I played the first Rocksmith when I started to pick up and learn the guitar again. This was amazing. I really enjoyed watching it so I know exactly how much frustrating fun is awaiting me. For those curious as to whether this game is worth it, it is. You'll learn songs you like, and have many different minigames to practice skills and have a 'session mode' that mimics jam sessions very well. That said, if you want to know music and music theory, it is no substitute for classes with a human instructor. But it is a damn fine supplement to learning and practicing.
Thanks Wodism and I am glad to hear that I am not the only one to struggle in these sections. I think each section has a required number of notes to hit to get a green or yellow bar. It could also be percent based but I am not exactly sure. As for the chromatic run fail, I think I passed that section with yellow but it is hard to say. It feels like there is a hidden section as soon as the harmonized arpeggios start that I fail occasionally. It will be good to see some other videos to better
You might be right. The sectioning of this song seems off. SA can be pretty frustrating. You might make it through some tough solos, but then flub a single chord in a tiny section and get an X. I have a silver ranking in Afterlife now, but first run through it on hard had me choke after the solo and fail. Still, keep up the good work. Your videos, and presence in the forums, pushed me. It's only been a year since I've been playing, and you definitely had an impact on the speed of my progress.
Thanks Headzup! All four versions of the clean sections are a bit different but they use the same chord structures. Once you get the chords down, it's just a matter of picking the correct string. I too should practice this section more :D.
I bought this when I got my 8 string guitar because i use it to just re learn the fret board all over again. You'd be amazed how much those 2 extra strings throw you off. I've been playing for awhile, but Rocksmith is not just for beginners. It has many uses
the missed notes and fails in this section. Finally, the 4 notes at 3m13s are the devil. I pass this section without failing about 1 out of 5 tries or so. I've practiced it a million times in RR and just can't seem to nail it the way the game wants me to. I'm sure it has to do with my sliding... Sorry for the novel. Take care Wodism and looking forward to some videos from you soon!
That is exactly what I do with RR. I always work each section with all of the notes available. This is important for developing the muscle memory correctly. The new RR is MUCH better than the previous one. There are a couple things I wish they would add to it but overall a very helpful tool!
I've been playing for what I like to call 8 years of practice over a twenty year period. I started at 13 and played a lot in my teens. I pretty much didn't play in my 20s (face palm) and started to pick it up again when Rocksmith came out. I don't plan on stopping again though... I wish I would have stuck with it!
it also seems some notes are somehow marked as mandatory, meaning if you miss that one you would have a strike even if you get all the others. Great job man
I'm in sort of the same boat. picked up guitar from my dad when i was younger like 5-6 played it for fun mostly untill my teens and stopped. Picking it up again when i go to buy Rocksmith soon lol.
I just wanted to note up here at the top, if you are considering buying rocksmith, make sure you understand how to plug it in/set you tv/sound system right. The audio delay i always here people moaning about SHOULD NOT BE THERE, if you have that problem you are not set up properly. Wire from XBOX to sound system. If unavailable, then make sure you set your TVs audio setting to "Game", its the quickest refresh, you can do this with your picture settings too so that you dont have to mess with the VISUAL lag thing either, although that isnt an issue when youve been playing a while... phew, that was more than i originally wanted to say
Thanks ODST984, I struggle with this big stretch as well since my hands just aren't big enough to fret it as a chord. What I do is fret the 5d and 2g as a chord and let it ring out as much as possible. Then I quickly drop the 5d as soon I pick the 3e. This technique sounds ok but not as well as if you could actually play it as a chord. Hopefully that helps... Maybe others can chime in on this as well?
Bro, I assure you that EVERYONE that watches my videos can get to my (intermediate, still have a long way to go) level of soloing if they work hard enough at it. When I started my channel, I couldn't even play the Symphony of Destruction solo! ... And now I am attempting to play the Winter Madness solo, which is WAY over my head to play it cleanly. Just keep pushing yourself and don't take no for an answer. It will come in time man, just keep believing in yourself and practicing!
Just wanted to say, im really good at guitar hero, rockband and games alike and decided to Learn to play real guitar. I've been.playing rocksmith for 3 days so far and i already.can play 3 easy songs at a 85% of accuracy so i must tell, THIS THING REALLY TEACH HOW TO PLAY (and have fun). Good job on this song, keep it up
+IncinerateDK well it pave the way for this game to come along, increased interest for rock at a time when rap dominated everything and metal and rock was (and still is), mostly shit, so, even though I don't play those games, respect where its due.
The A7X are very challenging and take a lot of time to learn but don't be scared to try! If you really want to learn a song, just take it a section at a time with Riff Repeater at 100% mastery and as slow as you need to learn a section cleanly, even if it is 10% of the tempo. With enough practice, you will find yourself getting better and better and be able to play the section faster and faster. Before you know it, you'll be playing the section/song a full speed. Just stick with it!
Thanks Cruncha for watching and for the great comment. I am no different than anybody who is learning the guitar and make more than my fair share of mistakes. Guitar takes a lot of time and practice to get good at it and I still have a very long way to go. This video reminds me of someone who has been working hard on a song for a long time and has it about 90% figured out. Hey, wait a minute... :P
This is very normal camofirefly when you first start. As you play more and more, your fingers will naturally start to stretch out and it will be easier to move over multiple frets. Just keep working on it man!
very nice job, all A7X songs are a little bit tricky to play, but you handled it very good. I like the clean part. for me is the clean part my big problem, must praxis the clean part more :D
Guitar Hero looks more simplistic but it may actually be harder because you've got to move more in such a space...with this you may have more neck to run across but it's easier to play notes
rocksmith starts off simple like guitar hero and then increases it to your skill level, after a while you'll be able to play like this guy in the video.
