    Today, we're playing Hassassin Bahram vs JSA Shindenbutai, as I continue my exploration of N5 Hassassins by asking the question: what if, gun? Hassassins are a faction that spent much of N4 very much bound to the 24" range band, but a new edition requires questioning old paradigms and there are of tools they have access to in this edition that maybe let them dabble in the longer ranges. Or just get eaten in close combat by a triple-elite heavy infantry Shindenbutai list.

    Thank you for the video. We have lots of new JSA players in my area, and I'm glad to see I wasn't too off the mark when giving Shindenbutai list advice.
    I'm a big fan of Hassassin Bahram in N5 and appreciate seeing a different list than what I've played so far. I've been skipping the Shakush and Asawira, so maybe I should revisit them.
    I'm really liking the Govad HMG or AP Shock Sniper rifle especially duo'd with a Lasiq AP Viral Marksman. The Lasiq shoots if I have an advantage and want to win the F2F more with mim-3 and marksman, while the Govad is the backup if the opponent has negative modifiers and I need to cancel Mim or BS-3.
    Nadhir and Shujae are mission completing and defensive beasts. Shujae fires its flammenspper during ARO, then moves up and hits a button, then goes into suppressive giving Mim-6, Cover-3, Suppressive-3 penalties to hit it. Smoke and eclipse can counter it, but it is a great way to defend an objective on turn 2/3 and makes it a bit harder for player 2 to close out a game.
    Guided missile plays are still possible with how cheap the Barid and pitchers are.
    Fidays are scalpels that can still kill without being infuriating and dropping templates everywhere.
    Shakush and Ayyar have a purpose. Asawira, Sunduqbut, and Bokhtar are still usable. McMurrough may be in the dog house for a bit.
    The Ragik with hacking and D-charges is a good classified piece. As a side note, why does the Ragik have Carbonite PS=6, that is the most random upgrade I've seen on an N5 profile so far?
    There are so many ways to build a list now and it was great seeing even more variety after the Colder than Carbonite video.

    Thanks for the mention and the video Rob, it was a great watch. I think we do attack runs similarly, and while Shakush was not something I ever used, its an interesting idea to fit that in. Funny that it did nothing haha.
    Shujae with the flammenspear sounds quite good, and I might swap him in for the Ayyar in the future. Saying that, I had a very interesting game against MO in between my message to you with the Ayyar, where my Deylamis failed their Aro's and died first turn against a very aggressive opponent, and the Ayyar had to basically carry the whole game using the Zapper on Joan + 2 hospitallers, and proceeding to murdering them all with the help of a Fiday. Really liking the Ayyar so far, even though he is obscenely expensive.
    Keep up the good work! -S

    Thank you for the video. Looking at the Colder than Carbonite list, maybe the we should explore using the Ayyar for long range soft kills in HB? A E-mitters seem really dangerous now in N5 and getting on a BS13 triangulated fire piece with burst 3 might work. Just sad that Saladin is vHaqqislam's only option. He seems like a complete package right now.
    This will be an amazing time for discovery and I look forward to all the exploration.

      Hassassin Bahram feels like it has multiple possible list archetypes at the moment, depending on what you're going for. On EMitters specifically, I think it's important to think of them as a tool but not over-value them, exactly - 'soft kills' in infinity vary wildly in impact (which includes extremely high value but also extremely low value) - but since the EMitter Ayyar profile is *also* the one with the B4 Triangulated Fire AP Rifle and Viral Pistol, you've got ample follow up or hard kill potential against most enemy models.

    Damn that table looks like a shooting range

    • @R0bertShepherd

      The rooftops were a touch exposed, but the alleyways actually offered extremely covered movement up and around the table. It might not be obvious from the photo but quite a few of the buildings are in contact with each other, forming quite significant LOS blockers at ground level.

Just jam the second group with dangerous midfield killers and your first group can be mission optimized (this is for highly classified). The disco baller ayyar is my problem solver...his breaker rifle deleted turrets and the baller gives you great freedom of maneuver.

    • @R0bertShepherd
      @R0bertShepherd  День назад +1

      So the reason I say the Hatomoto is vulnerable to Continuous Damage is that it's total ARM after nanoscreen is only an effective 5. It's a very low-ARM overall model (the lowest ARM Heavy Infantry in the game), getting by on visual modifiers and wounds. This means that when it copped multiple saves from a PS4 continuous damage HMG, it was trying to save on 9s and went down fast as a result.

  • @Heletilla
    @Heletilla 2 дня назад +2

    I feel like the Shakush gaining Continous Damage on the HMG really gives it the extra little bit of oomph to make it a valid big gun. Also, the changes to frenzy and fireteam rules make the AP spitfire Shakush comparison with the Asawira AP spit not as damning for the tag as before. Still, at ARM 6, it's not a tag that can just push past aros that plink off armor, so it's still quite limited. The real money for HB long range shooting is on the new Lasiq, in my opinion.

    • @R0bertShepherd
      @R0bertShepherd  День назад +2

      I have higher than expected hopes for the Govad HMG as well. It's just a good solid gun platform that can at least partially mitigate every negative MOD in the game, for not too many points. I've used it once and it, uh, did nothing - but a 28pt model can afford to do nothing, whereas a 58pt model can't.

      I’ve really liked the lasiq and even the muyib HRL. the x visors means they can really reach out and touch far targets, putting even HMGs into poor range bands
