It's an incredible feeling, that AH-HA moment, when the approach I've been using was eerily similar to what this approach was. There were some key components missing and I didn't fully understand why sometimes my damage was INCREDIBLE and others it's meh at best. I DO GET IT NOW. Even better yet, I have both the aspects and the resources to remedy it QUICKLY. This video is the single greatest level up that I've discovered so far in my D4 experience. This build is probably the most hilariously effective build I've played on necro so far. Works pretty damn well even at level 46 without all the aspects! I've got most of them. But even so, it's AMAZING! So good!

You still need most of them, but it works with just the one that explodes corpses on bloodmist, and the one that turns bonestorm into shadow damage. Everything else is just more damage, so it depends on what level you're playing at of course.

Was leveling a necro with bone spear but was kind of bored then I found you using this build on stream. Switched and I’m in love. It’s chill, it’s strong and intuitive. And most importantly it’s fun
100% this works. I am level 86, just completed a tier 56 NM dungeon. Despite having negative effects such as decreased vulnerability and reduced close damage. I was able to get the clear.
Hey echo, thanks for the build. In fact, it is so absurdly broken I beat the lvl 70 capstone dungeon with it... at level 63. Took me around 15 mins (I think?) I died only once to the explody bois. Even better: my equipment isn't even min/maxed. Far from it. Missing one legendary aspect, using a mediocre roll on "blighted" and stats all over the place. I have clips and screenshots as proof, it's an extremely fun build.
Black river and bone storm aspect that increases bonestorm time takes all my corpses for the CE. I get corpse starved especially when doing single target, like bosses. Am lvl 100 and have all the uniques for necro and then some, but only use mendeln and switch around howl from below for multiple opponents, and fist of fate for single target.
thanks for the guide! gloves totally don't seem necessary - the grouping up of mobs can be easily done with blight and the pull aspect for blight (and corpse tendrils) - the gloves do make the build more comfortable, but it is really strong without gloves as well
This looks so good I will definitely have to try it at some point, but I am lvl 72 right now and am still loving bone spear! So maybe I will just continue with bone spear for now, and try this build down the rode. And may be by then they will fix the Blighted corpse visual lol…. maybe for my 2nd play through… season one! 😊 keep up all the grate work man love it all!
I am in the same boat as you. I was thinking of switching out resp for bone spear. Maybe play around with the armor. The unique helmet for bone spears, can put disobedience aspect on a shield or I can do a focus for either the bone spear aspect or a shadowblight aspect Maybe have a ring with the lucky hit on vulnerable bone skills to make sure I can spam bone spears too
Making the core skills good just takes too much point and legendary affix investment, better spent elsewhere. And I'm pretty sure yes - which is also why Black River unfortunately seems pretty bad for the build.
Unfortunately Shadow mages dont proc shadow blight. They proc the visual effect, but not the actual debuff. Known bug, half the Necromancer anything dont work like they should.
Echo is from Maxroll. Says this is possibly the first S tier Necro build. Yet two Necro builds have been in S Rank endgame tier list for weeks now on Maxroll? I'm confused.
Right now the meta is a day-to-day evaluation. There are new discoveries (and understanding of those discoveries, and spreading of that information) on a near daily basis. It's wild watching as EU wakes up, plays, learns something, then NA wakes up and discovers something else. There's hyper-movement happening within my own personal tier list because of this crazy meta. Our Maxroll tier list gets updated less frequently than daily -- it's also not useful for us to update these tier lists every-single-day. That's the disparity here! Sorry for not explaining that in the video.
@@MrBalrogos not every player has the same goal. not every build can be used to the same dmg profile. and i didn't say "good", i said "viable". and i'm not a diablo build sommelier. for me, it is a good state for the class. usually the meta isn't that flexible on games in general.

