I lived in SF in 1980. I worked at the Hyatt on Union Square on the 36th floor restaurant with a 360o view of SF. Later I worked in the Financial District near the Embarcadero and attended Golden Gate University. I walked all over that City….you couldn’t have a car because parking was impossible downtown.and while there was some homeless (mostly from alcoholism not drugs) and some street crime, SF was a great City to live in and be proud of…not anymore.

GREAT period feel from the era when a certain Dirty H had just swept the streets 4 the 3rd x thru THE ENFORCER (1977) .. The cleanliness is most evident ! No sirloins or other beefs ANYPLACE. It was a glorious city, despite the Bway sleaze ...The jazz as can be heard over here, was a mainstay @ the Keystone Korner, 750 Vallejo, NB next to the cop station at which the K word parodied. Todd Barkan has a new eponymous jazz joint in downtown Baltimore (which has a serious crime prob in the neighborhood as well in the meantime). Maybe he ll return it to the city although the legends are in graves.
