    Fun fact: Outside the X-Men Movieverse Juggernaut is Professor-X’s stepbrother and not actually a mutant. He was given a magical gem that turned him into the Juggernaut. Love your reactions!

      @@bt3519 it's actually comic stuff. The gem he finds is an artifact of Cytorak, a myatic deity. Not sure what Cytorak does but he's usually evoked whenever something is meant to be near indestructible, like those bandages sorcerers keep summoning to hold people (don't remember the proper name in english, but i believe they appear, with no name, in Multiverse of Madness)

      @@bt3519 i wouldn't take Deadpool as canon. It makes a lot more plot holes, sort of, like how there would be 2 Wade Wilson that each became a Deadpool of their own. And yeah he travels back in time to kill the other one, but he also comments about the future (Logan) the won't come to pass so it's more likely he's in a Elsewords situation

    I’ll say it again, Cyclops is extremely under-portrayed in all these movies. In comics, he is a calculated, cold, smart, badass leader.
    He is at CAPTAIN AMERICA’S level. Yeah. In the big “Avengers vs X-MEN” comic event, they went head-to-head with each other.
    Not to mention the massive respect the entire X-Men has for him as their leader. They rely on him. This includes Wolverine who is famously quoted in comics “Every now and then, Summers…I remember why you’re still in charge”. Even if they butt heads, there was RESPECT.
    Anyways, sorry for that tangent. It just always ticks me off how they portray Cyclops who is such a complex character. Totally reduced here & highly underrated. Ok I’m done I’m done

    Warren (Angel) was part of the original X-Men team line-up, when the comic debuted back in the 60s. Other original team members were Cyclops, Jean (Marvel Girl), Iceman, and Beast (the blue furry guy, but, he didn't start out blue and furry that happened to him later... originally he just was super acrobatic and strong and had big hands and feet)
    Professor X led the team and Magneto was their first villain.

    Also, the point about Magneto abandoning Mystic because she doesn't have her powers anymore is very weird. There are mutants whose powers are to change tv channels with their blinks. As long as Mystic is not a human that would go after mutants, there is no reason why this would need to happen. I think that that was a bit of an oversight of the screenwritters that didn't think enough about the whole thing.

    • @maul42
      @maul42 11 месяцев назад +5

      Magneto is written inconsistently here. One that he would so quickly abandon Mystique (though it may still happen) but then that he would sacrifice so many of his precious mutants as 'pawns'.

    Unfortunately, this is the end of this iteration of the Fox X-Men. There was no X4 made so this storyline is over. The next group of movies are a whole new version of the X-Men story. While you’re watching the movies going forward try to resist the temptation of thinking how the continuity of the new movies relate to those first 3 films. It will drive to wacky. Just enjoy the ride from this point on.

    Another awesome reaction! Just to clarify levels on a mutant are a way of judging how powerful they are. Class 5 mutants are also in the comics called Omega level mutants. Omega is Greek for the end. They are mutants so powerful they could in theory end life on a planet wide level. Jean Grey is one of those. Technically speaking Bobby is also a level 5 mutant and so is Storm. Just for more context! Anyway another great reaction!

    It was a kindness Logan did for Scott saying that she chose him, because it was a love triangle and Scott clearly was nervous/jealous of Logan. Logan removed that doubt from his mind because she couldn't anymore, instead of letting it linger in his mind.
    07:48
    Would you cut off someone's legs cause they used them to run from the cops?
    Logan took Xavier's treatment of Jean's mind personally because he's always been treated like an animal, and he thought that Xavier was better than that being one of the first people to treat him like a person (that he can remember), not realizing just how bad Jean was.
    Jean coming back to herself was what allowed him to kill her. Phoenix wouldn't have let him.
    Rogue getting the cure isn't just about Bobby, it's about all future partners. She'll never be able to touch any of them. Have sex. Have kids. Imagine if you couldn't touch your husband. Imagine if you couldn't hold your baby.
    From this point on, unless the movie you're currently watching references an event SPECIFICALLY, then just assume that it never happened.