Are you guys all talking about Guitar Hero with the fake guitar remote and 5 plastic buttons?!?! The only similarity between Rocksmith and that Guitar Hero are the songs! Being amazing at GuitarHero doesn't mean SHIT for this game lol.
Perry Smoke That song made me cry, honestly. It was a damn good song and tribute to the best drummer(IMO), and when watching the video to it, just makes you cry.
On tap next :) Give me a couple weeks though as I need to learn it cleanly. There are a lot of "feel" notes in that one and that is something I need work on :).
I've got the Omen extreme-6 with Floyd Rose special tremolo and locking nut. However, I've been wanting the Synyster Gates Schecter for a while now. Is it worth it for the standard?
yeas becasue the invaders are great, the floyd keeps in tune, i've only played it once but for e i wish i had one because it was working amazingly its also coil tapped
maybe its on their website then, if it is, you can have them order it from their site for you and it will ship to their store, but you have to pay up front in full right when they order it
How are you not getting copyright strikes on your account? A lot of the other people I subscribe to have to strip the audio out of their videos because they have already received two strikes.
Cool, I will go that route instead of trying to level each section by doing a full play through. I agree that the new Rocksmith is better. What are the things you wish they would add?
Very nice man, as usual.. The only new Rocksmith 2014 song I've tackled is Deftones My Own Summer (Shove it). I've found that the score attack tends to be very picky. When you practice a new song using riff repeater, do you set it to 100% Mastery and slow it down as needed? I've found it's almost counter productive to learn an "easier" version because it makes it harder to learn the real version later. BTW, in my opinion the new riff repeater is superior to the old one, your thoughts?
hey ive got to say im no guitar hero, but whatching that was awsome. nick smith keep doing what your doing its really cool man. the question is could you play that without rocksmith showing you what to play though? non the less that was sweet.
Awesome video man! The exact same parts are giving me odd troubles with missed notes. Haven't been through it in score attack yet, since I haven't learned the acoustic section yet. But I went through riff repeater recently and those were the problem sections for some reason. Do you know how sections are determined as passed or not? Is it percentage based? I feel like you hit enough of that chromatic run to not fail, but it still failed you. SA definitely has its quirks.
It's pretty good for people who have some form of experience. It will work with your acoustic if it has a plugin (which would make it acoustic-electric).
As stated above, you will have to get an electric guitar to be able to use the game. I went away from Guitar Hero and Rock Band too. Was fun but really got nothing out of it that was applicable to life. I have never played any guitar in my entire life and went out and bought this game and am doing pretty well. I bought everything a little over a month ago and am not able to play every day, but when I do get to play it is for 2-4 hours at a time. I am actually doing very well. I like the way the game adjusts the difficulty to your specific level of playing so that you really never get bored because every time you play it will be a little bit different even though it is the same song, until you max it out obviously. If you are contimplating getting it, I say quit thinking about it and go get a decent guitar and this game. And don't just go into the store and buy the first guitar you see. I spent probably two weeks going to the store every day before I finally pick mine. I would definitely try to get one with 24 frets and not 20 or 22. And don't cheap out if you really like the way a guitar fits your hands. I was only expecting to spend about $200 and ended up spending $400 on an Ibanez RG321FMSP.
Not really, I sorta recognize the chord shapes... when it throws a new one at ya (If your not a proffesional) youll miss it a good few times while you sorta get your head around it. But you can start the riff repeater mid song, practice that part, then go back to it if you want. Needed for learning the solos... like really...
hey im very new to guitar and im having trouble with streching my fingers more than 1 fret apart? is this normal or am i just being weird lol. and is there a quick fix to this problem. thanks keep up the great work man.
Hey Nick! I have been watching your videos and you rock man! I have one question for you. Have you expierienced lag with Rocksmith and, if so, has Rocksmith 2014 improved lag wise?
Thanks milton! For me, the lag hasn't been too bad at all, even when I record video. Just make sure your video settings are set appropriately for performance with the video card you are using (if you are using PC of course).
now that you know how to play it, i dont think that you should play it with the rock smith any more. it sounds like your playing more for the score than quality. nothing personal, i just hope this helps.
How do you do it that you can use your 5th finger of your left hand? It's so uncomfortable for me. But without 5th finger I can't play fast! How can I learn to use it?
If you're a guitar player before being a rocksmith player you'll know that when it comes to this kind of song and "difficulty" (talking about the solo) you better learn it with a tab (from the official tab book or syn himself on youtube) than through the game, i do know how to play it but i have to admit that in game this is really confusing
Piotrek Lesiński How that's better ? You need to launch the game to "memorize" the part of the song, a tab can be open at anytime if it's just a .jpg or .txt or even a .gp file and just play the music from youtube if you need some backtrack to play along
Is Rocksmith 2014 better than Rocksmith? I mean with the learning new stuff, the song list, the whole UI? do you actually learn even more stuff in 2014? i.e Pitch Harmonics, Whammy-bar tutorials? Like to get some feedback before I buy the game. Cheers!
Hey nick smith I see that you have 2-3 guitars with Floyd rose or double locking tremolos how do you deal with the tuning? I know that rocksmith makes you tune constantly. Do you set the tremolo to dive only or leave as is?
Hi Eddy, I don't like to retune my guitars after each song so I try and keep each guitar in a specific tuning and switch out guitars as needed. Less tuning and more playing is much more enjoyable to me :)
It's funny sometimes I make mistakes and the game doesn't notice, then when I play perfectly I get a missed note.
It's so nice to see a few Rocksmith players that know how to sound good, rather than just going for a sloppy high %.
Synyster gates himself needs to play this and get highest score on his own songs lol
***** no he wouldn't he can't nail his own solo remember
@@GSTVoid lie

