    It can further test the result of the recording. Example: In the track that placed the I / O create a Bus -Ex: bus1, insert this Bus in output of the same I / O track. Create a new Audio channel (mono or stereo) depends on the I / O you created. In this new audio track, in input, insert the same bus1 created. Arm the track to record / strike and see the result.

    Bravo Zed Mart :Your video was superb.Every other video online did not explain and show what wires go where and if they did it was like wires everywhere.I have Logic Pro X and Cubase I have tried for years with Cubase all I got was feedback.Plus in Cubase you need 4 ins and outs besides your mains.I got my Ultrafex II Stereo Widener to finally work.It makes it sound like you have Surround Sound.

    Interesting. One question:
    how do you level the procesing audio going back to Logic via line input 3-4 ? Do you turn up the volume on those line inputs of your Pre-Sonus? Where do you look to find out what the true signal level is?

  • @BrianStreckfusClassicalGuitar

    I seem to have a feedback loop no matter what I do. Is this possible to do with an interface that only has two monitor outputs? I have focusrite 18i8 + clarett 8 ADAT expansion. So I am doing outputs 1-2, and then inputs 11-12 (first two on the ADAT).
    Also, maybe just as a video idea, any tips on how to have a faster workflow? If I print a track with outboard gear, now I have it going through the master bus and the outboard gear for a second time. So I could either turn off every plugin and outboard gear (time consuming), or I have to do a dry bounce and reopen the audio file in a different program/session. That's more of a workflow thing. Maybe there is a way to have two master bus? One with effects for printing, and a blank master bus just to hear playback of the printed track without another layer of effects. Hope that makes sense.

    • @BrianStreckfusClassicalGuitar
      @BrianStreckfusClassicalGuitar 2 года назад

      I got it eventually. I ended up using outputs 7-8 with a spdif cable because I noticed in another comment you said to not run it on the same outs as monitors. I also had to make sure that the track in logic was was set to 7-8 and and not "St Out". Thanks for the video!

    To clarify if using this I/O for hardware to print, do you create a new track and record it with the outboard effect engaged on the track? I'm assuming you can't bounce out until it's printed? How would you do that on the master buss?

    I'm struggling with this because the ping does not work without first routing to a bus (the

    I tried this method with the same Presonus Fireproject and a DBX comp. , but I realized that my compressor diminished the signal from about 600 Hz and above, so more the hi low end was revealed and the resulted sound was a little bit boomy and thicky (muddy). • @colebanfillmusic
      @colebanfillmusic 3 года назад +2

      There will always be an argument that analog gear sounds better cause it can add saturation and different colors to the recording that you don’t really get digitally. Is it worth the hassle? Well it depends on what skill level you’re on when it comes to mixing. It won’t be a night and day difference using analog over digital but it can help get your mix from 95% to 100. At the end of the day it all comes down to how well you know how to use compression so if you’re a beginner I’d just use the ones in your daw cause they’re a lot more friendly and will help you understand how to truly use it. But there’s a reason the pros use analog gear. They know exactly what they want before they start turning the knobs so they get the analog saturation and color perfectly in tune with what they heard in their heads.

    I have a question, if I to put the I/O plugin on the master bus to use a bus compressor or an EQ for the entire session for instance. I hear everything perfecty when playing back my session in Logic, but after exporting my session to MP3 or WAV I don't hear any sound. Create a stereo track with input monitoring engaged for printing the mix back and the input coming from the compressor output. That way you can also monitor the mix and hear exactly the final result.

      I actually never had that problem. Do they sync when connected to each other - all blue lights? I basically only installed Universal Control from Presonus and the Firestudios synced automatically. One advice though- if you bought them second hand they may have different firmware versions, so probably check that too. You can do that in the Universal control program but you have to do it separately for each Firestudio!

      you can totally use it, but you'll have to monitor from your laptop. If you only have 2 outputs (L/R), you'll need them as an output for the compressor so you won't be able to use them to monitor.

      +Juan Pablo Mangas Alonso Not quite familiar with Pro Tools but it should be configured in "Setup-> I/O". Have a look here: www.pro-tools-expert.com/home-page/2015/10/19/free-tutorial-how-to-use-hardware-inserts-in-pro-tools-to-use-outboard-gear

    how do you print once you've set your settings?

  • @vaclavmartinek1290

    Hi, thx for the video, I'v got a problem with the Ping! If I press the Ping button I/O plugin doesn't detect latency. It stays at 0 sam. When I hear the signal after external effect there is no phase shift, but If I want record the signal (throw the bus) there is latency problem. What I'm doing wrong? Thx for the answer.

