I love historical romance, the bringing down the duke series is one of my favorites because the plot is about the women suffrage movement! it has like emily henry levels of spice so it’s not too extensive! warning though I haven’t been able to find any historical romances without spice
If you want to read clean historical romance books I recommend you read Edenbrooke and Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson.
If you want clean historical romance then I recommend reading Georgette Heyer and Anna Jacob's books

@@hannahe284 this is so true! i usually do this when i don’t know if i’ll like a first book in a series. def love and appreciate libraries but i love book shopping and owning physical copies. plus im a germaphobe lol
the flatshare by Beth O’Leary is sooo good!!! i’m pretty sure there’s a couple spice scenes but the whole premise of the book is that they share the flat but haven’t met each other so the spice is pretty minimal.
“These Shallow Graves” is a great historical fiction thriller with a compelling love story, I highly recommend for you! It’s about an uptown girl trying to solve her father’s mysterious death in 1890, while learning so much more about poverty, sexism and herself.
Hey Haley! If you want any historical+fantasy+romance book recommendations, I highly, highly recommend the infernal devices series, because it is just SO GOOD and has the only love triangle that I actually love. It’s so so immersing and twisty and so heartbreaking and you have to read the entire series to properly experience the heartbreak!!!! It’s my favorite series of all time ever, please consider reading the series! Love your videos btw, it’s not hard to see that you’re having fun filming and editing them! They’re awesome. Keep up the amazing work!

I really enjoy that you do make clear when it’s clean or not. I’m a christian and almost 17 but when I want a book my mom wants to know what it’s about and if it’s appropriate and it helps that she doesn’t have to assume it has it when it doesn’t so thank you.

ah I get so excited every time I see one of your videos! it's not really historical romance but Circe is historical fiction with some romantic elements but also some adventure and angst if you want to try something new. I vaguely remember you saying you weren't super into mythology but I don't think it was super difficult to get into past the first like 50 pages :)

Haley, I am a teen, so I don’t know if you will be interested in this book suggestion, but I thought I would put it out there anyway! I love the Hagenheim series by Melanie Dickerson! They are clean, YA historical romances with no spice at all and happen to be Christian! I literally love them! They are all set in medieval times and are stories roughly based off of different princesses! I just like them a lot and they always give me butterflies and make me so happy I finish them super quick. Anyway, if you are interested, the first book is the Healers Apprentice which is kind of based off Sleeping Beauty! 💕love your book vids Haley!

haley!! while you’re in your fantasy era, i highly recommend the mara dyer series by michelle hodkin. very similar vibes to shatter me with the romance and powers but without the dystopia. just finished the first book and instant 5 stars i adored it!! online it says it’s a paranormal romance but it’s not even rlly like that, not scary at all and i get scared by coraline LMAO so don’t let it stop you xx

For a fantasy book with an adorable subplot romance I would recommend the Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy!! The first book wasn’t my favorite but I am OBSESSED with the other two. It’s a pretty underrated trilogy but really easy to read and well written if anyone is interested!

For a historical romance recommendation, if you’re ready to take on a huge book - Outlander! It is amazing!
For historical romance I would definitely recommend Alex and eliza, especially if you like Hamilton. Its the story of Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler, its a trilogy and the first book at least has no spice

I for one really appreciate that you tend to avoid spicy books, cuz I’m the exact same way. I’ve found that the book community like, really really likes it and I’ve never really been that way. It’s hard to find recommendations for cutesy romances without that so just to encourage you a little, I super appreciate it!!
A clean historical romance that I think you would really enjoy is Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson ,its written in first person pov which is rare for historicals and the romance it's to die for

You should definitely read Six Crimsons Cranes. It’s a closed door fantasy romance heavily inspired by East Asian culture. It talks about Princess Shiori, who gets cursed by her stepmother and cannot say a word, or else, her turned-cranes brothers will die. The second book is coming out at the end of the month so pick it up soon!
my favorite historical romance series is by Evie dunmore! it's bringing down the duke, a rogue of one's own, and the portrait of a scotsman. They're stand alone but the leading ladies are all friends and suffragists :)

some of the best starter books for historical romance are by jane austen! "pride and prejudice" is the first historical romance book i read and it definitely gave me a lot of love for the genre, "emma" is a great option as well. there are so many historical romance authors but jane austen is one of the best ones you can start with!

I loved The Bodyguard, such a cute fun read.
I love dance of thieves BUT it’s a spin-off of a trilogy called the remnant chronicles. The first book in that is called the kiss of deception and the trilogy is EPIC. I found that reading the trilogy first made the duology so much more enjoyable because you don’t have to deal with so much world building, plus you’re like AH HA I KNOW THAT CHARACTER. So I’d def recommend reading those first! :))
the bodyguard reminds me of the k-drama strong girl bong soon (which i highly reccomend!!)
Haley you should try out Stalking Jack the ripper series. It's historical and the romance is great, so cute (and there is no spice, only one scene in book 4). Also there is a mystery in each book! I really think you would love this series!

if you want a good historical romance book, id recommend pride and premeditation! it’s a murder mystery rewrite of pride and prejudice with some romance and it’s super fun i loved it :)

Love this video so, so much! I read Last Time We Met by Emily Houghton last week, it was an okay read for me. I enjoyed the author’s first book more. I am a new historical romance reader as well. I have read Always Be My Duchess ~ the one you showed in the video I mean, and it was sooo adorable. The book is inspired by the Pretty Woman movie btw!!
you NEED to read all of beth o leary’s books. there are some serious topics but not a lot of explicit scenes and her writing style is just beautiful
