I installed the lithium ion battery in 2004 R1200C and with the sticky rubber block kit that comes with it as the new battery is smaller than the original. All works, no problems.
I just picked up a R1200GS that came with a lithium battery. I live in a cold climate and it will be consistently below freezing soon and I know Li cannot be charged in cold weather so I am thinking about pulling the battery when snow starts falling. Normally I would just keep a battery tender on an AGM battery. I have a Genius 1 charger that has a Li mode but I still believe it is a bad idea to leave the tender on a Li battery over winter. All my AGM batteries get me 8 years or more using battery tenders this way.
We have cold winters in Bend, I keep the lithium battery on the proper maintenance charger. I will admit that the bike needs two presses to start in the very cold. If I were you I might wait one winter and see how it does.
The bmw regulator rectifier specs for a 2014 gs caution not for use with lithium batteries? Do you think you might cause damage to your bikes charging system?

I have a battery light that came on a few days ago and last night it limped home, barely running. When I put the new battery in after it gets here tomorrow, do I have to do anything to reset the computer to get the battery light to extinguish? Thank you sir or anyone who answers.
@@PacMoto I got my hands in it this morning and was relieved to find a shredded belt under the cover Sono alternator required and I ordered a belt and should be on two wheels in two days

To which spec are you referring? I’d like to know more.
What battery did you install? Does it match the specs on the original one?

@@PacMoto it only has 48 wh which is less than the 12ap in the OEM battery. Note using .4 ah = 48wh.

this one has a starting current of 240A, okay?! Does the bike start right away?!
The only issue I’ve ever had is starting the first time in extreme cold.

I had a similar situation with my RT. Once I installed the new battery everything weren’t back to operating normally.