Having played this build since early access and having a good Black River, I honestly think it's a trap pick. The build decimates big hordes anyway, and the only place it can struggle is single target - especially if you get unlucky with corpse generation. Black River essentially multiplies the build's weakpoint by cutting your corpse generation, decrepify cdr procs and shadowblight stack ramping from corpse explosion down to a 4th in those struggle scenarios, while also not having particularly good stats on it's own. That's a massive hit to damage, survivability and gameplay flow. Maybe Black River works with obscene +Lucky Hit Chance on Rings, CDR, etc. if that allows for essentially perma Blood Mist, but outside of that I much prefer just running Wand tbh. Real shame Doombringer is that damn rare though.
He does say to pack an alt weapon (e.g., wand) for more lucky hit vs. single target. So I think that's covered off. Running an alt weapon is a bit kludgy, but then again it's not like bosses jump at you out of nowhere. For now.
You know, after playing it a little more, it's really very good. But I'm finding that single target damage isn't really there without all the correct gear pieces. I've swapped out the corpse grasp for the iron golem to create vulnerable. And that helps quite a bit, especially with bonestorm coming from both you and the golem. I'm thinking it really does come down to needing all the gear and stats that you suggest in the vid, at least for single target bosses. It even works ok against them, but takes a bit longer. Everything else is smooth sailing.

what is the mist effect around enemy mobs? I got a weapon with Your darkness skills Chill enemies for up to 40% that does nothing as far as I can tell. This is the effect I thought it should have.
I've been farming the penitent greaves for around 25 levels now with no luck. Started at 50 and am now 75 and still no drop for me. I have gotten the greaves of the empty tomb twice, though, and was wondering if you had any thoughts on implementing sever with the greaves as another shadow proc?
I actually do this. Even if not using Sever the lucky hit in shadow skills help. You won't be going as fast as Penitent or the ghost walker aspect but comes in handy against bosses
i also playing with this build, if you have ancestral unique razor plate armor playing torn with this build is so freaking crazy, lv 74 can clear tier 41
I am trying this build out and i have a 10k plus thorns chest piece in my box. So you recommend using it. I only removed it as a friend suggested it would be better on another char but i liked it. Level 68 currently.
Something you overlooked, if you use blood orbs...you need to have a stat somewhere otherwise you lose an entire bucket...necromancer has more buckets than any other class...other than that..almost perfect
I use blight in my build and double curse with the 40% shadow damage amp. No basic attack, corpse generation from bloodmist / dealing damage with blight and eventually corpse explosion generates them by dealing damage. Single target is still rough if your corpse generation is unlucky or they are highly mobile.
The Maxroll link does not match the video as far as legendary affix's which is optimal the video or the maxroll link? I am already running a shadowblight build so I would like to try this one next
Ive been using similar build since week 1. It is not that gear dependant that people say... I am using different skill set but tier 50 is a joke for me right now. Also not using Bone Storm and Black River will give you much much higher damage, and on higher tiers its a must.

What do you think of the Osseous aspect that increases Bone Storm duration by 8 seconds? though you wouldn't be able to go infinite it'd be up most of the time.
I’m also using necromancer in running a shadow damage Bill but I can’t find any aspects that helps with shadow damage or would even seem to be useful for my bill I got a bunch of aspects that are no good for my Bill I would love to know what aspect would be good with that type of build and where to find them
I kinda wish people just pretended the uber uniques didnt exist. Wasting time on them is like waiting at your door for a supermodel to stop by randomly
honestly level as something different is my opinion. Until you find the key parts of the build which are blood mist, and all the aspects buffing shadowblight. :) I think there are 3 legendary aspects that buff shadowblight so havint at least 1 or 2 is crucial to making THIS build effective.
My necro build comprises of a focus on procs for Overpower from Blood Lance[Supernatural], Blood surge[Paranormal] and Rathmas Vigor[overpower every 15 secs]. I have Hemorrphage[Acolyte] and Reap[Initiates] as the basic skills to always have a long amd close range option for essence building and guaranteed overpower almost every 10 seconds. My current overpower dmg is at 1379% with 201% Crit dmg and 100% bonus dmg. Every new mod group you encounter will essentially disappear on screen in blue or orange numbers lol from just 1 click of blood surge. I'm trying to see if I can get it over 2000% 🤣 I'm also using blood surge echo, blood wave echo and basic skill attack speed matched with blood skill overpower attach speed increase to always pop more overpower and essence faster lol.

