Amazing discussion team, what i have noticed the last 3 years is how mizuno has developed the range now... great drivers, omoi putters and the wedges are greatly underated also. Again i think for them it is marketing and they don't put much into sponsorship of players.
Wilson putters are amazingly good value for the money. Ping for me though. The woods are supreme. Plus Kieran is great he is just a different cat and brings a completely a unique perspective. 😊
If price is not an option, why not Mizuno ? STZ-230 Driver, woods, hybrids, Mizuno Pro 223 Irons, T24 Wedges and OMOI putter. For forgiveness and feel, no one beats Mizuno.
the best golf clubs for this year in particular I'd put Wilson right up there. Drivers/woods, Irons are always brilliant, wedges are decent enough and the classic 8802 putter :D I'll throw a triad or Staff ball in there too
Surely the tee-shirts needs to ask; WHERE IS MY MATE MERONK? also pete glad to see that you have begun your mid life crisis. May the hat be only the beginning of your 'interesting' future choices.
As a high handicap golfer I have just put T400 in the bag including tsr1 hybrid, I have played all brands over the years including the Wilson lp (am 35) no shame great clubs, however I feel Titlesit you can process with them from high handicap down even with balls they suit a golfer to progress high to low handicap and you can buy with confidence that the clubs wedges putter will always be good.
I picked up Golf during COVID, did the full fitting experience and went with performance in fittings for the full bag about two years ago. Had a mix of PING, TaylorMade, Callaway, Srixon and Evnroll clubs. SInce then, I have gone back and replaced most of those clubs for a full PING bag, including those very pretty i525's. Once you are hooked on PING gear it is very hard to get away from them.
An overlooked area is upgrade charges on shafts which can add a lot onto the price. I think Mizuno may offer the largest selection of shafts at standard price than any other manufacturer.
I have it covered Titleist Dr & 3W, Ping hybrids, Taylor Made irons, Cleveland wedges & Toulon putter. Get what works for you for each part of your game
I have Callaway woods, wedges, bag, and Oddessy (?) putter. But I very much favor Ping irons. Pings iron fitting system has always been the best for me.
Top to bottom bag is tricky. Since having allready a history with some brands it is tough to look away. Never gamed TaylorMade irons, but was really pleased with their woods, had a TourBurner and still play R9 TP fairways, three and five. Irons been changing within Mizuno models for the last decade and now playing Miura irons. I could probably be described a purist and a low handicapper. I tend to find the sweetspot often, and love the crisp and solid feel of the custom forged blades a lot. There is no or next to nothing offset in my clubs, and I find hitting the likes AP2 straight or with a mild draw with the offset they have. Need to get a feel of a push to make them go straighter.
Couple of nice comments on Wilson, the carbon dynapower driver £400, 3 and 5 wood, £400, d9 forged irons £500, 3 wedges £360, top of the range putter £300, and top of the range triad balls for bang on £2,000. For a near TOP OF THE RANGE set of clubs
We may have to amend Peter's comment about any manufacturer that could make a driver that was five yards longer (than the other drivers) would then capture sixty percent of the market. Based on at least one test (Ian at Club Champion), the Cobra Aerojet is 7-10 yards longer than the other current offerings. However , Ian choose the Titleist over the Aerojet, based on ball speed, despite the Titleist being out driven by 8 yards. So, the amendment would be, if you're one of the top manufacturers and you make a driver that hits it five yards farther, then you can capture the market. It seems no one is considering Cobra a top company, which is somewhat sad. 😢
Titleist for me - Scotty Cameron and Vokey wedges speak for themselves. Seems like all the top players played Titleist as amateurs and many non contracted pros seem to play them on tour. I've played Mizuno, Ping, TaylorMade, Callaway, Hogan over the years but my current Titleist irons are the best set I've ever hit
