Cars older than 40 years were notorious for bad rust, so it seems amazing they don't require testing, also MOT's should change to every 2 years like the rest of Europe as modern cars are much safer.
This guy must take about 6 hours to do an MOT. Never seen anyone use an assistant either. Is this remotely accurate? Usually get the car back in about 40 mins.
Most of it is an absolute CON. Most things are safe enough but get failed as if it's a total danger to life when it's really just in danger of breaking and just need a new one. At worst, it would hang Down, or interfere with having a smooth drive then you'd have to park it and not really being able to go too far until u get a new part. And that's the WORST case IF it were to collapse/break. Most of the time it's been running around in for months & months like that already. There really is NO excuse why after an MOT that one year later all these different parts are absolutely rusted to F or so worn they are dangerous. Everything should be seen, replaced and good to go for like 2- 5 years or so. Just Imagining your average person's car, not someone that goes racing it every day for hundreds of miles or else an old woman who drives it once a week a few miles. Just an average person. But yet you always seen to get things they find when everything was fine the previous year. They think we are stupid & ignorant on cars, so are preying upon that. There should be a law that the MOT stations are ONLY MOT stations they can't profit from failures, people having to pay them to fix it & get parts to then retest it. THEN You would get far, far more genuine tests with no vested Interests involved.
