I follow over 500 channels on RUclips and the videos in this series are by far my most eagerly anticipated. You're a phenomenal artist Kyle, and your videos provide a lot of happiness to a lot of people that are struggling at the moment. Thank you
You are absolutely right. I'm a bladesmith myself but at the moment I'm homeless and sleep on the streets. I charge my phone at coffee bars to be able to have at least RUclips. My dog recently got osteoporosis. I do indeed struggle a lot and indeed Kyle's uploads are my highlight every time they are posted. Stay well brother
Kyle I wondered when I’d see the next one on this sword. It’s been a while. Good to see you back. I watch some #500+ channels as well and your one I look forward to. To the welder!
Seen a lot of comments from people complaining about how he's acting now, yet they fail to understand you're seeing days and days, sometimes a week of his time, condensed into 40mins-hour, I don't doubt he acts like this all the time and I'd say it's the editing that's changed actually, probably just to show off more of his personality, great I say, I hope the trolls stop crying one day and just let people be themselves:/🎉
For real. He's just a guy who really enjoys his work and having fun being a goof while doing it. Do I vibe with his jokes/sense of humour, not really, but ain't no excuse or reason for me to make a rude comment about it either. He's having fun, so who the hell am I to shame him for it? He's making works of art and that's why I watch these vids. If his personality bothers people so much, that's a them problem not his, and they should simply leave quietly instead of trying to quiet someone for who they are.
I’m reminded of the line, “I waann that.” Said with a Southern Accent by Bobby Duke Art. That’s the first time I’ve seen a sword that I really would want. It’s beautiful, even not yet finished.
Love all of your videos man. I also HATE having to wait so long for new vids haha. I watch these when I’m going to bed. They are so relaxing and help me sleep good just hearing the clashing 😂 am I the only one? Keep up the good work man!
My favorite ads are the ones where the creator is actually sharing their knowledge - I dont make knives and dont plan to any time soon but if I do im definitely taking his courses
I came upon this series late, but have been following it and watched some of your other videos. I’m not a bladesmith myself, but love watching it, especially Damascus patterns. Your work is AMAZING! Looking forward to the finished product. Keep being yourself and enjoying what you are doing. You are awesome, and I love seeing your family dynamics. Shows you as a person as well as the master craftsman that you are.
What I am about to say Kyle I say with complete respect. You sir are a NERD!!! 🤓 🤓 I too am a nerd and this world needs more of us nerds just out here being weird. As always I appreciate your videos and the skill, passion, and pursuit of perfection is incredibly inspiring. Keep that hammer arm strong and keep your steel straight.
At 6000 rpm, the G forces on a 10' merry-go-round would be something on the order of 6,300 G. If you were somehow forced to stay on the merry-go-round, such as standing against a wall on the edge, you'd very quickly turn into a sort of gritty soup.
Hey Kyle! the button on your helmet is grind mode. A light will blink in your helmet when activated. You have to hold it down for 3 seconds. That way you can grind and it not darken on you. I have the same model helmet
At first I thought Kyle was a complete nerd. And he is. But what I didnt realise was that Kyle is in fact so much of a nerd it went beyond the limits of my nerd scale and well into the realm of being Effing cool!
What would a custom made shovel using 4130 cromoly, 7075 aluminium and black vulcanised rubber( the materials used in a bmx bike ) to dig trails cost? I figure if I spend a bunch of change on a shovel I'll get back into digging trails again after my spinal injury.
Love your videos, and I am always amazed at what you make. Only one ask: lose the popsicle sticks please, we don’t need more forced fire, let the process speak for itself.
Great work. Question for you, Kyle and company. How come you didn't do a feather Damascus for the the Griffin guard? I would have thought that would be very fitting with the theme to have a feathered Damascus handle with the beautiful Mosaic blade. The work still looks great, just a thought that was eating at me.
You're bar none the best knife maker on RUclips... I like that you're letting your inner nerd fly more freely in your videos lately, but it's a bit much in this one.
yeah, I like that he's goofy, but it seems like here he's repeating jokes in case the first one isn't good enough in the edit...but the edit includes every take. Eother stop repeating the joke, or be more descening in the edit. As it is, the goofing around doesn't feel as spontaneaous, and even if it is just kyle being kyle, it's a bit to much (and I've been there as a teen when I was much more insecure... it's not a problem if people don't laugh at the joke, you'll get them on the next one, but you'll never get them by forcing the joke.)
JESUS !! That's like tolerances taken to an extreme for an item designed to kill and a perfect example of how neurotic we have become since the 12th/13th centuries when they used to hammer out a sword in a couple of days that was good enough for the job. That's proper OCD.
Hi Kyle don't know if you ever accept suggestions for a build or not. I would enjoy seeing you build a copy of Orcrist from Lord of the Rings in a feather demascus pattern and a fossil walrus or mammoth tusk in the handle. With all of the Royer flares and tweeks to the demascus pattern and parts to make it a true original.
Yeah it REALLY sucks when the ADF (auto darkening Filter) doesnt work, which is why i always instruct ppl to wear the Z87+ safety glasses under their helmet. i wouldnt recommend welding in them but it will protect you against flash burn from a momentary arc.
At the start of day 39 you said that if the pattern on the guard didn't turn out like you wanted it too, you'd have thrown away the piece. Would you have actually discarded it, or kept just in case you or someone else wanted to use it on another project?
If you took this stack of steel and put it in a canister and brought it to temp, how would this compare to canister Damascus? Sorry, newbie here. I long for knowledge though. Like Woots steel.
When pressing the metal together wouldn't it be better to press it all together at the same time in a straight line if you could build something like that?
If your welding hood isnt working properly you should do what we do here in Turkey whilst stick welding on the street on the pavement.... Giving no warning to the pedestrians around you, take off your sunglasses, hold them just above the weld, engage your safety squint ans just go for it.
I love that you're putting metal fittings on the scabbard. That's something that bugs me - windlass will make metal fitted scabbards, but places like Darksword won't. I considered buying Darksword's Damascus Anduril, but it doesn't have the matching scabbard. Other companies like Albion don't bother with scabbards at all...
I'm not sure I am really appreciating the pattern on the guard- I'm going to have to see it finished. But the shape looks good, and that is a honkin' big pommel.

