Haven't played in 20 years but pulled my BC Rich's out recently and this looks like the best way to get back into it and get my confidence/chops back. This rocks! \m/ Great job dude
Right on Coasterdude, glad to hear it man! The game did the exact same thing for me so I am glad to hear that other players are experiencing the same thing. I hope you enjoy the game as much as I have!
I'm sure I will, should have it tomorrow or or Thursday. Can't wait. No doubt Im gonna be up until daybreak playing, it looks like an awesome 'game' as well as a learning tool.
Thanks Moggaftw11! I'm in my mid 30s with a family so playing in a band is out of the cards for me. Hopefully my son will take interest in music when he is older and I'll be there to support him the whole way!
In those solos when you're playing the same fret but on a different string (20th fret on e and B strings for example), are you really supposed to attack each note without barring? At these speeds it seems impossible. But also barring them feels impractical and doesn't sound right. At around 2:35, I see that you barred the e and B strings on the 17th fret which makes sense, but in the same phrase there's 20B, 20e, 20B, 17e. Do you barr your ring finger across e and B strings or do you simply attack each note by lifting your finger and fretting accordingly? I just don't want to practice these things incorrectly haha Absolutely terrific performance by the way.
Thanks PAPAxPALPATINE! And also thanks for helping out with the Q&A on the comments. I've been a bit of a social media slacker lately so it's always cool when other rockers put in their .02. Take care man and thanks for watching!
Thanks everyone for the kind words! Mobile users, the silly copyrights blocked mobile viewing of this video so I apologize for that. I embedded a link in the main description if you wish to still watch it from you phone.
Thanks Charles! And you WILL be able to play like this (or better) with enough practice man. Stick with it and you'll be shredding before you know it... Just give it time :)
Thanks for the heads up The2009EDDY. I learned it originally from Hal Leonard tab so it will be interesting see the differences. I'm sure I steal some finger positions from all three versions of the tab :).
Fair question... I would say between the new tuning support, Session Mode, a much improved Riff Repeater, better song list, and support for new techniques, moving to Rocksmith 2014 is a no brainer :D!
Thanks bro! To be honest, my improv shredding needs some serious work so you probably won't see me making Session Mode videos any time soon. It is an awesome tool though and I try to spend at least 10 minutes a day jamming with it. Maybe someday I'll feel comfortable making a vid, just not right now...
I have a music degree, play sax and drums well and can play most other common wind instruments ok (trumpet, bone, licorice stick, etc...) but this makes me want to buy a guitar today and RS 2014. It just moved onto my xmas list now I need to pick a guitar :) Great job.
Go for it. I've been playing Rocksmith 2014 since it came out and notice a big difference already. I've added more chords, scales, and songs to my playing and my hands have gotten quicker and stronger. This game is a good tool to use along side other materials or a teacher though. I started the game with some experience and knowledge of the guitar. Though, I considered myself in between a beginner and intermediate player. I guess you can say an advanced beginner. There are a lot of good guitars; Ibanez, Gibson, ESP, Epiphone, Jackson, Fender etc.
Wow, that's awesome to hear egrylls and thanks for watching! The game is a blast if you enjoy playing cover tunes. It also provides a few ways to introduce new guitarist to the game by providing lessons for each of the techniques used in a song. Plus you learn a song with a subset of the notes to start with or all of the notes, which you can slow down as much as needed in Riff Repeater.
Sick job man! You're insanely good, as you already know. I've been playing on and off for about 10 years now. I'm pretty good but I haven't broken through into that uber high speed level you're at. I really want to. I actually have the 4th best score on The Trooper on Ps3 at the moment, 1.95 million, my guess is you can get 2.5+ on it?
Not so different when playing, but much better organized and with the importer you can get the songs from the previous one... Imo, it's not worth the price if you have the one before but if you really like Rocksmith, go for it!
nice work, I just started attempting this song yesterday. What is that picking pattern you are using between 1:05 - 1:10? Are you just playing the notes of that B sus 4 chord one at a time? I always choke at that section. Is there a place in Rocksmith where they explain that? (if there is, I missed it...) thanks
Round and round is my favorite song from the rocksmith 2014! I can play it around 95% mastery, but I can't play the freaking solos because too many notes from multiple strings in a quick phase (same problem with the majority of all solos ;() I guess I need to grind only solos all day long?
If you are used to tab layout I suggest using the "inverted fretboard" option in both RS1 and RS2014. This puts the low E (red) at the bottom where it should be so you can read bottom to top (low to high). Your brain will actually register chords properly when having to learn them on the fly unless your a lefty or something. Its a good game, but once I got all the acheivments it got boring very quickly theres no incentive aside from buying all the DLC (or heading over to UG and learning it all for free and grabbing a backing track to go with it...), as for score attack, theres no competition, I would have thought more experienced guitarists added this to their collection because it has to be said is an awesome innovation, the hit detection can really suck though even with hot pickups (tried both passive and actives), fresh strings, fingertip accuracy and quality guitars. My list is full of easy songs with 99% and the only reason I cant perfect my song list is because (particularly in drop D) some notes get dropped no matter how much dynamics or attack you add to it. I hope they improve this in a later installment or update.
Is that the Gibson Zakk Wylde or the Epiphone version?, im asking because the gibson is like 5k and its a ridiculous price Edit: I think its the Epiphone because of the truss rod cover, its badass anyway, it doesnt matter
I use guitarpro that plays along with tabs...I can't follow this at all, I find tabs much easier to interpret and play to, but to each their own. I used to own at Guiter Hero but this is too busy for me
What you are seeing is tabs... just that they are coming at you. I come from reading tabs too and it took me a little while to get use to the strings being laid out horizontally and then the tabs coming at me. I would like it if you could just pause it or something and see the tab. Then you could see the whole riff or riffs like a lot of us are accustomed to. By the way love the guitar Nick! Been wanting one of those bad boys for quite the while! Long live Zakk :)
sharpblades75 You can pause the game at any point during Riff Repeater. You can also break any portion of the song down to a slower tempo to practice any portion you're having trouble with.
Yes, 8 or so years of practice over a twenty year period, as I like to call it :) I pretty much quit paying in my 20s but start playing again over the last two years after Rocksmith came out.
Wow I thought my 28% on this song was good. LOL. Great job.

