i tried the same for the first time at a dog park, and it was so amazing. i used my Canon 50mm 1.8 . you are amazing. i love your work and pictures. keep it up
Imagine walking down the street and someone with a large and impressive camera comes up to you and says they are a photographer. You immediately remember all the memes and viral videos of photographers doing collections on taking pictures before + after telling their subjects that they are beautiful. You think "this is it. This is going to be a moment I might go viral or be apart of someone's art." THEN, it turns out the wildly popular photographer is only interested in your dog, LOL.
@@leighann5308 I use a 50mm. The 35mm is a great option too. Set your camera to continuous auto focus if you have that available. You have several options with your camera settings if you are able to shoot in manual mode, tv, av. I find you want your images sharp so put it in tv mode set your shutter to 1/125 and auto iso. If you are outside it will automatically pick the lowest iso possible. Shooting in this mode your aperture will vary depending on the lens you are using. If you shoot in av mode then try not to use a setting lower than a f2.8. This setting will still give you some good bokeh and most of your shots of the dogs face including the eyes will be in focus. I find shooting at f1.4 depending on the length of the dogs nose, sometimes it will hit the nose on focus and not the eyes. That being said f1.4 is a great look when you nail the shot. I believe Irene is using a setting of f1.2 or f1.4 thats why the leash and owners legs are blurred out. You may not have this type of lense as they are expensive. Look for the budget lenses at f1.8. Each camera manufacturer sells them and they are inexpensive. Anyway, I have rambled on about boring camera stuff. Most importantly, dogs are fun. Have your camera set up on continuous auto focus and continuous shooting, then fire away and have fun! The dog knows when you are having fun and giving them good praise. I bring a squeeky toy too not food. Hope this helps
Kept thinking the same the entire video.. She should've given like an Insta or RUclips name where they could find these photos. I was wondering why nobody asked; I would've loved to have a professional photo of my pet.
I loved this video! I've been taking photos since 2013 of homeless pets (mostly dogs...some cats) at five shelters in my area to help them get their forever home, so I always love seeing dog photography. I do other types of photography, but the dogs (and cats) are my heart. This video made me subscribe to your channel. Can't wait to see your other videos. Love your work.
One of my favorite videos from you, just from an entertainment standpoint. I'm a sucker for a cute pup. P.S. I especially ove the image at 9:14. Great perspective and leading lines.
You just made my day, really! I'm trying to do the same thing but with street dogs, kinds difficult because most of them are really scared of people, but it's just a great feeling
It's so relieving to see the comment section enjoying this and not being "dog experts" and calling abuse or how the dogs are mistreated for the tiniest things. Wonderful community
Really interesting video Irene and AWWsome pics ;) as usual. What I really appreciate so much is you to show how your approach with people for taking pictures, the most difficult stuff while taking pics on the sheet. Thanks for sharing this!
This video is fabulous in many ways. I always greet the dogs in the street. I’m weird like that 😁 The pictures you took are all so adorable and beautiful! What a fun project to do.
My dog wanted me to tell you that this is his favourite video. He also wanted me to tell you that he didn’t try to butt sniff the TV the whole time, but that’s a lie.
My yorkies would be the perfect models to you, cause the are used to the camera, they even smile, I'm not kidding, love your work greetings from Venezuela
This is a fun project. Literally dogs galore over there!!! I had a chihuahua climb on my lap when I was kneeling down to get a shot her. The owner was like she does not do that to everyone.
Elliot Erwitt has produced a couple of great books with his legendary dogs and humour, well worth a thumb through. I’ve often gone up to random people and taken shots of the dogs. The fact I’m usually on a mobility scooter seems to be disarming for the dogs when initially I thought it would upset them. I take their email address, the owner that is not the dog's as I find the doors are very poor at responding, and send them a jpeg if I’m using a digital camera. Unfortunately I tend to use 35mm black and white in urban areas but I have posted a couple of unmounted darkroom images before now. A great video as always Irene and I love how you take on challenges out of your comfort zone.
Very nice video. Could you please share how you adjusted exposure for these shots... especially in such harsh light...in shade and in direct sunlight???
Great video as usual Irene! You should consider doing some voluntary photography for the local animal shelters. I do it for AARCS and they can always use more photographers. It's a known fact it helps the dogs and cats get adopted faster. :-)
Oh wow, this is a great idea! I'm into nature photography but starting to get bored of no live subjects in my shots📸 being shy, this would be a nice way for me to transition into street photography & more specifically people portraits! Thanks for uploading & documenting the journey/inspiration👍✨
Nice pictures. I do that same but with dogs at the dog park. I highly recommend letting the dog smell the camera first, fire off a couple shots so they can hear it and are not surprised by the sound. Also, a squeaky toy right above the lens gets lots of head tilts. =)
Squeaky toys always work 😁 Not so much with cats though. The minute they find out you want their attention, they turn their backs on you 😂 My cat loves this game where I want to take his picture and he refuses to give me that 😹
This video was adorably awesome! Came here for tips for my dogs birthday shoot and this was a pleasant surprise I’m so excited for her birthday hoot now all those dogs were so cute u did an awesome job 🥰✨
Jasmine Alexa I’d be all over some cat walking photos haha I’m in Calgary to and looking to shoot more of animals if you want. Instagram : rccsss if you care to see
Can you do a video where you take great photography of shelter dogs? The would be beneficial and may get the dogs adopted quicker. P.S I have a frenchie and a cattle dog mix. Dogos are life
Fun video, even for a cat lover. But it would sure be nice to know your settings, particularly how you metered the various exposures--spot, center-weighted, evaluative?
Totally forgot to mention that all shots are taken with Canon 5d mrk iii + Sigma 35mm 1.4 :)
What were your settings??
Im so happy to see you using 35mm instead of 85, good job!
Great work! Did you tell the owners that the photos would be online? And did they request photos?
i tried the same for the first time at a dog park, and it was so amazing. i used my Canon 50mm 1.8 . you are amazing. i love your work and pictures. keep it up
Can you tell me, what kind of focusing setting are u using on 5dmk3? Tnx

