I used to watch the golf channel tutorials on TV all night. I didnt play golf it was jus wierdly therapy for me. Good vid bro i just bought this game im havin fun
I can make this a lot easier for you. Instead of calculating the distance the clubs goes times the lie percentage do it the opposite. In you first example the distance to the pin is 137 and you are using a lie percentage of 76%. Instead take the distance to the pin and divide by the lie percent and you will get the distance you need to hit to get to the hole. 137 divided by .76 = 180. So if no wind or elevation then you need to hit a club that will go about 180. Need to consider roll out of the rough. This is easier to do then the way you are doing it. So if you want the ball to go 131 and the lie percent is 77% then you would divide 131 by .77 would give you the number you need to hit. Then factor everything else that you mentioned
I don't believe this is how real golf works. I don't have the club up three clubs to hit out of heavy rough on any course of any cut in the world. Unfortunately the ball and the clubs have zero weight and there are no true physics
I wouldn’t advocate for that because rough also affects spin/roll so what you need to calculate is where it will likely land and then do a feel calculation for how much you think it will roll based on the club and the lie.
Isn't this wrong? If you use this method you will be over hitting your land spot. I keep it simple. Need to carry 100 yards but 75% in rough, so need to add 25 yards so 125 is the number you want to aim for. If you do it your way you get 133, and over hitting by 8 yards.
Thank you soooo much!!!! Man I swear I was hitting 25 over par before I saw this video. I looked at this video and the tempo video and I won my first mycareer game -3 par. I highly recommend to anyone new to the game
Bro, your videos are great! I haven't played a game system in 15 years. I bought a series X STRICTLY for EA's new golf game and was kind of overwhelmed at these new game systems. I found your channel the first day i started playing and you have helped way more than you will ever know. THANK YOU!
Thanks for this. A bit late to the show but I just started playing this. I'm a plug and play type of guy so a lot of the small details of the game have obviously been overlooked. I thought the percentage there was how much of the ball was being struck. This makes more sense now. Thanks.
@@GamerAbility Greatly helped me with the bunkers. I wasn't experiencing the difficulty with Amateur. Once I went to pro-am, It was driving me mad. LoL. Now the bunkers aren't that intimidating anymore. 👍👍
Great video! Love the PGA games and have only been playing by feel without knowing anything of what you discussed/explained in this video. Never knew what those numbers meant. This changed my game by a million! Been watching your other videos and tutorials! Thanks for the content brother
7:24 you can’t do that way cause it change your lie percentage, on your example you passed from 80 to 70% that way, which makes the number you calculated wrong again
I honestly turn off tempo and increase difficulty on swing path.. mostly because I’m not great but 1.37x is the perfect setting for me, I could shoot -8 to +8 any given round
Hello, I play casually maybe 2 days a week online with my buddy. We just do 2v2 matchmaking. Can you recommend my the most forgiving Pro to use? I dont really have any desire to level up my own guy with all the fittings and what not! Thank you
So the most forgiving pro overall to play with regards to both timing and swing plane is Brooke Henderson. Also she has good power as well and a great smooth swing!
Thank you John! So I was actually in the training area and in chipping practice. You can hit B or circle depending on your controller and then move your ball around wherever you want. You can double tap RB and LB to switch hole targets
So I am actually playing wind and lie angles a little bit differently this year. I relied too much on my charts last year and once I stopped using them, I realized I was too reliant on them. So this year I am using a base multiplier in my first calculation and then making corrections based on feel and the eye test. I will make a video of how I am playing the wind this year sometime. Honestly, the wind charts from last year are actually still pretty accurate in this game. Some differences but still usable.
@@GamerAbility would love a lie angle vid. Haven't seen any video on it yet any time I search. I assume if it's downhill it goes right above it goes left like real life but idk how to see how much so I turn it on in career.
Thank you! I used to be a pretty good golfer. My lowest average was around 5 over par, but have had some under par rounds in the past. But I switched to disc golf mostly about 7 years ago and do not really play as much golf anymore. Disc golf is just so much cheaper and quicker. I still love to play golf, but do not get out as much as I would like to.
why do the playable characters like colin, steph, MJ, etc. not have to calculate for lie range in the deep rough but my MyPlayer does? Trying to figure out how to get that perk for my character
Your math is close and thanks for the video but if you add 32 yards you failed to account for the 71-82% range and you are adding that percentage of 32 yards.
So depending on what difficulty you are playing on it may not show. If you have the pro vision settings on for lies it will not show up because the game already does the calculations for you in the club distance shown.
I do use a lot of math. But in simpler terms for players who play by feel and do not want to use math, just club up a few times in the rough and add slight loft and back spin on shot shaping and send it! Will not always be as accurate as calculating the lie range, but still gets the job done.
@@GamerAbility to be honest I'm on the verge of giving up. I've restarted a career about 8 time's, I can't even shoot under par on the Korn Ferry..the slightest slow or fast and it just shoots off. The greens are like a bloody ice rink. Chipping is really hard and frustrating
@@nigeljones1969 Yeah it is a very challenging game to learn, but very satisfying once mastered. I would try turning the difficulty down some to find one that is fun for you and you could even turn greens to slow and soft. You could even turn off tempo if the tempo is getting to frustrating in the difficulty settings. you could also try some of the friction and magnet golf ball fits which make greens softer and slower. I hope you find the settings that make the game fun for you Nigel!
@@GamerAbility thanks, currently on pro difficulty, don't really want to drop down to semi pro as I think it'll be to easy..ill just try and stick with it

