    Thank you for taking the time to do this. Just changed mine at 202000 miles. First time. No longer red was black like oil. 12mm hex drain tube was stripping. Another fella on Facebook recommended vice grips with hammer. It worked. He said it happened to him on his first change. I plan to do again on next oil change,at least 3 more times to get a good dilution of used oil. Thanks again.

    Minor tip on checking temperature, most mechanics have one of those cheap IR laser pointers that would work well to check the temp on the pan, which should be close or a few degrees lower that the internals, and if your close to 160F by touch you should get a burn pretty quick if not wearing gloves, thanks for another great video Cory, I let the dealer do a flush with my Amsoil, but ill be doing mine myself after watching your video, I assumed there was more to it running through the gears than just manual shifting with brakes depressed, I assumed the drivetrain needed to move. That and not understanding the fill procedure exactly. Thanks Man!!!!

      I will definitely invest in one of those infrared guns. It would be beneficial to have. I'm glad that you found my video and hopefully you can do the fluid change yourself next time. How much did the dealer charge you for that service if you don't mind me asking?

    I bought a Mightyvac fluid extractor to help make this process easier on my truck. But after watching this video I feel like it should make doing it on my Cruze a lot easier than jacking it up and cutting holes in plastic and all of that garbage lol. But the only thing I don't know, is if I stick the sucky tube into the fill port will it reach the bottom of the transmission to pump out most of the fluids? I just don't know how direct that hole is to the bottom of the transmission, if it is at all. I mean I guess I can just try it and if I get close to 2-3 quarts out it's pretty close to empty? Then maybe re-fill and drive around and do it again to dilute the rest of the fluids from the lines and get those mostly cleared out. I just don't really wanna crawl under it especially because it's cold and my garage is full of other stuff lol.

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  4 года назад

      dedalliance1 - I don't know if you can stick the hose from the mightyvac in the fill plug hole? It might fit, but it might not reach the bottom. I wouldn't want to chance it , but that's just me. You might have success getting all of the fluid out that way, but just make sure that you put the same amount of fluid back in. I would just drain it from the bottom. It's not that bad, haha.

    • @tractortyme

      The Mighty Vac is a great way to replace the old fluid, the hose fits all the way to the bottom. I just notice how much on the scale of the mighty vac I drain out, and replace with same amount. Worked great.

    I am looking at this very vehicle where I am, it is @ $9k. Felt very nice, just felt uneasy about the auto transmission because car facts didn't have anything about the transmission @ 140k miles. But with this I feel like I can buy it and change the fluid myself to catch up. With the lifetime claim I feel like this trans can handle the lack of change for that long no? fadi k - You have the 6T30 (MH9) transmission. The fluid capacity is about 7.6 liters or about 8 quarts and it takes Dexron VI fluid. You'll never drain all of the fluid out, so be careful on refilling! The video that I made shows a totally different transmission, so you can't follow the same procedure on changing the fluid. I've never changed the fluid in the 6T30 before, but I'm sure that you will be able to find something out there on how to do it. I hope this helps you!

      Jarrett Larsen - I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you didn't drain the fluid out yet! This seems to be a common problem. They must over tighten it from the factory. If you can weld, then it's possible to weld a nut or bolt on top and then loosen it that way. I would try to cut a slot in it and try to use a large flat head screwdriver and then grab a hammer and try to break it loose. Maybe somebody has a better idea? Good luck with it and let me know what you end up doing.