    *LOUD TYPING ABOUT THE END CREDIT SCE…* oh wait, never mind 😁
    Yeah, X-Men 3… it looks good, has good action & FX and has a speedy pace… but it misses a lot of why made the first two so good. Character moments are surface-level, so many things are skipped over, character actions lack logic and so many characters are short-changed. It shouldn’t be a surprise, really - the production lost Bryan Singer when he was given the chance to direct Superman Returns and he took James Marsden with him, so Cyclops couldn’t be a main character in X3, leading to the third instalment of “How Cyclops’ character was underused.” Then they lost replacement director Matthew Vaughn, who recently said that the main reason he quit was not the usual “creative differences,” but because he saw a script in the producer’s office that was much fatter than the one he’d read. He was told that it was the bogus script they were showing Halle Berry, who had yet to sign onto the film, and contained far more scenes for Storm. They planned to ditch it as soon as she signed the contract, and Vaughn thought this was a terrible thing to do and quit. Replacement replacement director Brett Ratner had a very very short preproduction, and the whole thing feels like a very expensive rush job as a result - flashy but soulless.
    And why did Magneto use the Golden Gate Bridge to get to Alcatraz, when he could’ve used any other method instead? Sure, it was a big statement, but it meant that his enemies could get to him from the mainland… and how come it stayed level and above the water? Was Magneto levitating it throughout the battle? And why didn’t it collapse when he was “cured?” And why didn’t they use the cure on Jean rather than killing her? Wolverine could’ve had a syringe stashed in the back of his waistband, cos his trousers mysteriously weren’t obliterated by Jean’s power like his shirt was… and why… and why…? 😂

    22:12 - "What console was that?" - The controllers look like PS2 controllers, however that doesn't mean much. Movies are well known for not being too concerned with reality where video games are concerned. It would be next to impossible to play a disc-based video game console in a moving car. They're finicky enough as it is, throw in the vibrations of a moving car and that console is going to be giving them all sorts of errors. Most likely the makers of this movie just thought it would look cool to have the kids playing a video game in the back seat. There probably wasn't even a screen in front of them and they just added in an insert shot of some game playing on a screen.
    27:54 - "Ah man, right when she turned into our Jean!" - She knew that she couldn't control her powers, so she wanted him to kill her.
    When you get to X-Men: Days of Future Past, make sure to watch "The Rogue Cut" version.

    Hey, Marijchu! If one has no comic knowledge, this film is an emotional powerhouse! While it is true that this movie is unfairly maligned for reasons beyond its entertainment value alone, those reasons are significant. "The Dark Phoenix Saga" is a beloved and complex epic serving as a major milestone in X-mythology. As the film trilogy is so grounded, it was impossible to tell a sweeping saga of interstellar empires and cosmic beings spanning millennia. Fox tries once with each cast and failed twice. As a film without context existing in a movie vacuum, it is fun, exciting and in keeping thematically with the other two entries. As an adaptation of the Phoenix Saga, it is an abysmal failure. By the way, Scott, not Wolverine, kills his beloved at the end of the story but, as Hugh Jackman was the popular lead and main audience POV character, he did the honors in the film.
    Katherine "Kitty" Pryde goes by the name Shadowcat. In the comics, she is the character that Rogue represents in the series as the new girl with a crush for one student and a close friendship with Wolverine. Her character was played by a different actress during the mansion invasion in "X2". She was the kid who slipped through her bed and phased through a commando. Ellen Page took over the role in "X3".
    The brain-dead body Charles inhabits is that of his twin brother. This is not mentioned in the movie but comic readers recognized the plot. Henceforth, when you see Stewart Xavier you can subscribe to the twin rationale for having the same face or just assume he is projecting the Stewart face to others for the sake of familiarity.
    If you want more of Anna Paquin's Rogue, make sure you see the "ROGUE CUT" of "Days of Future Past".
    "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is the next film.

    This is not the real Phoenix story from the comics and neither is Dark Phoenix 2019. She was "dead" for 13 years on the comics the first time. They would have had to introduce an entire alien empire and it would have spanned decades to be comic accurate. This was the first and only time we got the original five X-Men in a movie. Jean, Cyclops, Angel, Iceman and Beast who are all supposed to be the first students and the same age. they started off as teens in the comics and are probably in their early 30's now.

