The Crescent and Moon isn't an Islamic symbol it was adopted by the Ottoman Empire in the 14th century.
Muslims face Makkah to pray as its the first place of worship for Allah, the foundation was laid by Adam (as) and was completed by Ibrahim (as) and Ismail (as).
The Kaaba is also directly parallel with Bait al Mamur which is another Kaaba in Paradise where 70,000 angels worship Allah everyday, this the reason why birds dont fly on top of the Kaaba they encircle it as we do.. Think about it.
And without the sun and moon how else would Muslims know what time of day it is to pray or what month it is to fast for Ramadan..? Clocks are modern inventions.
I dunno what Jedi's on about saying its inside the Ka'aba hes making stuff up now.

Respectfully Jedi your claims hold no weight that's not a sun nor do Muslims worship the sun or the moon they worship the creator of them both also. In the Qur'an there is the narration of king Solomon demanding that queen Sheba not worship the sun and that she worship the one true god. Your too much into the conspiracy theories. Allah says in the Qur'an the sun and the moon are just there for your to measure your reckoning and time on earth it's as simple as that when your a conspiracy theorist straight forward things become complex and hidden messages appear lool. Some verses for you to reflect as the Qur'an is the main source of our path.
And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah, who created them, if it should be Him that you worship. Quran 41;37
Have you not seen that to Allah prostrate themselves whoever are in the heavens, and whoever are in the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, Qur'an 22;18
And He subjected for you the sun and the moon, continuous [in orbit], and subjected for you the night and the day. Quran 14;33
He it is that cleaveth the day-break (from the dark): He makes the night for rest and tranquillity, and the sun and moon for the reckoning (of time): Such is the judgment and ordering of (Him), the Exalted in Power, the Omniscient. Quran 9;96

There’s no moon and star in the kaaba in gold. I don’t know where you guys found that. The moon and star isn’t an Islamic symbol. The original direction to pray was Al Aqsa, in Palestine. Then it was changed to the Kaaba, Makkah which was built by Prophet Ibrahim.
“For every nation there is a direction to which they face (in their prayers). So hasten towards all that is good. Wheresoever you may be, God will bring you together (on the Day of Resurrection). Truly, God is Able to do all things. And from wheresoever you start forth (for prayers), turn your face in the direction of Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Mecca), that is indeed the truth from your Lord. And God is not unaware of what you do.” (Quran 2:148-149)
We Muslims do not worship the kaaba nor the contents. It’s simply a focal point.
Hope I have cleared up any misconceptions.

Black stones which look like clitoris in a Vagina shaped object at the side of the Kabbha is the greated idol in the world. Muslims kiss caress suck it - they think that somehow this magic stone will clear all of their sins. Total pagan religion no different to Hindusim!!

The earth is a sphere, So if i'm in america the direction of the kaaba would be through the earth right. If i pray to the east wouldn't my prayer just go into space? If the kaaba is just a symbol then why cant i use the sun as a symbol for gods radiance or his creative power or something like that? also since the sun was created by god and not a man wouldn't it be a proper idol or symbol to use for a direction of prayer? Just asking.

  • @salahudeenbinsulaimaan9173
    @salahudeenbinsulaimaan9173 6 лет назад +9

It is a direction for 1 United prayer. The house of Allah was even used by pagans when monotheism disappeared. When pagans took it as their place for worship they placed idols that's why you get non Muslims trying to relate Islami the pagans, if they go back even further they will find its a place of monotheism not polytheism. But they don't wish to go back further and study.
If you search "the golden ratio" of the earth, you will find the Kaaba is at the center. 1.618
Muslims are at the center and we are not about to give it up to pagans again, we give our life before that