I was about to comment this same thing. This is what we did in 2k21. Easier to divide and get your total number.

What an excellent video! I was looking for this! Thank you very much.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful!!!
Good Day to You! I struggle calculating elevation. The tutorials help. Q: Do you calculations apply to the EA Sports PGA 2023 game?
How do I move the practice pin to that location in the extended practice area?
I know how to move the ball position with the "o" key. PS4 controller

This reminds me of playing people online. waiting forever for them to swing
Do you know how much an uphill slope and downhill slope affect the yardage of the shot?

Thank you Shadow! You legend!
Hi Ryan, in your example of 173 to the pin down 7 ft you said you would play it as 175? I would play it as 171
I must have said it backward, downhill 7 ft it would play as 171.
Great video! How did you get into the practice mode on a course?
Thank you John! So I was actually in the training area and in chipping practice. You can hit B or circle depending on your controller and then move your ball around wherever you want. You can double tap RB and LB to switch hole targets
Thank You!
Goat 🐐
PaperBoiii!!! Appreciate you man!!!
Could you yell me what difficulty online gaming is?
So online matchmaking is on Pro difficulty
How do you show the grid when not putting?
Hold down The shot shaping button, so LB or L1 depending on which controller you are using.
What handicap do you play golf in real life?
Are you going to do wind and lie angle charts again ?
So I am actually playing wind and lie angles a little bit differently this year. I relied too much on my charts last year and once I stopped using them, I realized I was too reliant on them. What about yellow and red side hill adjustment
Game is so hard on pro mode. Im starting from ultra easy and working my way up.
Yeah this is a really tough game! But once you get it down it is so rewarding!
I'm seeing way too many players out there not carrying the 3 hybrid and having the shorter 5 instead
Yeah I love my 3 hybrid and my 4 hybrid, they are my favorite clubs in my bag.
☀️☕️⛳️ Cheers
Cheers Kevin! Appreciate you!
How come some playable characters don’t have a lie range in the deep rough? They’re always at 100%
Your math is close and thanks for the video but if you add 32 yards you failed to account for the 71-82% range and you are adding that percentage of 32 yards.
Why does a hybrid give you a worse lie % than even a three iron weren’t hybrids designed for getting out of the rough easier than a long iron.
Trust me viewers, NOBODY has more experience on this topic. You are in the right place! (Jkjkjk)😅
LOL!!! This is so true! Born in the rough! 🤣
Mine don't show percentage??
So depending on what difficulty you are playing on it may not show. If you have the pro vision settings on for lies it will not show up because the game already does the calculations for you in the club distance shown.
@@GamerAbility oh okay so the lie range don't matter?
@@GamerAbility also how do you read the green? Like the club may say 237 yards +3 at the top right, how many squares do I count?
I think you're video has just proved that this game is completely RNG.
its me again Ryan lol
Let’s go R2! You legend!!!
That calculator.....
LOL!!!!!!!
Wow. This is complicated man, why not just club up or down to get to 100% ?
Am I the only one that says "hey Google what's 80% of 196" lol
LOL! That is such a great way to do it! Way better than a calculator!
@@GamerAbility ya I find it's a lot faster especially online lol
Downhill lies in this game don’t play like they do in real life
Totally confused
