Having been born and raised in Alaska and now living in the lower 48, I will say the people in AK are unique. It really comes down to taking care of your neighbors. In such harsh winters your neighbors may be the people that save your life. Community is everything in AK.
A unique thing in Alaska - there are many places off the road system, so Ted Stevens Airport is our major form of shared transportation, into, out of and around our state. It is almost a rarely to catch a plane and not see someone you know.
Alaska is a "small town". Lived there for years and miss it so much! What you saw in the airport is part of what makes it so special❤. Love Hawaii too! My parents lived on Kauai. Fun watching these videos!
This video is so beautiful! Can't wait for the Hawaii vlog! I wanted to mention - I'm currently working on the Traveler hoodie (inspired by your beautiful FO), and yesterday I watched the Traveler section from all the podcast episodes searching for one specific thing. It was funny because in the last one I watched, you mentioned that you bookmark all your videos just in case somebody wants to go back and watch all the chapters for one specific project, which was exactly what I was doing! I wanted to give you some positive reinforcement, because that feature was utilized exactly as it was meant to be for me, and it was very helpful!!
We haven't been to Maui, but honeymooned on The Big Island and drove up the saddle road between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Even there we were above the clouds and it was so cold! Such a unique and surreal experience. Then we drove down to Kona after sunset and it was so dark 🤯
I am really enjoying all these videos from the different states that you visit. My sister lives in Alaska and has been wanting me to come visit. I may have to take her up on it.
Alaska has always been on my bucket list buts its a long way from the bottom of the world(according to google its 21hours) but looking at your few shorts of Hawaii that also kooks amazing so maybe we could combine the two.
Your T is looking fabulous …….i think I would probably use the rest of the main colour and then start the contrast ribbing early ……maybe do it as a split hem …….i think I would also make the pocket with some narrow stripes using all the contrast yarns ❤ Another fabulous episode …….loving seeing all your different recording ‘studios’ ❤🎉
Maybe you can do a few things stripes of the other contrasting colors towards the bottom of the tee which would make the color discrepancy less noticeable?
First off, I love the sweater and I hope the new yarn matches up for you. I was married on Maui many years ago. :) While we were there we did drive the "road to Hana", which if you know you know. lol Oh boy, very twisty. Drove up to Haleakala and it was SO cold for us too, and so so windy. I didn't have a coat but i did have a jacket and that was not enough. We didn't stay up there long and got right back in our rental car. I hope the rest of your stay there is fun! It's a beautiful place. Take care!
As for running shirt on your yarn, I understand that by law there can be up to a 5-10% shortage or overage on skeins from what the label says. Maybe you got three skeins that were all short.
If you like the cropped look, the T looks like it may be long enough from the top of the shoulders for the rest of the yarn to be enough to make it to the hem and then have the hem in a contrast colour. Just an idea as I can imagine myself in your shoes; I’d be unbearable if I couldn’t knit. 😂 Enjoy your travels!
Ooh I did not think of that! I'll have to see if Kent really wants a longer hat or not. The thought of getting it finished earlier is sounding mighty tempting haha

That's incredible!
Lots of wonderful food and alpaca yarn! What’s not to love? Thanks Natalie x

Ahh the Traveler is the best! Oh I'm so happy the chapters helped you find what you were looking for!! 👏🏻

Oh you definitely should! It's such an amazing place!
What fun to podcast from hawaii!! Great episode.

I think I would be using some of that pretty red to make skinny stripes on the bottom third of the torso.
That's a great idea!

Hello from Swansea, Illinois.😊
First off, I love the sweater and I hope the new yarn matches up for you. Aww sounds like I had such a similar experience to you! Thank you!
Where is your tank from?
Love the podcast, inspiring me to get my musselburgh out of hibernation 🤗

That rooster is too cute sounding 😊🐓🩷🎵
Right?! They're everywhere here!

Trying on a WIP on an airplane is epic!
Haha I really wanted to know in that moment if the sleeve was long enough so I could start the ribbing 😅
❤😊
When I ran out of yarn on a project I decided to measure the ball: the 100 yard ball actually measured 90 yards…10% less!
Yep. I understand by law the length can be 20% over or under the amount on the ball band.
Why don’t you add another ball of yarn to make the hat long enough to have a brim? It won’t matter what color it is because it’s in the inside.
Ooh I did not think of that! I'll have to see if Kent really wants a longer hat or not. The thought of getting it finished earlier is sounding mighty tempting haha
@@KnittyNatty I am doing that with a Musselburgh as I wanted to do matching handwarmers.