that guitar is gorgeous
Oh god, I'm part of the 7 people on the leaderboard who did this song :D
Congratulations for being in the top 3 haha !
Your videos are what motivate me to practice my guitar, thanks for putting them up!
Thanks Wodism and I am glad to hear that I am not the only one to struggle in these sections.

Seriously. That was awesome, legendary, insane etc.
Finally! Someone had the guts to upload the lead part of Bat Country.
Even though there were some mistakes you did awesome. this is like one of my favorite songs too
You might be right. The sectioning of this song seems off.

Finally someone who did the lead. Man this game ROCKED with getting the song SO RIGHT!
Thanks Headzup! All four versions of the clean sections are a bit different but they use the same chord structures. Once you get the chords down, it's just a matter of picking the correct string. I too should practice this section more :D.
Thanks for the kind words Fabian! Stay patient with this song man and you'll get there!

wow, i just wanted to check out a little rocksmith and that is the correct tablature surpisingly
it also seems some notes are somehow marked as mandatory, meaning if you miss that one you would have a strike even if you get all the others.

awesome job!!! Rocksmith loos so hard.. so many shapes and flashing lights coming at you so fast. loos confusing haha

Yoel V Imagine how far you would have come if you haven't wasted all those hours on guitarqueer-o and suckband.....
Imagine how muck more oxygen the world would have without huitar hero is awesome

Like Rocksmith said, "You rock!"
Also, love the guitar! I've always liked Sinister's guitar!
Hehe, but fun to play! Nice playing BTW 1983electric, love your vids!

