    Cool nail colors. Didn't realize how much nicer it looks for "talking hands"-style videos.

    Wonderful photos! Thanks for the video. I’m just getting into large format and this is very helpful.

    Thanks, I remember you mentioning this but it's great to see it demonstrated! Impressed by how spirited and thorough you are at agitation. If you ever get tired of developing film, you could always get a job at your local hardware store as a paint shaker!

    I am really encouraged to see that the left and right film edges don’t show signs of poor development. On the onset I was worried that the developer wouldn’t flush through the narrow space very well. Your agitation method probably helps too. Thank you for the review!

    I wish my reel had given me a nice experience, I ended up giving up and getting into the Stearman Press, which has been a somewhat more fiddly but much better experience. Only does 4 sheets, but that's not a big deal for my own personal stuff. This reel had me damaging the film trying to get it out of there and generally had a hard time getting the negatives to be clean when they came out.

      Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. For myself, it’s been the best option out there. With that said, did a lot of tests to get myself to a point where it became my favorite. Did a lot of A/B tests with jobo expert drum until I couldn’t see any difference in the scans. That said, stearman press is a great option. Mine leaked a lot and didn’t have as smooth of development, so that was a big reason for seeking a viable alternative. Cheers & thanks for watching!

    I'm adding 5x7 to my large format options. Would you make an info video on the B's 5x7 Reel? Thanks.

      It would be the same as this reel. Only difference being size. Don’t personally shoot 5x7 or have any plans to shoot it but all of the things mentioned, would be exactly the same.

      Thanks! I went to PolaCon SF last year. Will likely go to PolaCon Texas 2023, but not likely that I’ll go to SF PolaCon 2023.

    I just started shooting film again after 13 years. I just ordered that piece and the roller system from your other video. Do they play well together? thanks

      I’d advise just doing inversion method with this reel. Some folks have enjoyed using rotary, but inversion yields smoother results for myself.

      @@DavesFilmLab thank you. your saving me a few headaches. now for the rotary processor and using it for roll film. Should i do a hand agitation pre soak cycle with a little less cowbell or can i just throw it on the machine? thanks

    • @DavesFilmLab
      @DavesFilmLab  Год назад +1

      @@cecilsharps You’ll be fine to just do the presoak as a stand process or rotary process. The hand inversion is only necessary with the B’s reel and 4x5 films; this ensures proper removal of the anti halation layer. Hope this helps!

      @@DavesFilmLab thank you. It helps a great deal. btw you don't lose the muscle memory for loading roll film on reels or your hand processing technique after a decade.