    This film angered many die-hard fans by changing characters, killing off characters, changing storylines, etc..
    I didn't like it much. There were a few good scenes, but most of it was junk, IMO.
    The worst part was at the end of the climactic battle, when Magneto looked around at all the carnage and said, "What have I done?" It was a total rip-off of Colonel Nicholson's line at the end of "The Bridge On The River Kwai" (1957). The unoriginal writing was painful to hear.

    IMO, the final chapter of this trilogy is the most flawed of the bunch. Least favorite moment: Magneto ditching Mystique after being so close for so long. Generally, the writers seemed to want to rewrite Magneto as a total villain, and I feel like they kind of walked back some of the more nuanced character development of the previous two films.

    You spotted Stan Lee, but that scene also has a cameo from Chris Claremont - he was the man whose lawnmower floated away. Claremont started writing X-Men comics in the 1970s and continued to do so for 17 years straight. All of the movies - especially from this one - draw from concepts that and storylines that he (and his many artistic collaborators) introduced during that run, and it was only during that time the X-Men became popular. Prior to the 1970s relaunch, their series had been cancelled due to low sales.

    When my friends and I saw this at the theaters we were so angry. It felt like the writers knew this was the last movie in the trilogy and didn't know if there was going to be any more so they just went nuts killing off characters. The other issue I have with this movie and later X-Men Dark Pheonix, is they try to fit an incredibly long and complex story arc into one movie. Any video that gives a recap of The Dark Pheonix saga on RUclips is an hour long at the least.

    Dear Mary: Magneto knows how to play chess - rather well. And he and Mystique foresaw the possibility of one or both of them getting hit by the cure (the fortunes of war) - so they planned ahead. In this senerio Magneto publically disowned Mystique so that the opposition (president and Stryker) would believe mystique when she betrays Magneto. But she didn't --- she provided a distraction so that Magneto could attack Alcatraz Island 'unopposed'.

    Recommendation you'll probably ignore, but, up to you: skip Origins: Wolverine... or just watch the opening credits sequence which was cool and then skip the rest. It's shit. It's so bad that several of the other films basically ignore it like it didn't happen. They introduce Deadpool but completely f* up his character, so, the Deadpool movies act like it never happened. They introduce younger versions of Scott and Charles, but, it creates continuity errors if you treat the movie like canon. They introduce young Emma Frost... but... she is reintroduced in the next movie and they act like she's a new character because the timeline doesn't match up so they just had to retcon and say the character in Origins that was obviously Emma was not Emma. It's really bad. Plus the script is terrible. The FX are terrible. The acting is a low point for the series at least up until Apocalypse. It's a very, very skippable movie. They get into some back story between Sabretooth and Wolverine, and in that department there are at least some moments.. but... it's not worth watching the rest of the film to see them and overall you're better off not seeing it if you wish to move forward on your X-Men journey. Pretty much the only relevant thing in the movie that comes back later in Logan (very unfortunately, because it's also a super super dumb thing) is adamantium bullets... a very, very stupid plot device used in the film to explain something that was explained so much more elegantly in the comics.
    X-Men: First Class is excellent. Definitely watch.
    The Wolverine is the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and is probably the most underrated film in the series (if not Last Stand)... really solid movie. Doesn't add a lot to the overall continuity, but very much worth watching. Actually this one is my mom's favorite.
    X-Men: Days of Future Past is hands down the best film in the FoX-verse. Great climax and culmination of all the films that came before it. Would actually make sense to just stop here, honestly. but there's also...
    Deadpool & Deadpool 2 - great films. Hilarious. Sort of take place in the FoX-verse but don't really have much to do with the rest of the movies. The Deadpool character introduced in these films has virtually zero to do with the Deadpool character introduced in Origins: Wolverine... even though he's played by the same actor... confusing.. I know.
    Logan - the culmination of the Wolverine solo films trilogy and a lot of people say the best X-Men film, if not the best comic book movie, ever made. Personally I prefer Days of Future Past, but, this is another good way to end the whole series... even though it goes out on much more of a downer than DoFP does.
    X-Men: Apocalypse - this movie is total shit. My recommendation is not to watch it.
    Dark Phoenix - barely better than Apocalypse, apart from the FX and the score by Hans Zimmer which are both apex for the series. But... it's definitely not a good movie. The 2nd time in a row they screwed up the Dark Phoenix storyline, even if they came a little bit closer to getting it right this time, they still failed.
    The New Mutants - honestly better than Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix... but... also a pretty mediocre film and it is only very, very barely connected to the other FoX-verse movies. The last one made and released. Take it or leave it. Could skip Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix and watch this and you wouldn't have missed anything. Or skip all 3 and you'll have missed very little. It's got Colossus' little sister Illiana in it, but they never make mention of their relationship. It also has Sunspot in it who showed up in Days of Future Past, but, most people probably didn't realize it was the same character.

