    Turin: "Malus has been a total raid boss this game!"
    Meanwhile, a nearly healing capped Crows of Khaine: "Am I a joke to you?"

    So 3 peasant spears got 4,811 value collectively, not sure what they were fighting across the game but I think that’s where the value inflation is coming from 😂

      They were solely attacking Malus for the entire match so that's the answer to your question.

      Yeah long spears are definitely overtuned way to tanky for a 300 gold cheap disposable infantry

    • @sandercohen9712
      @sandercohen9712 4 месяца назад +20

      They had to kill Malus twice over. Or thrice if you account for all of the healing. This also reveals why damage done indicator can be a little misleading, because 4000+ gold worth of damage done to a single entity like Malus doesn't mean that much when he is still alive. Had the same damage been done to the rest of his army, it would have been a different game.

    I feel like heavy cavalry like the Dread Knights here increases in value as the game goes on but is super vulnerable at the start. A full strength heavy cav unit in your back pocket can function as a sort of sweeper in late game since the high impact damage is usually enough to quickly break all the tattered units by then and opponents are less likely to have a good answer to it since they usually spam cheaper units to stabilise. Need to experiment more with that.

    • @emultra759
      @emultra759 4 месяца назад +2

      Yep, once the ranged lines have been softened up and BvL infantry can no longer be directed at will under ranged cover, heavy cavalry becomes a big headache to deal with.

    • @sandercohen9712
      @sandercohen9712 4 месяца назад

      Yeah that's been a thing with grails ever since they have been reworked.

    • @shiggydiggy6847
      @shiggydiggy6847 4 месяца назад +1

      Heavy cavalry has become better due to variety of reasons. Cavalry in general got speed buffs and cold one knights lost the rampage. Healing being stronger plays into their favor, though obviously this doesn't apply for druchi who can't do it. Due to change to ultra unit size artillery and lot of large monsters didn't get their damage adjusted so they are relatively weaker, which makes cavalry more attractive as an option. And while heavy infantry isn't a complete joke, they can't pick their fights and are generally more vulnerably to ranged and magic.

    • @sandercohen9712
      @sandercohen9712 4 месяца назад +1

      @@shiggydiggy6847 How do you define heavy infantry? Because the way I see it, heavy and elite infantry has been more viable now than at any point in history. Heavy infantry is the meta for SL, Kislev deploys a lot of heavy troops and elite infantry such as chosen, champions, bladesingers, swordmasters, temple guard are competitive or at least viable in a lot of match-ups.

    I noticed the Medusa absorbed tons of ranged fire, which is strange considering they don't have particularly high missile resist, could be their recoil animations when they get hit.

    Great game. I might've replaced one or two of the Witch Elves with Sisters of Slaughter as a late call-in. They don't have as much burst damage as witches, but the same speed (44), 20% missile block, and crazy leadership let them bounce between targets without getting gunned down as easily. They often don't route until they're down to like 5 models.
    I like the use of Dark Riders (Shields) - the bane of skirmish cavalry and light archers.

    Gg! I am surprised how much early game missile-damage failed against Malus, and how little impact the Cathay dragon had this game. The Cathay army started off with range weapons, but Turin managed to get them to spread out ... and fail. So much of the Cathay "army value" was beat-up units spread out around the map. Dark riders ... were clutch in redistributing the field capture weight. Cathay crowmen were surprisingly not impactful this matchup, maybe because Turin prioritized them immediately.

  • @PerennialSash
    @PerennialSash 4 месяца назад +1

    Shame to see that shades can't cut it in this matchup. Would it be worth trying cold one chariots, scourgerunners, or the raven heralds here? Crows are stupid fast, so maybe just generic dark rider xbows are the best picks. I'd almost wonder if a reaper bolt thrower would be worth taking, just to try shutting down some of those guns in the back.

    I wonder if the loss of points was from the Crowman crumbling. If they were summoned a couple times each, that’s a good chunk of gold that is lost whenever you get trampled on and disintegrate into the warp by a grumpy little Druchii.

    I don't know if live commentary is easier to do, or to edit, maybe it saves you a lot of time or there is a good amount of people who enjoy it over replay commentary, but I can't really understand why you choose to do it this way sometimes... Constant choppy movement (because you need to micro), commentary lagging sometimes at moments you need to actually focus... just why do it this way?

      Because its more engaging when he's seeing the same thing we are in real time and reacting to call ins and events on the battlefield instead of knowing whats about to happen ahead of time. Its like listening to sports commentators live compared to an after action report, there's just more energy and excitement when the host doesn't know what to expect.
      Are there moments that are infuriating, like seeing cav being left in spears for a solid 30 secs or multiple healthy dark riders sitting afk for a long while? Sure, but its still a more interesting viewing experience.