Bailey Breving lol
Bailey Breving bro I’d be so happy tho like I’d be so proud of my dogs bc they’d be stuntin🤩 like heck yea that’s my pup
This is the best idea ever, dogs + photography 💕
I use to photograph only dogs as a business. I should go back to it. They always have a smile on their face.
True, and they are just so photogenic
BOKEHMASTER what are the best settings for this type of work?

BOKEHMASTER thank you so much for your advice much appreciated. I’m going to go out and give it a try over the weekend. 😊
why are dogs so photogenic?
I know right?! My dog Rocky sometimes is a diva and he doesn’t like to get pictures. But he gives in and then poses
so unfair..
Seriously , I told my girl to smile and she did pose for like 10 minutes when I did a project for my college course
Yasmin Warner wow, lucky :)
Lol
i really wanted that this pictures could reach their owners!!!
Kept thinking the same the entire video.. She should've given like an Insta or RUclips name where they could find these photos. I was wondering why nobody asked; I would've loved to have a professional photo of my pet.
Mridul YES omgggg! and it was for free!
Beautiful photos too! I cherish every photo i have of my dog, she passed away 6 years ago. (Love you Amy)
I actually did ask the owners , but non of them really cared and seemed quite in a rush, or maybe the video camera intimidated them.
Irene Rudnyk hahaha what kind of human is that! They would regret it if they saw the photos!
I'm surprised no one asked for the pictures to be emailed to them.

Why are all dogs so photogenic
So i have a big poodle and a photographer came up to me and said: can i take a picture for a magezine i tought he meant me but no it was my poodle
Oh...that’s kinda sad
xD 😂
Lol 😂
The girl at 2:45 just points and says "go ahead" ahahahah wtf
I KNOW WTF HAHAHAHAA
She looks so done with life lol
OMG sooooo cuteeeeeeee
Owh one more picture
**snap snap snap snap snap snap snap snap snap snap**
hahaha
Really, how can a human being can dislike such a nice project video?
7:53 THE CUTE BLACK SQUIRREL
I think a photographer ppl who takes pic around the place is literally the kindest ppl
One of my favorite videos from you, just from an entertainment standpoint. I'm a sucker for a cute pup.