Crit has to be a secondary stat here, definitely not to stack it, you want dmg over time, lucky hit, and cooldown reduction.. also, are you saying that with blackriver all the corpses consumed count as multiple ones for shadowblight?????

most of your damage comes from shadowblight, which can crit, so I think crit is actually better than dmage over time
If you only knew what Shadow Necro looks like... My Bone Spirits crit for 1,000,000 damage AND I run full Shadow build with both aspects on correct slots. 200% 10 stack bonus on Weapon, and the 80% stacked 5 times on Ring. The stacking shadow damage erases world bosses. The other ring you need to run Essence on CC. And your Core skill is Blight, with Blight Pulls in aspect on Amulet. This way you can run Blood Mist, Corpse Explode, Bone Spirit, Bone Prison, Bone Storm, and Blight. It's called the 'Big Dark Bone'. Essence on CC makes Blight a free cast on any 3+ targets. It pulls everything into a pile for you and is spam'able, and ranged. With it I run 3 Barrier Aspects, and 5 second bubble. Nothing lives past those 5 seconds. There is no need to pull mobs into chokes. Blight sucks everything into a nice clean pile and does, you guessed it, shadow damage, and once all the passives get rolling to max, each Blight does 40k. And this isn't even the best build... this is just what I forced together because my aspect rolls are horrifying. People have got to take it easy with the S tier stuff for a couple months. Every class has builds nobody in the "community" can hold a candle to. Most of you are forming your builds using the same exact template as Maxroll. It's not doing you, or anyone else, any favors. What you have here is a 'Fine' build. It's not great, it's not fabulous, and it's certainly not S class. It's fine. You've really got to get out of your own way though if you wanna get to the good cheese. Necro in full Shadow can clear Nightmare 90's with an Atari controller and nothing but Blight slotted. Not to be a diK, just trying to help you out of that box your damage is stuck in. At your level my Golem AoE tap was doing 20k with a blood build I could Surge for 50k on and never loose max essence until I wanted to Bone Spirit a vulnerable Elite that needed deleting. You could be seeing 80k Bone Spirits at 55... I gotta stop myself.
ok sooooo this necro is 55 ... heck my blood build was good then ... but yea he gives him self an out saying that if you dont get the gear / stats just right it wont work .... show me this again at nightmare 50+
This build is ok but you should check out a youtuber named (Last Rights) he's made an incredible blood surge summoner. I've been running it. I beat the WT4 capstone dungeon at level 59 it just destroys an you get all your minions. Like you said the last blood point is bad an I'm sorry but you're just really wrong lol a guaranteed overpowered from that an blood surge I hit 30k to 40k at lol 65. Plus Crits an you hit every enemy an heal plus fortified you're invincible killing machine
I will never understand the point of playing necro without their pets. I hope blizzard rebalances something to put summoner builds on par with bone spear or even this.
Terrible, your missing out on so many things. The gloves aren't necessary at all. 1st thing 😂 the most necessary item for the build cannot even drop apparently, along with a few others. 😮 something streamer didn't know. 🤣 shadow necros utility is amazing you can make this variation of the build work so many different ways.
Only problem with this build is that you can't see anything from the blight VFX. Hopefully they address it soon

This build is great I made a variant I use almost the same skills but you give some good options to use
If we're trying to stack shadow dmg sources, why no shadow core skills ?
Also, do each corpse explosion count as a separate source ?

You don't have time to cast core skills. Reap is better for initial bootstrap of the pulls

if u use decre curse, u can use bloodmist like every 2s X.x with some combo aspect

Takes some getting used to, i recommend edgemaster aspect before getting howling even 10% more damage from all skills is worth having on gloves

Blind your allies while in Blood mist. You can't die but they can. Necros are truly the bestest of friends

I’m also using necromancer in running a shadow damage Bill but I can’t find any aspects that helps with shadow damage or would even seem to be useful for my bill I got a bunch of aspects that are no good for my Bill I would love to know what aspect would be good with that type of build and where to find them
After i got my first gloves and weapon, i kept getting them over and over lol, weapon had max rolls on everything but 1 thing aswell

When finding items unique or legendary is it all RNG? Or are there specific areas to find specific weapons?
I kinda wish people just pretended the uber uniques didnt exist. Wasting time on them is like waiting at your door for a supermodel to stop by randomly
What about leveling your necro? Would this be good to use or something different and then switch to this when you have the pieces
honestly level as something different is my opinion. Until you find the key parts of the build which are blood mist, and all the aspects buffing shadowblight. :) I think there are 3 legendary aspects that buff shadowblight so havint at least 1 or 2 is crucial to making THIS build effective.
My necro build comprises of a focus on procs for Overpower from Blood Lance[Supernatural], Blood surge[Paranormal] and Rathmas Vigor[overpower every 15 secs]. I have Hemorrphage[Acolyte] and Reap[Initiates] as the basic skills to always have a long amd close range option for essence building and guaranteed overpower almost every 10 seconds. My current overpower dmg is at 1379% with 201% Crit dmg and 100% bonus dmg. Every new mod group you encounter will essentially disappear on screen in blue or orange numbers lol from just 1 click of blood surge. I'm trying to see if I can get it over 2000% 🤣
I'm also using blood surge echo, blood wave echo and basic skill attack speed matched with blood skill overpower attach speed increase to always pop more overpower and essence faster lol.

