it will end up actually being pick 18 remember after academy and father-son. But we need more big bodied mids to protect Harley and co. Also we need to actually be moving upwards within 2 years or we will struggle to keep young guys.If we just have 2 decent mids and they're getting smashed every week then they'll be looking somewhere else. So we do have to weigh up youth vs physical support vs talent right now.
Each time we've tried to get small forwards they haven't worked out. Be it Petrovski, Langdon, Brockman ... and any number of small forward types. You don't want to give much up for them.
only player thats worth trading picks for this offseason is warner and thats if the rumours are even true about him wanting out, no way baker is worth a potential AA level player
As a dogs I imagine he is Liam jones replacement. Jones is now 34 I think when he hits the wall, busslinger will be in. He signed on for two more years I think. Plus dominating at vfl level. Only a matter of time till he’s in the team
Full episode dedicated to Mathew Kennedy. It could get the interest sparked for the people that matter like Mathew, his manager and wce. I believe Kennedy, Reid, Warner, Yeo, Baker are a top tier GUN MIDFIELD group. Kennedy and Baker will shine finally without the likes of Cripps, Walsh, Taranto, hindering their progress. Imagine Warner with no Heeney, gulden in the way
all the sides know the draft has depth and is strong this year. so unless there is a player a club is really keen on, then they'll just be happy to have multiple picks in first 20.
@BDub2024 it is a strong draft yes but the talk of who goes one is about the top 6. Eagles need quality mids: one of Draper, Smith, FOS, Langford, Lalor, and Ashcroft. After that, maybe Reid and Smilie. If Eagles drop to 9, they're probably looking at a Bo Allen... sure he's quality but he's not top tier.
As a Richmond supporter even though I really like Liam baker, I have to agree that pick 10 is over his actual value, I personally would rate him around pick 15 - 18 and I think part of that is also just based on how even the top 20 - 30 picks are in this draft but even then i would probably accept pick 15 for him
Dude, i dont normally listen to any trade stuff because its usually the dummies from the studios who do them and they are just bland boring and they try to make it about (back in) their day...yes its great to reminisce, but not all the time, you have to enjoy what ypu have in the now as well! So thankyou for being fresh, clear and understanding, while being pretty informative. I dont mind the odd fantasy trades here or there, Out of curiosity i hope others like this idea as this is off topic...you know how we have an "all australian" team.... Hear me out on this...i never liked the idea of an australian team playing an irish team in a completely different (but same in a sense) they could announce 4 all australian teams, and have a best of the all australians like they would do with the origin, all play each other 1 time and the top 2 teams play off in a gf.
Thanks brother I appreciate the kind feedback. Those kind of all star games would be cool...but I think players and clubs will push back enough to stop it from ever being a thing sadly
Lets not fall for freos games. Put out a rumour that they offer pick 10 so we pay overs for baker. Lets step back and think about whether we'd trade barrass for baker. No one does that. KPPs are gold. I'm ready to walk away from this trade.
@stallon720 it does matter for two reasons Baker stated that he wants a fair and equitable trade. That means if freo offers overs and we offer unders, he will take that into account (negative against us). Second it pressures us to match or at least anchor our offer near there's.
@@Ben-ij6zv Baker said he wants a fair trade, whats fair is subjective and Freo offering huge overs doesnt mean our fair offer is unders. Whatever Freo offer is irrelevant if he doesnt want to go there. We could go and offer pick 3 for Bailey Smith but if he doesnt want to come to west coast then its irrelevant
@stallon720 This is basic demand and supply. If there is more demand, the price goes up. You're assuming he wants to come to west coast. He hasn't confirmed.
@@Ben-ij6zv Read my first reply, I assumed nothing about Baker. "IF" Baker wants to go to West coast then Freo offering stupid overs is irrelevant. Supply and demand in footy is only relevant to a certain point, and Richmond is a motivated seller
Pick 13 will probably end up being pick 18 anyway after father son and academy. Its more likely we will turn either 3 or 13 into multiple draft picks late in first round. Freo should be the favourite to get Baker. He is holding off to have the clubs compete with each other and also because Freo has a chance of getting Bolton or Warner, so he is keeping his options open.