    Regarding how Charles is alive, because they don’t really spell it out later: he was teaching a class about the ethics of using mutant powers and talked about transferring someone’s consciousness into a brain dead patient, and they showed a man whose body was basically fully functional but had no consciousness. Charles transferred himself into that man, and in the commentary they confirm that man is Charle’s twin brother.
    Also, keep in mind the name of the doctor in the credit scene. Moira.

    The whole "class 5" "class 4" nonsense was just lazy screenwriters trying to take shortcuts to letting the audience know that Jean/Phoenix was super powerful. They never reference this class system again in any other film or in the comics. Though, in the comics they do sometimes talk about "Omega level" mutants.
    You misheard Callisto. She said that Magneto was class 4 and nobody else in the room was above a class 3. I guess class 5 is what they would call Omega level in the comics.... though... when they reach their full potential I think Magneto, Xavier, and Iceman are all Omega level.. could be wrong.

    • @masansr
      @masansr 11 месяцев назад +3

      In the comics it does make sense. Omega mutants are the ones that could destroy the world (or in rare cases, the entire Universe) if they managed to unleash their full potential. Jean, Magneto, Bobby (Ice Man) and some others are on that level (not Xavier, though).

    • @jamesfromacct
      @jamesfromacct 11 месяцев назад

      @@masansr not exactly the same as having the ability to do it on his own, but Xavier in X2 with help from Cerebro could've killed all the humans had others not interfered. I personally would consider that an Omega level threat. If anything I'd classify Xavier as more powerful than Magneto, I wouldn't consider Magneto an Omega level threat until his powers are upgraded and fully unlocked (like via Apocalypse unlocking his powers from just controlling metal, to using the magnetosphere/gravitational fields to control all types of matter)

    • @masansr
      @masansr 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@jamesfromacct I wasn't talking about the movies (although they are inspired by the comics).
      Sure, Xavier WITH the help of Cerebro (that Magneto helped to design) could kill anyone on the planet. Magneto's powers are that he can completely control electromagnetic fields. He could literally pull the entire planet apart if he wished to.

      @nooneofconsequence1251 The cartoon still holds up. Bryan Singer watched every single episode before making the first X-Men film and had nothing but praise for it. In fact, it actually influenced the characters that appeared in the movie, as they were his favourite X-Men from the show.

    7:24 From what I can gather from the internet discussions of comics lore, the mutant Classes (or Levels) are as follows:
    Class 5 = Jean Grey (Phoenix)
    Class 4 / Omega Level = Magneto, Storm, Iceman, Pyro, Jean Grey (constrained)
    Class 3 / Alpha Level = Professor X, Mystique, Rogue
    Class 2 / Beta Level = Wolverine, Beast
    However, the ranking systems aren't entirely consistent in the comics and characters' power levels have changed across various stories, so it's often not this simple or clear-cut.

    Wolverine becomes an annoying character. When he’s not being a homewrecker, he’s the total badass he’s supposed to be.
    He’s much more healthier, happy & mature when he’s with Storm in the comics (& show). With Jean, he’s begging.
    Plus Jean & Scott’s love story is one of Marvel Comic’s most iconic romances along with Rogue x Gambit’s.

And specifically her fear that he's going to leave her for someone who can do things with him that she can't. They could have at least made it clear that she wants that physical connection as much as Bobby does.

    X-Men was the Big Bang of the Marvel Universe as we know it today. X2 a vast improvement over the first, I feel they were just being cautious initially, so many different directions to go in. The Last Stand tripped and fell flat on its face of its own potential to me. I see what they mean to dot, but running in too many directions at the same time. I get it.. Perhaps titled it wrong, But it absolutely has its moments. I'm no gatekeeper here. I do like this movie, I don't love it. There's something missing in the writing.