Hello. I spend the day looking at your guides in Maxroll and I have a question with the bone spear guide. Do you recommend basic skill damage stats on the weapon, is it a bug or is it? Isn't it supposed to be looking for main ability damage? or am I missing something? Thank you so much.
Crit has to be a secondary stat here, definitely not to stack it, you want dmg over time, lucky hit, and cooldown reduction.. also, are you saying that with blackriver all the corpses consumed count as multiple ones for shadowblight?????
most of your damage comes from shadowblight, which can crit, so I think crit is actually better than dmage over time
Will try this when blight vfx gets fixed. Kills my teammates in multiplayer as they cant see enemy spells and skills.

If you only knew what Shadow Necro looks like... My Bone Spirits crit for 1,000,000 damage AND I run full Shadow build with both aspects on correct slots. 200% 10 stack bonus on Weapon, and the 80% stacked 5 times on Ring. The stacking shadow damage erases world bosses. The other ring you need to run Essence on CC. And your Core skill is Blight, with Blight Pulls in aspect on Amulet.
This way you can run Blood Mist, Corpse Explode, Bone Spirit, Bone Prison, Bone Storm, and Blight. It's called the 'Big Dark Bone'. Essence on CC makes Blight a free cast on any 3+ targets. It pulls everything into a pile for you and is spam'able, and ranged. With it I run 3 Barrier Aspects, and 5 second bubble. Nothing lives past those 5 seconds. There is no need to pull mobs into chokes. Blight sucks everything into a nice clean pile and does, you guessed it, shadow damage, and once all the passives get rolling to max, each Blight does 40k.
And this isn't even the best build... this is just what I forced together because my aspect rolls are horrifying. People have got to take it easy with the S tier stuff for a couple months. Every class has builds nobody in the "community" can hold a candle to. Most of you are forming your builds using the same exact template as Maxroll. It's not doing you, or anyone else, any favors.
What you have here is a 'Fine' build. It's not great, it's not fabulous, and it's certainly not S class. It's fine. You've really got to get out of your own way though if you wanna get to the good cheese. Necro in full Shadow can clear Nightmare 90's with an Atari controller and nothing but Blight slotted.
Not to be a diK, just trying to help you out of that box your damage is stuck in. At your level my Golem AoE tap was doing 20k with a blood build I could Surge for 50k on and never loose max essence until I wanted to Bone Spirit a vulnerable Elite that needed deleting. You could be seeing 80k Bone Spirits at 55...
I gotta stop myself.

In the maxroll d4 planner, 3 uniques are equipped.
I though the player could only equip 1 unique at a time ?
I believe you can equip as many uniques as you want. I've definitely had 2 equipped at least.
This is strong af. I changed some stuff to use a Bone Golem but the core of the build is the same. Bone taunt pulls them in and he is tanky.
Ive been running shadowblight with the blighted aspect. My numbers look higher.

ok sooooo this necro is 55 ... heck my blood build was good then ... but yea he gives him self an out saying that if you dont get the gear / stats just right it wont work .... show me this again at nightmare 50+

This build is ok but you should check out a youtuber named (Last Rights) he's made an incredible blood surge summoner. I've been running it. I beat the WT4 capstone dungeon at level 59 it just destroys an you get all your minions. Like you said the last blood point is bad an I'm sorry but you're just really wrong lol a guaranteed overpowered from that an blood surge I hit 30k to 40k at lol 65. Plus Crits an you hit every enemy an heal plus fortified you're invincible killing machine
this looks so bad damn, idk why some ppl make builds when they are not even lvl 85+
I will never understand the point of playing necro without their pets. I hope blizzard rebalances something to put summoner builds on par with bone spear or even this.

Terrible, your missing out on so many things. The gloves aren't necessary at all. 1st thing 😂 the most necessary item for the build cannot even drop apparently, along with a few others. 😮 something streamer didn't know. 🤣 shadow necros utility is amazing you can make this variation of the build work so many different ways.