Cleverly Pete said at the start he wanted to make a new set and leave the balls out of it. Obviously because picked Ping. But at the same time he’s right with the irons and the woods. Expensive but long lasting and forgiving. Although them wedges don’t look great and the slightly longer toe away from the groves doesn’t look great over the ball. Vokeys all day. As in like what’s in his bag haha So to be honest I’d go with titleist mainly because every part of the bag they are classy and feel and look great and to go along with that they make the best ball in golf. 🤷🏻♂️
Excellent discussion really appreciated it but the biggest problem with Srixon is that there aren’t that many places you can get fitted for them. When I was getting fitted earlier this year I couldn’t find a local stockist/fitter in or around Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire which was very disappointing as the new irons were on my list to try Thanks
If I could only pick one, it would be Ping. I think I could find a lot in the Callaway line as well, but I have never been a fan of Titleist or Taylor Made irons. I have hit some Srixon irons, and I liked them, never hit one of their woods. Never hit a Mizuno club so can't go there. Ping has the best putters, in my opinion and experience, plus they have top-3 in irons, drivers and fairway woods, the only question for me are their wedges, because I have never really used them much. I would imagine that Pete has access to all these clubs, you all should build your own bags and play with them and see what happens, then come back in 6 months and let us know.
If Pete could hold the mic off his mouth, when talking it would be easier to understand his muming. While not native in English seeing the mouth while talking makes it easier to hear what is said.
Titleist overall, but the callaway apex cb irons just released are my favourite irons I've tested, over the t100 and t150. Theyre beautiful and feel amazing
I currently have Titleist driver and wood, Srixon hybrid, Cobra irons, More Golf wedges, and a Costco putter. I don't know that I could find a full bag from one manufacturer that would work for me.
Personally i can not stick to one brand so i have to say ping driver with the rest of the bag Titleist housed in a taylormade bag and a taylormade ball. i think this was a great podcast none the less
It would take a lot to switch out of using Mizuno blades...(i'd move to Miura if money allowed!) - but one brand for the whole bag.... has to be Titleist. Has to be!
Pete was actually wrong about ping introducing a carbon crown on there driver for the first time in the G430 as the Ping Rapture driver had a carbon crown & to defend Kieran mygolfspy rated the Cleveland HB Soft putter best blade putter of 2023 wish he used this hahaha
OK ... now at over 40 minutes into the vid the battling the equipment nerdy choices and defenses. 😂🤣 Priceless. You should all take the same ... Pinhawk SL would be the pick from me to you. Your welcome. 😂🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I play predominantly Callaway and love them but I think Srixon is right on the money… even Cleveland Frontline Elite Putters aren’t too shabby. Value for money the whole line performs just as well as anything else. Callaway probably would get the win but for their wedges. They just feel too firm.
Srixons are forged in Japan. Miuras are the only iron I consider equal. Mizuno is close. Out of the American brands nothing is really that close in feel.
Here, here! Mizuno has that finishing forging by grain flow, which makes them feel the most soft and responsive buttery there are. Miura has a more solid, crispier feel than Mizzies, but still remain at the buttery range, while all other brands have felt really hard on the face. I’ve hit all brands in demo days since early 2000’s, but no off the shelf clubs have come close to Mizuno by feel.
Is there an argument that bigger advancements have been made in shaft development and the market for shafts for fitting that manufacturers can use to help prove their claims for new products. Big difference in shafts in the last 10-15 years than the standard steel, or graphite
This unfortunately shows that pricing for the average golfer is just mad. My current bag cost me less than a stealth. And other than putters I've no desire to change. Especially as a casual golfer.
What's happening with this podcast right now?! I just zoned out after a while, sorry. Get to the points ladds and please be a bit prepared when you start. I want to be entertained not bored to death while waiting for you to say something for real.

