You shouldn't need to add any line dressing to slick cast, if anything just clean the line gently in lukewarm soapy water (dawn or similar), and dry with microfiber cloth.
Never been into Rio’s flylines but this new coating wow I really hate using Loon streamline grease to make the line slick Just love 💓 it but hate the price tho
The Premier RIO Grand, does not feature our ConnectCore Plus technology limiting stretch. However, generally throughout the entire length of the fly line, from pulling at both ends you might be able to achieve a maximum of 2ft of stretch.
If the slick cast line cracks at 40 thousand cycles, isn’t it irrelevant that abrasion happens at 150,000 cycles? And is the elite range more durable than the premier range?
It probably is in fishing circumstances, but the labcoats have their "tests" they conduct on all lines, and these are the two. The Elite series has the same coating, so wouldn't be noticeably more durable than the equivalent Premier line with SlickCast.
@@RIOPRODUCTS in 25 years of fly fishing I never stuck to one brand of fly line, until I was lucky enough to buy a Rio gold on sale, I only use Rio now.
I would love to see a durability test that includes temperature changes and chemical resistance. In addition to running through rod guides, or the occasional underwater obstacle, our fly lines are subjected to salt water, oily water, tanic water, etc. This, combined with a season full of temperature changes both in the water and in the sun, combine to make line cracking a lot more frequent than just the light abrasion that occurs when shooting through our rod guides.
Why not just say the names of the lines you are testing it against? Is it like a courtesy thing? I mean obviously you had an airlfo line in there but not many would see that, and until you showed it I couldn't have known.
Sadly, a this is a failure. The slickcast coating on mine wore out on the FIRST DAY of fishing and it was like any old cheap, dirty and sticky fly line. (Edited to add that I bought an Elite Gold WF5F)
Really? I have to say that the crew here are taken aback by that comment, and terribly sorry that somehow you got a line that didn't work as it should have. Would you be comfortable sending a similar email to our CS team, as they will replace it immediately for you - cs@rioproducts.com
@@RIOPRODUCTS @RIO Products I've been back to the shop I bought my line from and it's the same story. My line was not from a faulty batch. It is, sadly, just standard Rio fare. At this point, it's the last straw in a series of disappointing purchases of Rio products. As a consumer, I do not wish to face any further disappointments, and will cease buying Rio, indefinitely. I've been fly fishing since 1988. I witnessed Rio's inception as a company, bought a few products in the early days and was disappointed, gave Rio a wide berth from 2005 through to 2019, and decided to try Rio products in the last 2 years to the tune of USD1000 in various items, mainly lines, which in some way failed to live up to expectations. Am I being unrealistic, I ask myself. No, not when comparing Rio to other established brands. This fly line was the last straw. No more. Regards, Ryan Lee.

so touching for an excellent video
Hi there when dressing a Slickcast line with agent x or any other line dressing will this mask the Slickcast formula?

I’ve bought a Rio grand premiere, I thought it’s meant to have stretch but it as none. Is this correct?

Good question, but we decided not to name the competitor lines we tested SlickCast against as it seemed a little petty - rightly or wrongly...
2:00 didn't know Ridge line will crack, they are PU????!!!!
Sure they do. They don't crack with UV, but they do through usage
