Eric Cartman I’ve been a MotoGP fanatic since Rossi was a kid (and that’s a looooong time!!). Like TT riders, they’re a different breed from us mere mortals. I ride with an ex TT racer. He’s mad yes, but not stupid.
Read some of these comments and I think the TT is a little misunderstood. The skill of the TT rider is as important as having massive bollocks. The TT rider needs to set up his bike to handle an infinite number of conditions likely to be met on this 37 odd mile course to give him maximum confidence to ring the bikes neck and if the rider wants to be a winner he must race to the max for every single mile. Don’t forget, 1 mistake could mean serious injury, even death. Contrast that with moto go. Make a mistake there and there are runoff areas, gravel pits etc to help minimise injury. Yes there have been deaths but thankfully not many. Now take a moto go rider and tell him to perform at the TT and I can guarantee he will fail. Likewise a TT rider would probably not make the grade in moto go, especially as the bikes these days are designed for 8 stone shortarses. I suppose what I’m trying to get at is it’s horses for courses. No disciplines skill trumps the other, but the TT races and it’s racers are like no other on earth and long may it continue.

I think that it is close to tracklimits. The bikes are already at a physical limit of whats possible in terms of putting power to the ground. They could make them probably faster, and theyre already restricting power to the bikes so they stay rideable.
the record at mugello is now 356,7 by dovizioso, made in 2019. Btw max speed is not the only thing that makes you fast around the track, they added winglets in the last years that help in many ways the acceleration phase out of the corners and in braking, but surely they add drag at top speed. The real limit of prototypes like motogp are the tyres and tank capacity, you can't just add 30-40 HP even if you could because in a 45 min race you would simply run out of gas or rubber.
