  • Rosie O'Donnell is responding to her 19-year-old daughter's claim that her upbringing wasn't 'normal.' On Thursday, Rosie's daughter, Vivienne, posted a TikTok saying she loves her mom, 'but one thing she's not done is normal.' Rosie then responded with her own TikTok video reacting to that assertion.

It seems that Rosie did not want her children to feel as though they are celebrities living in a celebrity world so she tried to avoid explicitly stating the public persona of her friends to her children. It doesn't seem to be a big deal, I think her daughter is coming to the realisation that her childhood was atypical (whose wasn't?).

I come from a long line of musicians, and I had the good fortune to meet a lot of musical legends as I was growing up. They were all regular people, interesting people showed run into at family events and backstage at concerts. We didn’t treat these ‘family friends’ any differently, but my parents made damn sure I knew their music, even if I didn’t appreciate it at the time. Music education is important in so many ways. It’s also important to know how your family connections were formed and to hear all of the great ‘behind the scenes’ stories straight from the source. That being said…my childhood was anything but normal, (whatever normal is), and I’m so grateful for that! I was loved and taken care of, and that’s all that matters.
