I honestly don't know why so people hate nickelback. all their songs are very powerful and heart touching. I literally thought of my dad when I heard of this song . his death was so fast and came unexpectedly. while I was listening to this song it brought back so many good memories. while I was listening to this song I began to cry up a storm. This song really helped me cope after my dad passed away in his sleep in 2015, and whenever i feel down i always play this song and i remember all the good times we had as a family. I miss him so much.

I feel your pain. i lost my mother in 2006, and 2008 i was blessed with a wife and daughter.my grandmother met and spent time with my daughter before passing away recently. The point is that GOD is always with you and will never leave you alone. He is life, and everlasting life. i thought life ended when my mother passed, but God had other plans, and set my course to have a beautiful child and wife. God does things for a reason, and we may never know why. just believe in him and you shall have everlasting life in his name.

Nickelback has helped me thru some of the toughest time in life over the yrs.....I went to go see them live a few yrs back but missed half of it unfortunately......my dad is currently home in the process of recovering from an illness and my family and I have been with him every step of the way so he isn't alone..... Nickelback's songs hit home for alot of us

I have seen it more than 100 times and I never get tired, the lyrics are just beautiful and the video is even more. It's so sad to see all the memories of the young woman (Emily Bett Rickards) and that we finally realize that her father died but that despite all he has always been there for her in her heart.
My father passed away when I was 13 so this song and video really hit home and I'm in tears now! Besides that I love this song and nickelback.

I grew up with my dad being a Nickelback fan and I always enjoyed and looked forward to hearing more Nickelback during car rides. He's alive but it's sad that most people who hate Nickelback only hate them for their party songs like Burn It Down. People hate them for singing and acting like frat boys and not responsible adults. I bet most, if they heard this song, would start bawling. Hell, reading comments of this video makes me cry. We as humans are really losing our humanity, compassion, empathy, etc. It really sucks.

My father passed suddenly when I was 8, 25 years ago. My mum walked me up to his coffin at his funeral and I placed a white rose.

This song really speaks to me in more ways than one: My dad and I were never close (still aren't), even when I was baby. We hardly ever talked to each other, we never did any father-son activities, and never did we say "I love you." or hugged each other. Still, whenever I needed him, he was ALWAYS there, looking out for me & I eventually came to realize at age 8 that while he hasn't ONCE said "I love you, son." he does in fact love me. He just has a hard time saying it. When I then graduated out of high school, I hugged him and said "I love you, Dad." . For the first time in my life, he sobbed. Not just cried. That alone told him that while he wasn't much of a father, I still loved him because he at least tried to be one. Looking back, I wouldn't have changed a thing. He is who he'll always be and I'm actually proud he raised me the way he did.