very nice job, all A7X songs are a little bit tricky to play, but you handled it very good. I like the clean part. for me is the clean part my big problem, must praxis the clean part more :D
Im still trying this song too but is a lot of job :( u r doing amazing :D i hope someday ill learn ur skills nick :D
Awesome! I'm totally gonna get this game.
Love the guitar tone! :)
I bought all the A7X DLC when I got the game but haven't actually gotten around to trying to play them. They are so intimidating.
Your comments are what motivate me to continue to make videos. If my videos inspire folks to practice and keep playing, I'll never stop making them!
Your really great bro keep rockin. Maybe one day with enough practice I can be as good as you :D
amazing, i hope one day i can play like that
hate to say this but i like seeing you make mistakes... i reminds me that you're still human. great job.
I am beyond good on Guitar Hero, and allways wanted Rocksmith.. But i Don't know now, I think I can stick with Guitar Hero haha
no bro it helps alot like ivebeen playin for7 years bro this will walk u though everything
Guitar Hero looks more simplistic but it may actually be harder because you've got to move more in such a space...with this you may have more neck to run across but it's easier to play notes
rocksmith starts off simple like guitar hero and then increases it to your skill level, after a while you'll be able to play like this guy in the video.
if you an expert on guitar hero you are going to love drop d tunnig it plays power chords like guitar hero
Are you guys all talking about Guitar Hero with the fake guitar remote and 5 plastic buttons?!?! The only similarity between Rocksmith and that Guitar Hero are the songs! Being amazing at GuitarHero doesn't mean SHIT for this game lol.
Nice job!
you"re really good! I subscribed
thanks.. doubt I'll ever match your technical soloing skills
seriously so good!!!!!
hopefully hail to the king will be DLC!
Hopefully not.
BradTheThird there is somthing worng with you if u dont want hail to the king for a dlc song
MrPULSERECON I don't care what songs from what albums, as long as I learn more A7X!
I want them to put so far away on the game!
Perry Smoke
That song made me cry, honestly. It was a damn good song and tribute to the best drummer(IMO), and when watching the video to it, just makes you cry.
On tap next :) Give me a couple weeks though as I need to learn it cleanly. There are a lot of "feel" notes in that one and that is something I need work on :).
Two words: You Rock!
That synister gates guitar tho
Synyster
What evz. Still a great guitar. Is that the custom or the standard schecter?
Standard, the custom comes with the Sustaniac pick up which this one doesn't have
I've got the Omen extreme-6 with Floyd Rose special tremolo and locking nut. However, I've been wanting the Synyster Gates Schecter for a while now. Is it worth it for the standard?
yeas becasue the invaders are great, the floyd keeps in tune, i've only played it once but for e i wish i had one because it was working amazingly its also coil tapped
That is my fear with rocksmith is that if u already know the song you have to re learn it
Such a fun song
good job dude!
awesome playing. It's too bad customs don't work now, lets hope they can fix that soon ;)
where the fuck does everyone keep getting synester gates guitars
amazon
try your local guitar center. mine has one up on the wall, i think around a thousand dollars
i have looked in my local guitar center, no luck :/ but god i want one so bad
maybe its on their website then, if it is, you can have them order it from their site for you and it will ship to their store, but you have to pay up front in full right when they order it
Justin Duncan i just checked guitar center has it on their website, go to your local store and order it there if you want it
How are you not getting copyright strikes on your account? A lot of the other people I subscribe to have to strip the audio out of their videos because they have already received two strikes.
I'm not sure but, I think it's the fact that it's him playing, and not Brian. Possibly, I think I saw something like that before on a few videos.
I've uploaded a few Bandfuse gameplay videos and every one of them gets copyright strikes as soon as I upload them.
It is called partnership for a reason :D
Smooth!
holy crap dude
epic
Cool, I will go that route instead of trying to level each section by doing a full play through. I agree that the new Rocksmith is better. What are the things you wish they would add?
nicely done
Very nice man, as usual.. The only new Rocksmith 2014 song I've tackled is Deftones My Own Summer (Shove it). I've found that the score attack tends to be very picky. hey ive got to say im no guitar hero, but whatching that was awsome. nick smith keep doing what your doing its really cool man. the question is could you play that without rocksmith showing you what to play though? non the less that was sweet.
Yea you can enable master mode and it'll make the notes fade away as you get better.
Man, hope I be getting to your kinda level soon. My max is like 69% lol
AMAZING
thats so sick!
You´re really good. I have 90% on this song.
The tapping is because.. Its what Synyster Gates does when he plays it.
Nice job, liked
Can you do a video of Earlyrise - Wastleland
please please... im trying to learn it but having problems, i'd enjoy seeing it.. thank you
so as a guitar player for 9 years this game is pretty difficult. Its like yeh no more bullshit
Awesome video man!
The exact same parts are giving me odd troubles with missed notes. Haven't been through it in score attack yet, since I haven't learned the acoustic section yet. But I went through riff repeater recently and those were the problem sections for some reason.