I love my warlock its heavy though but they don't call it heavy metal for nothing haha
Thanks redhed002, I have always loved this song too. Hope to see some more 80s hits in the future!
Another pretty much flawless performance. It's amazing how much better the interface is for RS 2014 too. Keep on rocking man!
Thanks shik, I appreciated feedback. The solos are still a bit sloppy in parts but I'll keep working on it. Practice, practice, practice!
Thanks Nyarlah, I'm looking forward to some of your videos soon. Your playing is spot on and easy to listen to!
Thanks Moggaftw11! I'm in my mid 30s with a family so playing in a band is out of the cards for me. Hopefully my son will take interest in music when he is older and I'll be there to support him the whole way!
Thanks Andrew! Yes, it is on tap in the next few songs. Just gotta learn to play it with Rocksmith tab first :D.
wow your level of mastery on this song after such a short time is astonishing, gerat job with the solos !
Great! Looking forward seeing you nail those solo like always. :)
Awesome playing as always! You've really got the solos down. I'm going to have to try that song later. Seems like a fun one to learn.
Glad you liked it Fabian and thanks for watching!
Awesome! Songs like this are exactly what first Rocksmith needed. Can't wait to get my hands on Rocksmith 2014!
Awesome rocknrolldejw! The game has a great setlist, plenty of old DLC to import, and weekly DLC to boot!
Amazing, dude! When I grow up, I want to play guitar like you...
Thanks Undead! The song is a blast to play and has some good techniques inside and outside of the solo. Go for it man!
That bat country solo is much different than the Chris Zoupa version took me forever to get use to it anyway great video Nick keep up the good work
Sweet playing man. Nice that they extended that last solo. Have always loved this song.

He moves the strings up for a higher pitch
Sorry it's hard for me to reply on the iPad cause I can't see what I'm writing
if i have to fret the e and b strings like that, use both the ring and pinky fingers
Thanks PAPAxPALPATINE! And also thanks for helping out with the Q&A on the comments. I've been a bit of a social media slacker lately so it's always cool when other rockers put in their .02. Take care man and thanks for watching!

