- In a message to the campus community, Board Chairman Jack Brennan and University President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., introduce Rev. Robert Dowd, C.S.C., as President-elect of the University.
OUTSTANDING!!!! I am thrilled and excited for the University as it moves forward on its mission and extend my congratulations!!! Very very excited and wish to extend my very best to Fr. Jenkins for his incredible service and far reaching leadership. Blessings!!!!

I would have liked to hear more from Father Dowd.

Hopefully Fr Dowd will make Notre Dame a Catholic University once again
Hopefully Fr. Dowd can take us back to what made us successful as a university, and will really take to heart his homily about the accumulation of material wealth. Notre Dame now seems to be more focused on profit and competing with secular universities rather than proudly upholding Jesus’s teachings.

They all need to get outside and see the sun on occasion. The three written speeches left me underwhelmed. Dowd needs to eat some red meat.
Sorry to say that I have to agree with you. These guys are probably good people but they look like they need something they are missing. They give the impression of a university that has become a relic from a time now past.

Father Dowd, can you lead Notre Dame with Jesus's teachings? Or will you remain secular , climate change and support homosexuality as a God given right that is no longer a sin?
Now THAT is as direct as one could get. BTW, who is against action on the deteriorating state of the natural world? Life on our planet is dying because of corporate greed (huge profits for the rich at the expense of everyone else).

If by liberal you mean that he follows the beatitudes and Jesus's two main commandments, then yes, he's liberal. MAGA won't approve, thank goodness.
My take is he will be even more LIBERAL [ anti football] than Jenkins.