SA definitely has its quirks.
This was Halsh before his time but halsh does 100% songs
Impressive!!!!
looks fun
I got bored of guitar hero because I wanted to really play a guitar. For beginners, does this game help any. Also I have an accoustic.
Rocksmith only functions with an electric guitar or bass
It's pretty good for people who have some form of experience. It will work with your acoustic if it has a plugin (which would make it acoustic-electric).
As stated above, you will have to get an electric guitar to be able to use the game. I went away from Guitar Hero and Rock Band too. So at this point rather than looking at the colors you basically just see the chord label coming and just know all the chords and sht right
Not really, I sorta recognize the chord shapes... when it throws a new one at ya (If your not a proffesional) youll miss it a good few times while you sorta get your head around it. hey im very new to guitar and im having trouble with streching my fingers more than 1 fret apart? is this normal or am i just being weird lol. and is there a quick fix to this problem. thanks keep up the great work man.
This may be a dumb question but how do you set it with the score and multiplier and phase fail thing when I play it it doesn't have that?
how did you add the scores, multiplayer and thos big monitors with the perfect and good text? I don't have it
Hey Nick! I have been watching your videos and you rock man! I have one question for you. Have you expierienced lag with Rocksmith and, if so, has Rocksmith 2014 improved lag wise?
Thanks milton! For me, the lag hasn't been too bad at all, even when I record video. Just make sure your video settings are set appropriately for performance with the video card you are using (if you are using PC of course).
how long have you been playing guitar for now? did you start playing guitar with rocksmith or had you been learning without it?
How u hit those fast notes on the solo I saw her index finger looked like it stayed in the same place
now that you know how to play it, i dont think that you should play it with the rock smith any more. it sounds like your playing more for the score than quality. nothing personal, i just hope this helps.
Damn I'm at 60% and this looks insane
That's crazy..
How do you do it that you can use your 5th finger of your left hand? It's so uncomfortable for me. But without 5th finger I can't play fast! How can I learn to use it?
Not 100% but it's still a damn good job, nice one :)
Synester gates guitar from schecter guitar.
God I cant press 2 strings with my pinky finger.. how do you press 3 strings with this little finger? :/
This looks IMPOSSIBLE
If you're a guitar player before being a rocksmith player you'll know that when it comes to this kind of song and "difficulty" (talking about the solo) you better learn it with a tab (from the official tab book or syn himself on youtube) than through the game, i do know how to play it but i have to admit that in game this is really confusing
HDLumix Game is mmuch better than tabs if you use it as a tab, Just memorize from the game how to play it and then practice out of the game,
Piotrek Lesiński How that's better ? You need to launch the game to "memorize" the part of the song, a tab can be open at anytime if it's just a .jpg or .txt or even a .gp file and just play the music from youtube if you need some backtrack to play along
Reading from game is much easier than reading tab and you can hear rythm at any time.
tacky0022 it's actually easy
Is Rocksmith 2014 better than Rocksmith? I mean with the learning new stuff, the song list, the whole UI? do you actually learn even more stuff in 2014? i.e Pitch Harmonics, Whammy-bar tutorials? Like to get some feedback before I buy the game. Cheers!
That's sinister gates guitar 0.0
Rocksmith is nice and realistic music game but without live feeling as guitar-hero,there are not humans under the stage
I play acoustic mainly and electric is a whole other beast. Would it be beneficial for me to pick up rock smith? Does it actually help you learn?
Yeah man! There is a lot of lessons. But, check out Jammit. Just tell me when you do. Jammit will blow your mind
I imagine you had experience before rocksmith right? or are you a rocksmith prodigy?