Your dad always has your back! You have an amazing dad!

Man, I can't wait to see this thing finished.
You feel like all of us man. ❤
Thanks for your beautiful video, I love following your sword series! God bless you and your family
And God bless you, brother

You are not the only one 😊
Really enjoying following this sword build! So much suspense!

I am so enjoying this build as all your work ,,,,exciting stuff good Job lad ...Angie in Edinburgh Scotland 😊
Loving this series, bro! I've been interested in getting into bladesmithing, but this series has convinced me that I need to do it!
While you're at it you should cut off a small piece of the same pattern and forge yourself a Griffin belt buckle.
Loved the closeups and slow motion shots!

So much Damascus and I love it!
So fun to see naughty Kyle hanging out 😂 Griffin Sword is lucky to have been made with real joy and zero pretense 👍

39:00 Kyle? is That "Drop Forging" ?? 😅
Who in their mind would ever dislike this? Godlike knifemaker content!
King of the Castle!!!! The best bladesmith in the universe!!!!
He is indeed! Right alongside arpad bojtos
Kyle - our own highly skilled, nerd's nerd. Well done.
Kyle for the next one you should make Gut's sword from the anime Beserk!
I wish I had the money to commission a 6ft flamberge, lol. God this thing is gonna be sweet when it's all finished.
If this was a video game the Gryphon Sword would be a side quest or boss battle reward
PS thank you very much for all of the educational content it's invaluable
This guy is funny in a wholesome kind of way😂 someone i wouldve enjoy to hang around

