Du Hast, from back around 1998, is where I started listening to Rammstein. Some of their material is very sexual, but some of their music deals with the pains of the past and present.
Mutter:A song that deals with Abortion, and as to why someone would choose to do that to their unborn child.
Mein Tiel:An excellent analogy of a song that deals with Cannibalism, in the person of Armin Meiwes, who is known as the Butcher of Rotenburg, Germany. He invited a man to have for dinner. The invited guest WAS the dinner! Armin Meiwes drank with his guest, drugged him, cut off his Copulatory Organ, cut off a small piece of it, and tried to eat it. Before everything was said and done, Armin Meiwes killed the man, cut him up into pieces, and, over the course of the next several months, ate a good deal of him. It was absolutely horrific!
Mein Herz Brennt-A story that seems to deal with Scholastic Systematic Abuse...and that, although you might physically escape from that horrible time period, you'll always remember, in your heart and soul, what happened.
"Now dear children pay attention. I am the voice from the pillow ..." There's a dark secret behind the walls of every orphanage, right!?
The song's lyrics involve a narrator describing the terrors of nightmares. The opening line of the song's intro and chorus ("Now, dear children, pay attention. I have brought something for you") is taken from the German children's TV Show "Mr Sandman", which provided children with a "nice" bedtime story. The song's narrator appears as a much more darker version of this character.
In this video, the character of the Sandman is played by Melanie Gaydos a famous model. Melanie Gaydos has suffered from a rare genetic defect since she was born: Her head is bald, her teeth and nails are malformed. She first appears to a sleeping Richard Kruspe, triggering nightmares and sending him into a state of agony. Meanwhile, Till terrorizes the complex of Beelitz-Heilstätten (military hospital of the Imperial German Army and Adolf Hitler recuperated there after being wounded in the first world war), which acts as an orphanage. He kidnaps the orphans and places them in a cage located in the main bathroom. A female warden attempts to defend the children with a shotgun, but Till overpowers her. The warden appears in the video both young (Viktorija Bojarskaja) and old (Anna von Rüden), while Till remains the same age, indicating immortality and paranormal abilities.
While guarding the orphans, Till takes a grotesque, insect-like form with an elongated head and fingers. The children are then used in various examinations and surgeries with the rest of the band playing the doctors. The female warden is also seen assisting them in her younger form. One of the surgeries sees a child's tears extracted through a syringe, which is then vaginally injected by the Sandman. The Sandman is also subject to examinations by the doctors, as Paul H. Landers is seen giving her a gynecological examination.
She later walks in a dress shielding two small children, possibly indicating that the tears are involved in a form of In vitro fertilisation. While Till is away from the main bathroom, the children (portrayed by the rest of the band as disheveled adults) escape from their cage and the orphanage. This causes Till to tear out and consume his own heart while the Heilstätten is engulfed in an inferno. The video ends with the liberated walking away from the building, while the chorus of the piano version plays in the background, signalling the video of the piano version as an afterword. (Wikipedia)
The song "my heart burns" is the film score for "Lilja 4-ever". A film about child prostitution. That's why you could interpret the text based on this film. In the film, girls from Russia lured to Sweden in the hope of a better life, in which a young and attractive man promises her heaven there: "Dear children, take care, I am the voice from the pillow" Then the sentence "Tore it out of my chest, I can imagine that she died inside every time she was raped. Since the rapes happen under cover of the night, this motif comes up frequently in the song. They steal your hot little tears, The film is a nightmare and it leaves a feeling of emptiness and powerlessness ...

My favourite Rammstein song
Admittedly, "Mein Herz brennt" is not the easiest entry into the Rammstein cosmos.
But you should definitely give them a second chance. Rammstein is the best live band in the world and known for their spectacular stage shows.
I recommend as an easier introduction "Ich tu dir weh"(ruclips.net/video/6TR12QnOAzE/видео.html) or "Sonne" (ruclips.net/video/oK2l-1taizs/видео.html) or "Du hast" (ruclips.net/video/U5HAEzEk8QM/видео.html).
If that doesn't get you hooked, Rammstein is definitely not your music.

hahha i found out your channel because i'm atiny but rammstein is one of my favourite groups since i was a kid, their concerts are amazing because they use a lot of fire (i've been in one and it's just amazing and fucking hot) you should watch some of the live stages (maybe ich tu dir weh and engel)... my favourites songs are keine lust, sonne and zeig dich :)

You have opened the gate to a whole new experience. The further you go in, the more you find out about yourself. Look forward to many stories and incredible music from an incredible German band whose origins can be found in the former GDR. Their live performance is unmatched and their sound unique. They sing only in their native language and no matter where on this planet they give a concert - everyone can sing along.that is the magic of this music.

Rammsteins, i call them film videos (ich will, du hast, Deutschland, Mutter, Ausländer, mein Land and so on), all tell a story, often a dark one. You need the translation. Also they are state of the art belonging to pyrotechnics. Hope you have fun with some more songs of them. Thx for reaction.

Yeah, Rammstein (pronounced ram-stein, like Frankenstein) is an... interesting but talented group. Probably one of the most internationally popular bands from Germany, they're kind of industrial metal, like Nine Inch Nails. I think their most popular song is Du Hast, but I'm always amused by Mann gegen Mann. They're pretty controversial overall, and a bit dark for my taste, but definitely talented in their genre.
Interesting but talented group??? Rammstein is the best live band on earth by far and one of the most famoust metal bands. Their concerts in the largest halls and stadiums around the world are usually sold out within minutes and hours. Rammstein concerts are a life time experience
@@michaelfinck7487 Notice I did say talented. Not disputing that their shows are probably excellent. But I am allowed my opinion that they're not 100% my favorite style. There are simply other rock and metal bands that I prefer. Besides, I was mostly trying to educate QoFy about what I know about the group since he seemed a little put off by the style. I didn't really say anything negative about them or insult them in any way. We're all allowed our own preferences, and I won't back down from that. Besides, we're all here to appreciate the music. It's why I watched the video in the first place. Hope you have a nice day.

Doesn't mean we have to agree, and everyone has a right to keep their own views. But I've never thought anything was changed by yelling at each other or putting others down for thinking differently. We're all wired differently though, so I also admire people for standing up for their opinions. Superfans for any group love what they love, and I'd never want to take away from that! ✌❤🎶

If anything, I should be open to listening to your reasons why you may or may not like certain things, thus giving me a different perspective. Funnily enough, a comment of mine from seven years ago (😳😳) was replied to and brought me back to a song I hadn't heard for probably about that long. Orgasm Death Gimmick - Boom Box. Really interesting tune in my opinion.

"Ei" is always pronounced like in Frankenstein. It's only pronounced the way you say it when it's spelled "ie." So Americans mispronounce for example Harvey Weinsteins name constantly.

When I was young I didn't like Rammstein. For me it was no music just noise. Now that I'm older I prefer harder music and I have 2-3 songs I Iike, for example Engel. But it is still not my music. I only watched this video to see your reaction.

Finally! I am so thankful about your reaction. Whenever I watched a Rammstein reaction (I try to avoid it) everyone seemed to like them. And I don't get it. Parts of the lyrics here are taken from a very old children song. Rammstein maybe talented but they sound and look scary, agressive and brutal. They send a picture of Germany around the world, that I don't like. Them and Eskimo Callboy make me embarrassed about being German. I always wanna shout " Not every German is like this!" when I watch videos of them. So thank you very much for this reaction and for all your reactions ❤