Im a strong pass on Owies. I acknowledge we need goal kicking small forwards, but I dont think Owies quite fits in that category, I think he gets goals because theres nobody else in the Carlton forward line capable. I liken him to Cripps a bit where hes not really a huge goal kicker but still gets in some of the right spots. Owies doesnt bring pressure either, hes another high halfforward like we have an abundance of. Id like us to at least ask Young if he'd want to come over, we could delay drafting a KPD if he was to come, work with HEdwards, Young and Bazzo with Gov nearing the end. Agree Kennedy is the best inside mid on the market, but cant see it happening. I think we should be looking for 2 of those fringe mids from other clubs, id just make sure at least one of them isnt a pure inside mid, they need some positional flexibility. Garcia, DevRob, and Graham can play a bit forward but a guy like Parfitt who is available probably cant. If it means Yeo and Kelly move out of the middle more in 2025 then thats fine, they both won AAs off HF/HB flanks. I dont think we are out of the picture for Peatling just yet either, he would be right up there with Kennedy at the top of the list of mids to recruit if possible.
I'd rather get free agents in and use draft picks in 60s and 70s for some hard working guys that have been delisted. Any good guys we can use late draft picks for? That's where we can get tall defender or tough midfielders. Eagles need support for young midfielders, be they Baker, Garcia etc...
they won't give up pick 10. Though it would end up being 14. Freo has to weigh up how close to a flag. They will target Bolton first. Then weigh up the chance of Warner in future, or to use a draft pick for Baker.
Has anyone thought of the possibility that maybe the Richmond players don't want to be coached by mcqualter and that's why they haven't decided yet? (Just a thought)
The small forwards were pretty bad this year, Cripps kicked 27, then you get down to Ryan and Petrucelli who probably barely got 27 between them. Owies is a good opportunist. He impacts the scoreboard from limited supply. There is always a spot for a goal kicker.
@@spindoctor6385 but each time weve gone for small forwards recently they've been duds. i reckon mids are so poor at the eagles it needs to be a priority.
@@BDub2024 Yeah, I guess there are weaknesses all over that need filling. I guess it comes down to how they want to fill them, going to the draft for mids to build a core of guys coming through together and filling other role players like small forwards and "third talls" with trades and free agents makes sense to me.
@@spindoctor6385 I reckon they need to maximise draft picks. But also need to try to bring in midfielders. Its ok if they're in mid 20s and don't have to give up too much. I reckon pace and big bodies is pretty important. Like the Sam powelpepper type physique, who can work hard and provide physical support. It will be tough on Reid over the next 3 years if he is flying the flag each week in the losing team and getting a lot of physical treatment at the same time. He will need support and you can't rely on Yeo being fit and Ginbey is being played increasingly down back. So they will need a decent ruckman coming through in the next year too, even if they're a veteran. Our young mids are already doing it tough, add a losing ruckman too, and it all seems too hard.
Fantastic episode as usual, definitely some interesting rumours in the mill.
Keep up the awesome work 💙💛🦅🏆

If we give up 13 for Liam Baker then just pack it up. We'll never contend again.

100% correct , future 2nd rounder would be ideal
If we part with anything higher than 23 for Baker I'll be pretty annoyed. He'd be nice to have but we need to hit these next 2 drafts hard.
Agree on the 'nice to have' point - top 20 picks in this draft should be our priority
Agreed, imagine trading a star in Barrass to get more top end talent in at the draft and then using that pick on Baker who is 2 years younger lol
hey mate never feel like your not sucessful if your not killing it on youtube, alot of people love these vids more then ya probably know
Thanks brother!
Need running half backs. If anything. This could be crippas replacement
i reckon we're ok there with Hunt Duggan Cole Ginbey Witherden... Even Dewar may end up running thorugh there.
We do need half backs. We've got Long as a Cripps replacement.
Champion this year, Walley and Evans are forwards next year.