These pictures and dogs are so great! I couldn't decide on a favourite photo from this video if I had to.
This video made me smile the whole time.
new fav youtuber once she mentioned the little squirrel and doggos ❤️
Honestly saying I was smiling the whole time seeing the video 😆!
*agressively * "GO AHEAD"
literally scrolled down to see if anyone said something lol
this was the most pure video i have ever seen in my entire life

taking pictures of dogs for long periods of time can be exausting in the end, but damn, it is one of the most relaxing, therapeutic things ever!
More dog photo shoots. They are just so adorable!!
This was great. Showing us all how to be fearless doing dog street photography. Great photos. And I loved the Aww count.
My dog wanted me to tell you that this is his favourite video. He also wanted me to tell you that he didn’t try to butt sniff the TV the whole time, but that’s a lie.
*these are the comments I live for* 😂 😂
Awww! I love these. The pups are sooooo adorable.
I had a huge smile while watching this video. Really love dogs + Irene's photos are superb.
My yorkies would be the perfect models to you, cause the are used to the camera, they even smile, I'm not kidding, love your work greetings from Venezuela
These are amazing! I love dogs, they're all so adorable. I'd love to get up the courage to go out and do this! Amazing work as always Irene! xx
This is a fun project. Literally dogs galore over there!!! I had a chihuahua climb on my lap when I was kneeling down to get a shot her. The owner was like she does not do that to everyone.
Videos like this are so adorable to watch. Thank you for lighting the mood of the day!
i think you should ask the owners if they want to see the photos. i certainly would have liked that as the owner.
Markus Pettersen she probably got there email address to send to the owners but edited it out because she didn’t want people to know the emails
Galactic_GamerGirl 1062 just a simple text on the video would clarify that
Galactic_GamerGirl 1062 doubt it
@@Galactic_GamerGirl that's what jessica kobessi does so hopefully she does the same
I love the confidence you have taking the photos. I'm a landscape photographer and I find it very difficult to take photos of people.
Or dogs lol.
This is the video I didn't even know that I needed. OMG, so in love
Loved this video Irene. I usually watch and like all your stuff. But had to stop and comment how much I loved this. So cute.
They’re all so adorable!! Loved the pics!

I agree. While this is a fun video, it's not very helpful for people wanting tips on settings.
You can change the ISO and adjust the shutter speed higher for up to 1/4000
Omg the SQUIRREL was so CUTE 😍😍 !!!!!
Irene is like 'OK, just 1 more picture' *click click click click click click*
dogs + irenes photography = the perfect combo!
Great video as usual Irene! You should consider doing some voluntary photography for the local animal shelters. I do it for AARCS and they can always use more photographers. It's a known fact it helps the dogs and cats get adopted faster. :-)

This inspires me. The bokeh and the lighting just spot on.

Irene I LOOOVE your colours.

Can you do a video of how you focus on the subject so fast and sharp?
What a fun video! Loved it!
I can promise you, my Awwww-count is way higher than yours! 😂
I did the same thing last year!It all worked! Thanks for the tips!
The second photo of the dog with the Hotdog is absolutely gorgeous!
Can you do a video where you take great photography of shelter dogs? The would be beneficial and may get the dogs adopted quicker.
P.S I have a frenchie and a cattle dog mix. Dogos are life
Penelope's Art and Animals good idea
Really what does it look like? I have a frenchie but I've never seen that kind of mix

Fun video, even for a cat lover. But it would sure be nice to know your settings, particularly how you metered the various exposures--spot, center-weighted, evaluative?
I kept smiling throughout the whole video, so cuttteeeeee
Did anyone ask for your info so they could see their dog pictures online?