What is the symbolism behind the Muslim star and crescent? I did a keyword search of your site and searched my library's reference books and cannot find anything more than a reference to the flag of the Ottoman Empire. Thank you for your interest.
    Published Date: 1998-10-18
    Praise be to Allaah.
There is no basis in sharee’ah for taking the crescent or star as a symbol of the Muslims. This was not known at the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), or at the time of the Khulafa’ al-Raashidoon (the first four leaders of Islam after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), or during the time of the Umawis (Umayyad dynasty). It emerged some time after that, and historians differ as to when this symbol was first adopted and who was the first to adopt it. Some say it was the Persians, others say it was the Greeks, and that this symbol was somehow passed to the Muslims. (See Al-Taraateeb al-Idaariyah by al-Kittaani, 1/320). It was said that the reason why the Muslims adopted the crescent was that when they conquered some western countries, the churches there had crosses on top of them, the Muslims replaced the crosses with these crescents, and the practice spread in this way. Whatever the case, symbols and banners must be in accordance with the teachings of Islam, and as there is no evidence that this symbol is prescribed by Islam, it is better not to use it. Neither the crescent nor the star are symbols of the Muslims, even though some Muslims may use them as symbols.
As regards what Muslims think about the moon and the stars, they believe that they are part of the creation of Allaah, and as such can neither benefit nor harm people, and they do not have any influence over events on earth. Allaah has created them for the benefit of mankind, an example of which is seen in the aayah or verse of the Qur’aan (interpretation of the meaning):
“They ask you (O Muhammad) about the new moons. Say: These are signs to mark fixed periods of time for mankind and for the pilgrimage…” [al-Baqarah 2:189]
[The commentator] Ibn Katheer said, explaining the phrase Say: these are signs to mark fixed periods of time: “From them (the new moons) they may know the times for repaying loans, the ‘iddah (waiting period) of their women [after being divorced or widowed] and the timing of their Hajj (pilgrimage)… Allaah has made them signs to mark the times when Muslims should start to fast and break their fast [the beginning and end of Ramadaan], to count the ‘iddah of their women and to know the times for repaying loans.” (Tafseer Ibn Katheer).
[Another commentator] Al-Qurtubi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his commentary on this aayah [verse]: “This explains the wisdom behind the waxing and waning of the moon, which is to avoid any confusion in appointed dates, dealings, oaths, Hajj, ‘iddah, fasting, breaking fasts, length of pregnancy, rentals and other matters that concern mankind. Similar to this aayah are others (interpretation of the meanings):
‘And We have appointed the night and the day as two aayaat (signs). Then, We have made dark the sign of the night while We have made the sign of day illuminating, that you may seek bounty from your Lord, and that you may know the number of the years and the reckoning…” [al-Isra’ 17:12]
‘It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the number of years and the reckoning…’ [Yoonus 10:5]
Counting the new moons is easier than counting days.” (See Tafseer al-Qurtubi).
With regard to the stars, the scholars of Islam say that Allaah created these stars for three reasons: to adorn the heavens, to drive away the devils (shayaateen) and as signs for navigation. (Saheeh al-Bukhaari, Kitaab Bad’ al-Khalq), as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“It is He Who has set the stars for you, so that you may guide your course with their help through the darkness of the land and the sea…” [al-An’aam 6:97]
“And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the shayaateen (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire.” [al-Mulk 67:5]

This subject got stretched way longer than it should have, in summery the correct Islamic belief & response to this weak & febale doubt that Muslims are worshipping the kaba is found within the Qur'an as Allah the most high said:
    Surah Quraish, Verse 3:
    فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَٰذَا الْبَيْتِ
So let them worship (Allah) the Lord of this House (the Ka'bah in Makkah).

The moon symbol was adopted by the Ottoman empire after the conquest of Constantinople in the 14th century. The symbol was used by the Byzantine empire, and later used as the symbol for Ottomans and Islam post conquest. The ottomans ruled the globe practically for another 500 years, so its no surprise we still see these symbols to this date. Symbols were always discouraged by the prophet muhammad, and there are hadith where he says that flags should only have one solid colour, i.e. Black flag, green flag, white flag.
If anyone understands the basics of tawheed, you realise how foolish it is to even suggest that Muslims worship anything other than Allah, as Islam is the most strict monotheistic religion in the world. Simple as that.

What you people need to understand is that we just pray in the direction of the kaaba. The kaaba itself is a masjid in and of itself. It was a place the prophet and his companions used to pray. You can actually enter it. There's a prophecy that states that the kaaba will be destroyed. When this happens, the Muslims will continue to pray in that direction. So, it has nothing to with the kaaba itself. I hope this clarifies things.

We just send our supplications and the rest is with Allah. This isn't magic, If anyone studied magic you will find this is the opposite of magic.
If you read sura Al A'raf Allah explains how Musa pbuh was even accused of Magic and how he humiliated the magicians and a lot of them turned to Allah in prostration after they saw Musa to be correct and a true prophet.

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in God, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

We don't even think of the Kaba when we pray. People are misunderstanding the reason we face in that direction.
We face towards the direction of Kaba for the obligatory prayers. Obligatory prayers are carried out in congregation lead by one person (the Imam). It would be ridiculous if an Imam is leading the prayer and everyone is facing in whatever direction they want. Or people arguing over what direction they should face. It is a spiritual experience and like with all congregational spiritual actions unity and a common focus is important in enhancing the experience.
For the non-obligatory prayers we can face in any direction.

Asalamualaikum everyone, in all honesty i think Jedi has a valid point to ask why nearly all mosques have the moon and star symbol. We as Muslim, all know that Allah is the Creator, and we worship him alone and not his creation. In regards to the symbol, Muslims adopted the crescent moon and star when they conquered some western countries, the churches there had crosses on top of them, the Muslims replaced the crosses with these crescents, and the practice spread in this way. Whatever the case, symbols and banners must be in accordance with the teachings of Islam (Quran and Sunnah), and as there is no evidence that this symbol is prescribed by Islam, it is ofcourse better NOT TO USE IT. Neither the crescent nor the star are symbols of the Muslims, even though unfortunately many Muslims may use them as symbols.