Wow, man. This is the real deal. I hope I can play this this well one day.
Man can't wait till I'm this good.
That last part was sick!
Great job, this sounded way better than when I tried to play it. That's for sure! :P
Fair question... I would say between the new tuning support, Session Mode, a much improved Riff Repeater, better song list, and support for new techniques, moving to Rocksmith 2014 is a no brainer :D!
Thanks! I have not yet though I plan to some time soon. Looks like a fun song to play with some cool runs in it.
You didn't waste time with game Nick ! Awesome run as always !
Wow! Awesome playing of one of my favorite songs!
Awesome Nick!!! What a great song and you nailed it!!
Wow, great playing Nick. Let's see some Session mode shredding!
Amazing performance indeed!
Thanks bro!
To be honest, my improv shredding needs some serious work so you probably won't see me making Session Mode videos any time soon. It is an awesome tool though and I try to spend at least 10 minutes a day jamming with it. Maybe someday I'll feel comfortable making a vid, just not right now...
amazing job Nick can't wait for your next video XD
really awesome run/song
Really great stuff dude. Well done!
So good- thanks for posting this!

Wow, RS 2014 really does look different to the previous game! :O
God you make "perfect". Gratz
That solo is so fucking good 😌
How long did it take you to learn this fully? Start to finish? And have you ever played guitar before?
Awesome nick!! u pick a great song :D
so relaxed! killer
Sick job man! You're insanely good, as you already know. I've been playing on and off for about 10 years now. I'm pretty good but I haven't broken through into that uber high speed level you're at. Lol he might
With Rocksmith on bass it took me six month and I'm 11 and my fingers are starting to fly
Try getting 2.5 million k?
But good job on the trooper
Getting closer... Up to 96% accuracy but it sounds more like 90%. I would like to get something out there by this weekend though.
Nice playing!
Too bad they cut the outro out
Man you rock!
in the song section its called score attack
Nice vid quality and gameplay!
Wow very nice dude
Not so different when playing, but much better organized and with the importer you can get the songs from the previous one... Imo, it's not worth the price if you have the one before but if you really like Rocksmith, go for it!

damn, just watched the rest...you crushed that solo at the end.
Very Good! I have a real problem with RATT! Tuff chords they used...
amazing
Awesome man, was hoping you'll upload some!! :D btw are you going to do Bat Country?
awesome
Damn! Nice job!
dude..awesome.

I bet you dominate all the leader boards xD
Could you please tell me what are those symbols on the fretboard at 1:00, like arrows on the bottom 2 strings?
They're open strings on an upcoming arpeggio.
Bravo!!!!
So far the statement is no. Unsure if they;ll release it later, but no for now
Awesome job Nick! Have you had a chance to check out Desolate Motion by Karawan yet?
You can round this up to 99%

There's also a lefty mode, if I remember correctly.
Yep theres a lefty mode, and colourblind options too
thank god they let you switch it, because im used to tab and was like "IS LIKE OPPOSITE OMG"
That's just the "Score Attack mode"
The "Learn a Song mode" is more similar to the first one
Guitarcade -> Score Attack
Very nice display man =]! On a side note, does anyone elses Xbox freeze like 20 minutes into the game? I can hardly play it =(
Nice
2 pro 4 me
God Keep trying God, you'll get it someday, you created the world in a week im sure ull do fine :d
Is that the Gibson Zakk Wylde or the Epiphone version?, im asking because the gibson is like 5k and its a ridiculous price
Edit: I think its the Epiphone because of the truss rod cover, its badass anyway, it doesnt matter
how to record sound and video??? my RS2014 not recorded sound only video
fucking nice played :D
Hello, Nick!
Can you please upload for me this song?
I'll be happy for a link)
I use guitarpro that plays along with tabs...I can't follow this at all, I find tabs much easier to interpret and play to, but to each their own. I used to own at Guiter Hero but this is too busy for me

Fucking cool
You don't use Bandicam to record audio right? cos it sounds like shit when i record sound through bandicam, tried all sorts of options
PsychoTone record the guitar with audacity and record the in game with Fraps
Id be glad to add 1% of your talent.
guitar hero 80s
Could someone who knows a little guitar learn to play this song like that with just Rocksmith?
Yup
Dat solo...
Nick how long did it take you to reach this level of play. I've been playing a week. I have two foo fighters at 53.2% .
Is this game really that different or should I just stay with the last rocksmith
