The backup lights come on when you remove the key for the same reason the headlights come on....its so you can see when walking around the back of the car in the dark, which is another clever GM idea.
You forgot the reverse light. The white light that turns on when you back up. Its beside the turn light. So there are 4 sets at the back. Just saying. Lol