      Well that‘s strange. What is your buffer size in the overall settings?

  • @vrsstudiosorlando4062

    How would use this scenario with an external Hardware REVERB?- how would you get a "send" over the a channel ? I tried but got confused because in Logic when you create a send it automatically creates a return channel, can I put the I/O plug on a "return" channel?

    • @ZedMartyProduction
      @ZedMartyProduction  6 лет назад

      If you create an Aux/send track just put the I/O plugin on the Aux track itself.

      LOL- I actually just figured it out right after I typed that comment- so I have another question-- Im a Pro Tools Engineer for 15+ years- I want to commit to LPX now and so is there a way to MUTE the Aux Sends on and off? I know there is a little dial send wheel- but is there a shortcut or tip to throw an reverb or delay quickly on a sound?

    So when using i/o on master bus, how do you print the song?! it’s not going to work if you just bounce the track! I know how to do it but I think this video is incomplete!

  • @Vostorg777
    @Vostorg777 7 лет назад

    To save this compression you need bounce in place this track? Or you need add new track and record?

    • @ZedMartyProduction
      @ZedMartyProduction  7 лет назад

      +Vostorg Bounce in place won‘t work, but a realtime bounce through the standard Bounce „Project or Section“ should do the job.

    • @Vostorg777

      It's good if you use this hardware only for one channel. But what you can do, if you need safe compression for vocals, than use this compressor for another tracks?

    • @VikramShankarMusic
      @VikramShankarMusic 6 лет назад

      You could print the vocal track (record the output with compression to another track), then set up a new I/O for your master bus or whatever else. You can't have really multiple "instances" of the compressor unless you literally owned multiple ones routed into multiple channels. However, one advantage to just having one and printing in real-time is that it removes decision paralysis and forces you to write things in stone, which I like, although I often keep the unprocessed files around just in case.

    • @willb3698
      @willb3698 6 лет назад

      Vostorg You should do a straight record of the track (not Bounce) as it's an external signal coming in. The one thing that I/O does is work out the sample offset. BUT I would advise you to record the new track then ZOOM IN and make sure the track is offset / matched correctly.

    I have a set up of 6 hardware(s) and am starting to realize I cannot use them as a vocal chain into a Scarlett 2i2 interface correct? I need a bigger interface to be able to use latency compensation?

    • @ZedMartyProduction
      @ZedMartyProduction  6 лет назад

      You can use them if you hook them up in a row, so one unit is connected to the other. First and last is then connected to the interface. But if you want to use them independently you‘ll need a bigger interface!

    • @brycedadevil2146
      @brycedadevil2146 6 лет назад

      thank u for the reply dude i appreciate it, i actually was doing exactly that but i ask u this because of course there is latency issues which is why i decided to use them as aux tracks like plugins, i got a new interface a bigger on its not the best but itll do, tascam 16x08 and i also finally bought me the dbx 286 i been dying to get to record thru those 2 and edit with the rest, now i do not understand my interface like i thought i would it has 16 i/o's yet 8 knobs, im having trouble dedicating all my different hardware to the individual inputs, im confused because some the inputs are 1-8 outputs seem to be 9-16 but i only have control knobs for 1-8 :( idk man could u make a vid one day teaching us how to use bigger interfaces in the manner im refering too?

    • @ZedMartyProduction
      @ZedMartyProduction  6 лет назад

      Is there a software for the Tascam? It is probably just a setting issue. I don‘t have any experience with the Tascam interfaces so it is a little difficult to give some advices.
      For example I have the Presonus Firestudio Project, 3 of them, and they sync automatically once the drivers are installed. You just have to tell the Presonus Mixer software that the DAW takes care of the routing.

    • @brycedadevil2146
      @brycedadevil2146 6 лет назад

      i was actually able to get it working like i had the 2i2 working as the end of my vocal chain which is fine i can always compansate for latency but i would ideally like to just record through the dbx286 into the tascam and then create aux tracks with the rest of the hardware to use them as plugins like in ur video but i feel i am missing something, do i need a mixer or a/d d/a converter to be able to do this? i have 5 other effect processors id like to run the track out of the interface and into them but idk what im missing. i appreciate the help

It is a mono comp and i tryied to use it on vocal and ac/guitar but it does no sound when i put in mono tracks, but when i try i stereo tracks it does sound on 1 side! I l know that to be a mono comp should work well on mono tracks but what really confuse me is that why it works on stereo tracks ( on 1 side) when it should work on mono!. Again, Thanks for ur help!!
