This certainly brings back memories, my wife and I was just at Kennedy Meadows this time last year, so beautiful. She actually brought back a bucket of sand out of the south Kern, swears full of gold going to pan it out! Little did I know this would be our last camping trip together. We've been married since 1989, shortly after returning from Kennedy Meadows she became very ill, took her to the hospital something was attacking her muscle skeleton group, very toxic to one's organs. I sat in the hospital with her 12 hours a day for 10 days and she eventually passed from organ failures. Taking care of matters I was so hurt and angry, threw out and filled over 5 dumpsters of all the useless stuff we had accumulated. I did keep that bucket of sand ! Spend all the time you can with your loved one's as this is all we really have. She loved the mountains, spent a lot of time in the Mammoth area, Convict lake, Grant, Lundy, Bishop and of course Lake Isabella and the Kernville area. I just spent last week at Lake Isabella , caught bucket loads of trout, trying to cherish the time we had together.
Sorry for your loss. I’m glad you guys were also able to have so many great times with each other. I cherish all my my time spent with the ones I love because I do understand all we have is our memories at the end.
Thank you for sharing i’m glad I was able to help you bring back your great memories i have would have kept that bucket as well. those are all great places to have visited
Nice to see a fish in that area. I was up there last August and the water was still flowing high from the heavy winter. I fished some really fishing looking sections and didn't get anything. There weren't even the usual small trout bumping my fly. The spring runoff must of been brutal on the trout population.
@@stealthfirefishing Glad the fish are there. Looks like spring runoff was just starting when you were there. It will probably be pretty high until late June early July. Every fish the Kern River (the big kern 🙂) above Kernville? Some good water there.
Cute pup. Gonna keep an eye on the pup if you further go downstream. My dog swallowed a treble hook bait-fisherman left at the parking area with a piece of powerbait on it.
Nice video. The drive in looked pretty cool. I was reading about this area and saw that there were 3 roads to access this area. Can you say which road you used?

You are a great fisherman--so glad you got rewarded with that fine fish!!!
Thank you it definitely made the day
nice video. Is there alot of dispersed camping along the road/river in the event the campground is full?
I believe so just more in to Sherman Pass
thats a holdover stocker golden trout. The wild fish are typically smaller in that watershed. When was this?
Thank you for that. You are correct. I had no idea. I’m still trying to figure out all the different types of trout there are.
If you never said anything, I would’ve thought it was still a rainbow

I was able to see other trout but the water was still a little high

That is one of the things my wife and I have worried about but we always keep her close by
She’s my 12 year old puppy now all the hiking we do has kept her young

395 to nine mile Canyon Road it turns in to Shermans Pass continue straight to Kennedy Meadows Road
Hope you have fun really nice area
Nice to meet you guys. This looks great - let’s fish together sometime
You as well that would be a fun time
What an adventure 😮
How have been on your fishing
Didn't the season close up there in November?
I'm pretty sure its catch and release only during this time of year.
That was not a rainbow looks like a golden trout had spots only and the tail area of the body
@@Thizzamajig I almost always release the trouts maybe one or two I will keep out of the year
@@shauntmarkarian6287 it could’ve been a hybrid, but it did have the yellow coloring and rainbow coloring
From November to April you are allowed to catch fish but always release from April to November then you can take them