I'd go PXG!
Great discussion lads, as an equipment nerd I love this stuff. But everyone knows without question that Titleist make the best golf clubs
the best golf clubs for this year in particular I'd put Wilson right up there. Drivers/woods, Irons are always brilliant, wedges are decent enough and the classic 8802 putter :D I'll throw a triad or Staff ball in there too
Love the content fellas! Been a fan for awhile now.
IMHO, Titleist makes the best golf clubs.
So why their best players used to play Miura ”Titleist Tournament blades”?
@@PetSKi67Used to...

Very surprised PXG not featured in the conversation. Broad offering of drivers, woods, irons, wedges and putters aimed at different handicap levels…

No chat on any of the golf over the weekend?

PXG is soooo underrated in this discussion!!! They make some amazing soft clubs. Expensive, but super nice! 💯
I think Kieran said something about the value of them ”bags. Miura has all the sections covered as well.
Intrestingly, Pete did not say a word of PXG, yet gone for the treatment and met Mr Parson himself.
Excellent podcast Pete and Team, so so so funny, Well done, Absulute pure class 🏌♂⛳👌
Very funny one guys ! Loved listening to you all defending your favourite brands .
Pod was great boys. But more importantly loved the Top Gear outro from Pete. Also I personally would probably take Taylormade for a top to bottom bag.

Pete is wrong regards Srixon forging, ZX range is endo forged in Japan, widely regarded as the best forging process in the market.
If I could only pick one, it would be Ping. I think I could find a lot in the Callaway line as well, but I have never been a fan of Titleist or Taylor Made irons. Kieran is on another planet, playing a different game. As if no one picked Callaway & Odyssey
Will have to stock up on bucket hats to wear for next season. Could be the next big thing 😂

wishing Mickolas a fantastic holiday and safe travels.

For a bag with the same name on each club.. has to be Mizuno for me.
Pete could sell snake oil to a snake oil salesman 😂 33:14
Entertaining conversation but the factual answer is Callaway,
You guys are all wrong. The one you should have picked is: Wilson!
I love my Wilson putter - couldn’t dream changing it.
I play predominantly Callaway and love them but I think Srixon is right on the money… even Cleveland Frontline Elite Putters aren’t too shabby. Value for money the whole line performs just as well as anything else. Callaway probably would get the win but for their wedges. They just feel too firm.
Titleist! Best all round clubs 😁

Huntington beach putter is also great ! Biggest surprise for me when I tested it against Scotty and ping.
4 pork chops and a pound of mince please Pete! 😅
Nice hat Peter
@Finch, stop humming into the mic! Articulate, please!
Titleist is the best all around club maker at this time.
This unfortunately shows that pricing for the average golfer is just mad. My current bag cost me less than a stealth. And other than putters I've no desire to change. Especially as a casual golfer.
also - how's Pete gonna pick Ping when he has one(?) Ping club in his bag!?
Cobra seems to have fallen off planet in popularity lately
What's happening with this podcast right now?! I just zoned out after a while, sorry.
Get to the points ladds and please be a bit prepared when you start. I want to be entertained not bored to death while waiting for you to say something for real.
I miss the indexing of the podcast.
Ping? Ooh no.. and £499 for a 3 wood!! 😮
Titleist not trends
Mizuno is a shout too - I think you all won. Or you all lost, not sure which.
Also - would’ve loved to know who your number 2s were, to see if there’s a bit of a tie breaker.
If one wanted to think about a club that changed golf - it would be the ping anser - I mean EVERY brand copies this putter
Not sure why but find it difficult when David speaks doesn’t have as much personality as the other lads
LOL...the man promoting PING has only one PING club in his bag ?????
Titleist all day long!!! Make the best golf clubs top to bottom without a doubt🏌️♂️⛳
A fun, and very silly argument. Superb. One brand; why would you? As for branding, never over claim if you want credibility.
Lol using an n=1 for price is the opposite of scientific
Too many man legs again. Please address via pants, afghans, desk, or pixelization.
Taylormade woods have been dog shite since the R1 driver. They have had flawed faces ever sense.
Waste of time for me at least. 1 hour discussion about opinions on manufacturers. 😮
