This record grew on me fast. I'm just happy to have a favorite ROCK band Rocking again. And I can't help but love 999. It's got that Siamese Dream "Mayonaise" feel to it. Long live THIS Pumpkins! 🤟
Smashing Pumpkins, now that's my primary school. I should do some relistens as an adult and we'll see how the new one presents itself. My friend was seeing them live in Poland a few weeks ago and said they were fantastic
It's pretty good. A lot of these songs are kinda monochromatic. Billy's vocals are kinda samey and without much range from track to track. The songs with big hooks are great, but a lot of them seem a bit undercooked to me. Real drums from Jimmy are a plus. A big nit pick for me (for most of their recent songs) is that the titles aren't obvious from the lyrics. Why not name these songs after the repeated chorus lines? Billy gets a little pretentious instead.
I tried listening to it this morning and I couldn't even get past the first song. At what point will Corgan realize he isn't the angsty kid he used to be and leave the Pumpkins to rest or at least just tour with the old material

No need to qualify..its a solid 7.5 record. Much better than the 4-5.5s theyve been releasing over the past 24 years

It’s far from perfect, but we’ve had to listen to a lot of crap from them. It’s probably the best we’re gonna get from them these days!
