90s Moomin vs Moominvalley Audio Swap

- So a few months ago I wanted to see what 90s Snufkin sounded like with Moominvalley Snufkin's voice and did an audio swap and I liked the results so I decided to do a few more and compile them together!
I still have a lot to learn about lip sync editing, syncing audio with actual mouth shapes is definitely a lot more difficult than just with lip flaps lol. But I'm having a lot of fun with it!
I may do more, but I am limited with only having 13 episodes of Moominvalley to work with, but if any of y'all have any suggestions for what scenes I could swap, please let me know in the comments!

I kinda think that there needs to be a inbetween of the two, 2019 sounds way to old, even though he is supposed to be a teenager but 90's sound like he's like 8 even though he is preteen.
I like both Snufkin VA's but I prefer the Moominvalley one more for two reasons.
1) It's a clever way to show that Snufkin is a traveller to give him a slight accent, especially a Nordic one.
2) His voice is smooth melted butter on my warm golden toast.

God I forget how much more tolerable Little My's voice is in Moominvalley. As much as I like how cheerful the old voices sound, the much more mature new ones ring out to me way more. Maybe because it was built for English instead of dubbed!
I was really surprised the first time I heard 90's Little My's voice. She was so loud! >_< But I miss it now. Both voices suit her in different ways.

Little My is super abnoxious in the 90s version for sure and basically in every dub, but that's kinda her character. Though i agree new one is more tolerable and doesn't make your ears bleed after an episode.
'I'll find you out, you tricksy old beanbag' really sold the new voice actor for me, it was still sassy and cute but not intolerable
The English dub's script is so good, tho, that' it's impossible to even know it wasn't originally in English. That script wowwed me constantly.
Moomin’s new voice makes him sound a older and more mature which I quite like. Makes him and Snufkin feel closer in age.

i must say the 90s dub has its charm but the moominvalley voice actors just fit their roles so perfectly and really add to the serenity of the whole show

You know, when Moomin sounds younger it changes the dynamic between the two of them by making him seem like a kid that looks up to a reassuring adult instead of guy that wants to impress his friend.

19 snufkin sounds very awkward to me. And Moomin as well. They wanted to make him sound more mature but now he acts like a big baby. They could have done a better job in my opinion

I love both of the 90s and the remake and many people are having a debate whether what Moomin show has the best voice actors. All I can gladly say is that I love the voice actors in both shows. Everyone has its own charm and cuteness to it and both deserve all the love and praise :>

I love Taron's voice for Moomin, it fits him a lot better than the 90's even though I like the 90s Moomins better. But for Snufkin I actually REALLY love the Polish voice actor, idk

The cast for Moominvalley has outdone themselves; Their voices fit perfectly with the characters.
However, I would love to see New Snufkin with Old Snufkin's voice. Both are lovely, however I do have some bias towards his old voice.
Am I the only one who actually prefers the 90s voice acting?
I just think that it gives each character more personality with different accents and ways of speaking. When everyone speaks the same way it's harder to tell who's talking and makes the dialogue so bland.
The thing about the 90's voicework is that it's a dub, which makes some of the English translation and even the acting somewhat forced. However, the voices themselves are very good and appropriate. If there was no translation or rewriting of the script, i.e. the script and animation were made from scratch in English, then it would be perfect.

I feel like the voice acting for Moominvalley is perfect, and almost made for the show and atmosphere it has. However Edvin Endre fits 90s Snufkin alot somehow.

I love the 2019 voice acting! To me, the 90s version is like theyre still children and the 2019 seemed like theyre already adults (even though both have the characters at a ambiguous age)

It’s so weird that if they swapped voices where how the shows actually were I wouldn’t have liked either show anywhere near as much. (Except moominvalley’s snufkin’s voice is perfect for him in any version imo lol)
I wasn’t sure about the moominvalley voices when I first heard them, but now I feel like there perfect for the show where they look older.

I think the vocies work well for snufkin but not so much for moomin, but I think mainly because moomins 90's voice is very chidlike whereas 2019 moominvalley everyone seems to be a little older. I love both versions, and in fact was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the 2019 moominvalley; it's different and I think thats what I like about it, especially the soundtrack! I love the 90's music but it feels very dated. x

@@jocelynecupcake I have to disagree, I'm my opinion it doesn't sound older it's just sounds different because of his accent. I think both versions of snufkin sound fairly young but I think if they made his voice more childish it would get irritating quickly, I'm not 100% sure but I think snufkin is suppose to be older than Moomin anyway. I think his voice suits his personality very well.
Taron Egerton is excellent as Moomin. Makes him sound like still a teenager, but I slightly older one than how he sounds in the 90s version. His accent is also 👌👌👌

The Moomins really weren't meant to be in 3D, I feel. Seeing all the dimensions kind of takes the charm away. And the backgrounds are overly polished! It felt like a vast forest with dense foliage in 2D. In 3D we can see all the empty bits :/