The adhd was strong today, good job Kyle! 👍
You are such a strange and weird and interesting dude. Oh and talented, love your channel.
Hey man, I haven't been getting your shows! I thought you were dead. GREAT to see you!
I wanna see him make a nodachi next!
I didn’t know you were a pipe smoker, and just for him should have a pretty good middle earth pipe tobacco series as well
Love your videos, and I am always amazed at what you make. Only one ask: lose the popsicle sticks please, we don’t need more forced fire, let the process speak for itself.
I miss the k-so gag. I find the repetitive humor endearing, including the handle on the situation gag. Lol
almost burns a hole through his leg dropping the glowing hockey puck and all he says is "haha" 😂
We love you guys. All of you
may i suggest introducing some music to play on top of your timelapse/sped up footage. might add some dynamics to the vids. cheers!
Have you ever thought of trying out a different color of lining for the guard? Like brass or silver instead of gold?
Seen you posted this morning, finally got to press play👍👍👍
Dude..quirky asf and hilarious! keep doin you bro!
The button on the side of the helmet is the grinding mode.
Thanks for another really excellent video
Great video mate 👍🇦🇺🇺🇸

"Would ya look at that?"
Getting some DudeDad vibes
Hands down the best series on RUclips right now, I don't think Kyle realises how good his channel really is.
S Tier Content.
Right? Off all those I follow his is the one I get most excited about. A lot of it has to do with how much you can tell he enjoys his work.
I like looking at it. It's some beautiful work

You're a whiner. Let the man be himself.
I love watching your vids, guys!
As a fellow pipe smoker I love the pipe reference.
I like the Tim the tool man Taylor you put in there
Sweet!
I've never had a first comment before:)
Just getting into a little forging, you make it look so easy. But I'm sure it will get easier as I practice
Griffin claw holding the epoxy resin "fire opal"
He is the greatest
🐐
Have you hand forged a sword from start to finish including the tapers and any Fuller's and any other features
I watched forged in fire and wonder, would your knives and swords be supperior in strength and sharpnes tests.
Probably, but they only get a few days to make it
Good video!
what an epic journey watching you craft this! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Your wood scraps add new meaning to "forged in fire"
Sometimes I wonder if he takes his meds regularly
Yea I doubt it
Oh, Yeah!
👍

Kyle when he's 75 is going to be awesome.

"It's better at sticking to things than I am" 😂
JUST FRIGGIN GREAT!! Now i gotta wait another 12 friggin days for another Griffin Sword video!
Man I just wanna look at it
When pressing the metal together wouldn't it be better to press it all together at the same time in a straight line if you could build something like that?
ROYER DRINKING GAME
Drink the number when Kyle says:
Billet, Weld, Forge ===> 1 Drink
Chatoyance ========> 2 Drinks
Handle on the Situation > 3 Drinks
The button on your hood is grind mode
Correction, your grinder is moving at 8100 RPM with the Gryphon sticker on it.
I just watched the 53k layer sword. But never got to see any finished sword. Why?
You've been watching a lot of Steele haven't you? Shurap might have more ideas for you too.
It would be so handy if there was such a thing as a metal planer... Speed up that grinding business
I'm not sure I am really appreciating the pattern on the guard- I'm going to have to see it finished. But the shape looks good, and that is a honkin' big pommel.
Exhibiting at Solvang this year?
good vid
would ya look at that!
👍👍👍
Yup, guys remember to never use your sword without a good guard 😉
I see you are using the "stick-the-tongue-out" method, my grandma taught me the same. Stick the tongue out, everything succeeds better.
can you make a Video on magancut damascus
The Ed baddmaster reference
ah a subtle agressive pattern
For the algorithm
Yayyy first!
Talbot wants his Plylers, ok
"Hands at your side"
I had no idea that welding helmets were electrical??
Newer ones yes, old school one no lol
Day 38 is missing!😭
You are an amazing artist, but you are out there just a little bit. But one hell of a craftsman.
Kyle has to C-walk before he can W-walk...