The moon and the star are an Ottoman symbols for the Islamic caliphate.
The Kaaba is empty inside, its the first house of worship on Earth built by Adam and it was rebuilt again by Abraham and IshmaEl. It was also rebuilt several times after that.
The Ishmaelites used to be monothiests and later they start having idols around the Kaaba and became polythiests.
At the beginning of Islam Musims used to pray taward Jerusalem because the Kaaba used to have idols of the non-believers, however, after the conquest of Makka all idols were destroyed and G-d commanded the Muslims to pray taward the Kaaba (Qiblah) instead of Jerusalem in the new covenant.
With or without the Kaaba Muslims will keep praying taward it because this is the command of G-d in the Quran and it can also be found in the Bible as prophecy that jerusalem mission is completed and a new highway will be in the Arabia..
"We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do."
    Quran 2: 143
    "Comfort, comfort my people,
    says your God.
    2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
    and proclaim to her
that *her hard service has been completed* ,
that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
    double for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling:
    “In the wilderness prepare
    the way for the Lord;
make straight in the *Arabah a highway for our God* ."
    Isaiah 40:1-3

How do you think that you concern about the stone than to have a good relationship with other human beings whom you can see and to share the love and respect with. No wonder why these people are still living in darkness, never think or use their common sense. This is nonsense.

Praying towards the kaaba makes no sense. Praying in unity can be done in lots of ways, for example, praying towards the East as Christians do, based on the orientation of most /church floor plans. (Orient means East, due to the way maps used to be designed.) But towards the Kaaba -a central point- means that every single Muslim is pointing in a slightly different direction: think of the circumference of a circle. But on top of that, Muslims don't believe God is there, so it's like talk to someone with your back to them. It a confused pagan leftover than isn't monotheistic at heart.

As for the moon and the sun, yes i saw that symbol. I think it's from the Ottaman's empire. I gotta ask myself!*

Real Worshippers of the most high would destroy all abominations but you will just carry on like it's not a big deal but when JUDGEMENT arrives don't act ignorant to the punishment served for this blasphemy.

  • @ZagiEscobar

We need to tell time in order to known when to pray, and we used the moon and sun to tell time. There's no depiction of the moon inside the Kaaba. One of the reasons why islamic writings or symbols which would have been islamic writing aren't used is things like leaflets is cause they can be disposed of easily and it doesn't matter what people would do to them. E.g. if it had the basmalah or anything else with ALLAH's name we would be accountable if the leaflet is thrown on the floor and people walk over it thinking it's trash, but it's replaced with 786 or a crescent moon it doesn't matter what people do with it.
There isn't any symbol of Islam, even if some countries still use the crescent moon (like the ottomans did) to depict the start of the month it's not an official symbol that's accepted by the islamic world. Muslims don't have an equivalent of the cross or the star of david, and the crescent only came (became used by Muslims, the crescent was used before by byzantines and sassanids) about from when the areas around the Ottomans became Muslim, it's use doesn't have any origins in Makkah or Madina. And nations peoples from an area like the Levant always bring things with them when they become part of the ummah of Muslims, it doesn't make it something that's islamic, if anything it's just more proof that nations or people of other religions weren't killed off by Muslims and that they assimilated into the new Muslim lands.
And the Kaaba isn't a cube.

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) in Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (11/60).
Because gold and adorning oneself with it are things that are suited to the nature of women and the role for which they have been created, it is obviously wise for it to be forbidden for men to imitate women in that. The great scholar Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in I’laam al-Muwaqqi’een (2/109):
Similarly the prohibition on gold and silk for men is decreed so as to block the means that may lead to men imitating women. End quote

The idea of the moon and star being symbolic is ridiculous. Its a pointless argument, what meaning does he think it has? We worship it or something like that. This has never been seen or done, it's just simply decoration. I think the guy didn't have good arguments, but unfortunately the brother had not given him a good explanation.

This is simply because most of us that are Muslims like the rest of you are human an can get emotional or drawn into a subject without realising give the wrong information
If you have questions you can use your local masjid ask to speak to a sheikh or a mufti or you can use a site called Islam q&a
The above post is for both Muslims and unbelievers

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of life: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
    16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

At the time of the prophete and the earlieast majeed (mosques) that are still standing in yemen do not have the symbol cresent or sun or moon or star. This was symbol came later by the othman empire. Also the reason there is current mosque that have that symbol because just to distingused between mosques and other religion places like churches temples etc. And also decoration like the way decore you wall do worship the wall lol
