We have a K-max buzzing up here atm helping the DNRC put out lightning strikes, ours is out of bozeman (which is weird because we are closer to sandpoint) this was one of m favorite helicopters finally seeing one flying was really awesome, Great video.
I'm quite surprised someone hasn't devised a way to refill the brush fire trucks via this method. Just seems like it's a far quicker method to allow them to keep putting water on fire vs leaving to reload.
Forget the water bucket, look at the "rotor downwash" in the grass @ 1:03. Just hover above a short line of fire and "blow" the damn thing out. Just like you're using one human to blow out a birthday cake with 100 candles, but 100 - 500 times the scale.
Thanks for posting this! It was well edited, too! I'm curious: are there any special flight characteristics of the K-Max? I fly R-22's and I would love to eventually transition to this beast (It's one of my favorite aircraft and I'm in love with the design).
As you move through your career you will find each A/C have their own characteristics. The Kmax is a bit of a different animal for sure. With no hydraulics some find it quite fatiguing to fly in certain operations.
Nice work by the pilot. All kinds of contract issues with PPE and 133/91 issues with flying over built up areas with external load. Skilled pilot but this is not how to do it.
Thanks for the comments. All PPE and 133 regulations were adhered to under USFS contract. With multiple A/C flying on the fire air routes were set up to and from the fire.
Would much rather hear the aircraft than a synthesizer.
blancolirio recommended your video for great video shots from the KMAX in action - very nicely done video and music choice
Also sent here by blancolirio, and glad he did. So awesome to see this unique craft in action. Thanks for making this video.
blancolirio (Juan Brown) sent me here too. Pretty cool stuff!
Love seeing you guys coming back to BJC.

Juan Brown suggested this site. A great demo of its capabilities. A Crap soundtrack.
Juan Browne promised me a keg of Coors if I'd visit you here.

Mt Hood
Superb machine, but the music covered his precious sound 😡
Good video except for the loud music , I guess you were going for a movie effect massive fail
The video is coming up "not available" for me
You have to swear oath to Blancolirio channel first.

Just like we can do without blancolirio, we can do without this music, which has to be among the worst I've ever heard.
