    This video shows a timelapse video on how to create a stylized material within Substance Designer. Substance Designer can be a somewhat technical program, but with enough practice any artist can become really good at it. The goal of the video was to make a material in less than an hour.

    Nice video! Just a tip though, you should turn up your normal intensity (you can enter values above the slider max), especially when you want to understand all the different forms you are creating, instead of turning the camera to see the height map. Nice work :)

      It's from Marmoset Toolbag, I bought the Substance Masters Vol.1 from Jonas Ronnegard and it comes with a marmoset toolbag file; I have been using that as my template for rendering these.

    How we can export this material to unity4 and keeps the volume? Mine looks plane

      You can, but that requires the use of paralax occlusion or enabling displacement on the material

    I'm sorry if it's a dumb question but I've been going along with the video and it's all well and good until I try to apply to texture to a 3D model inside of Substance painter and it comes out completely flat with some nice stones drawn on. Am I using it wrong or does it only really turn out like this inside of Designer?

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  5 лет назад

      You can try to increase the normal map intensity, it will not be totally 1 to 1 from designer, specially if you were previewing with the height map since the height map doesn't work the exact same way as in designer.

    • @Papriqua
      @Papriqua 5 лет назад

      @@3dextrude Aw, that's a shame, i was trying to cheat my way out of modeling a bunch of stones onto a house but I don't think just a normal map will be enough to sell the effect.
      Thank you so much for taking the time to reply!

    Is proper uv unfolding layout compulsory for "substance painter"?

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 лет назад +1

      For Painter you need Uvs, this video is about Susbtance Designer and I making a material here so no uvs of any kind are needed for this.

  • @SHARP3D

    Following along and at 1:06 you create a bevel node in between edge detect and blend. When I do this I cannot connect the outputs of the bevel into the blend. The connections lines come out dashed and they wont plug into the blend. Ideas? Running 2018.2.2 Thanks!

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  5 лет назад

      That happens when you try to blend an rgb node with a grayscale one, add a levels node in between and it should work.

    • @SHARP3D
      @SHARP3D 5 лет назад

      @@3dextrude Actually I paid closer attention to what you did by slowing down the video. Same issue happened to you where bevel wouldn't connect to blend, but when you connect in reverse and connect the input from blend to output of bevel it works. Silly. Thanks for the help!

    • @3dextrude

      I can't remember where I read this , but I read somewhere that the height map comes out nicer by setting it that way

    Hi! Is there a way to purchase final project files from different tutorials and timelapses of yours? I would gladly buy a few.

    • @3dextrude
      @3dextrude  6 лет назад

      Not currently, but I can add them to Gumroad. Which ones are of interest? And would you prefer if they were grouped in a pack, one price for a pack of files or would you prefer them seperately?

    • @shamzfk
      @shamzfk 6 лет назад

      Hey! Thanks for the reply. I would absolutely buy substances, they are nice and customizable, I would love to buy existing ones and any that will come, pack or not, doesn't matter. Also, models, they are nice! I personally would absolutely get everything stylized medieval you've got there:) (source is very important, like high/low models and painter files, in order to customize)

      @Himansu Ganguli I followed how he did it in the video.
      In the bar above the 3D view there is a tab called Materials
      Then go to definitions
      Then the Physically Based option
      Then choose the Tessellation option.
      In the top right those settings he has will be there.
