid said 'I hope the day would come when my noisy alarm is less annoying'. His one way of reducing stress? Popping bubble wrap, which is probably so relatable with a lot of people.
WOOZI, who in real life we know is an introvert and doesn't really like going out, has a robot who even does the errands for him, like doing the grocery. But being alone only with his robot friend, he eventually felt like there's a missing piece of him as he was doing the puzzle. He tried to overcome his situation and visited the supermarket himself and gave flowers to the grandma staff, probably a way of thanking her. Somehow it feels to me that it's a way of saying we might rely on AI/robots but having to feel that connection with another person still gives a different, warmer feeling. In his polaroid shot, it said 'My friend who brought me out into the world' talking about his robot friend. AI/technology can be a friend but let's not forget about human relationships too.
DOKYEOM is a young adult who seems to be struggling and coping with stress in his studies and life in general. While this is relatable everywhere else, I feel like it's especially true in South Korea where they put value in studying and grades so much that a lot would say, 'Grades isn't everything'. His way of coping is to have a pet rock (who even won a trophy ). On his exam paper (apparently like an MBTI one taken when you apply for jobs), he even wrote Dol (rock) instead of the answer In one scene at the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he himself was the rock which what he also probably feels at times, that he is a Dol Meori (rock head) or someone whose head doesn't absorb anything/someone who isn't bright. Incidentally, I came across a video which claims that young people in SoKor now take rocks as pets to cope with stress since rocks are easier to take care of. I'm not sure tho how true this is but the video did include a clip of Jeonghan and his own pet rock, Doljjong, so some say JH was the one who started this trend Towards the end, we see DK throwing his pet rock away with Jeonghan, probably to symbolize him breaking out of his mindset that he'd never do good with his studies. In his polaroid shot, it said 'With Dolkyeong, who won first place in the idling contest'.
JOSHUA is an office worker who is like a meerkat, cause he seems to be looking at everyone, monitoring them. Turns out, in the note with the umbrella, it said Joshua Daeri-nim (Assistant Manager Joshua) meaning he must be at least a position higher than most of those around him. The reason why he's looking around is either cause he's a supervisor to them or he's anxious of what others might think about him, if he's doing a good job. He seems to be stressed about it that he even dreams about it, falling asleep in his car. Unknowingly, his colleagues actually support him, even having a Shua-kat Club the note on the umbrella said 'Asst. Manager Joshua, thank you for lending me your umbrella' and we see him at the MV's beginning, how he's rained on. He also found a flyer with his photo that said 'We love how you look at us. Keep looking around like a meerkat and we will support you whatsoever, Shua-kat!'. Seems he himself didn't know that he's actually doing great in his job being an assistant manager. In his polaroid shot, it said 'With the Shua-kat Club'
JEONGHAN seems to be suffering from a physical disability that he feels an inferiority complex about it. But during their T(iny)ISSUES meeting, when he took off his glasses, he actually saw everyone in a different light. I feel like he tends to downplay his capabilities and feel he's not good enough when in fact, he didn't really need the glasses. The board he was reading when his eyesight was getting checked said FOREVER IS A LIE. In the end, he also threw his glasses away (in another fishtank) and in his polaroid shot, it said 'Look directly at it, without glasses'. I think in a way, it also gives the message that we shouldn't overcomplicate things at times. See them as they are.

I really really love your reactions - so raw and genuine 😂😂😂😂
I would say if you love Cheers to Youth you will LOVE it's prequel FML (both are my favorite Seventeen songs).
I think you need to watch the guide because it's so many members who've been active for almost 10 years!!! You need to watch the guide - do the "Super Long Guide to Seventeen" the creator is a Carat and you can tell.
If you want a sample of their work, try the "Killing Voice Seventeen".
I'm partial to the Hip-hop unit, so my favorite songs right now are all HHU songs - Oh Yeah, Monster, Trauma, Fire, Lalali, Fronting, Lean on Me, If I (only 2 of these have MV). Cheers is another favorite.
And since you didn't seem to understand about the tiger at the end - Hoshi, one of the members, thinks he's a tiger 😅😅😅 and the song was inspired by him. So, you have to watch Tiger by Hoshi and Tiger JK
Again, loving how you are low-key turning into a carat ❤❤❤
