      I've just got some cheap supermarket candles and a Christmas present candle. I'm more for using nebulizing diffusers, but am giving candles a go and always had problems with tunnelling. I've seen videos where they recommend heating in an oven, but this looks a much safer option.

    I'm not into the candle scene like some of you here but I think I can assume we're all here for a similar reason. So I wanted to let you know that Yankee makes this lil metal decorative lid thing that you put on the top of your candle after you lite it an so long as you keep it on the there your candle will never tunnel. It basically does the same thing as the foil trick in the video but I guess it looks pretty an keeps it from ever starting

      I stopped going to yankee candle because their quality has gone down. Also you shouldn’t need that accessory for your candle to burn evenly.
      Kringle candles have 2 wicks for that same reason that the wax for the size of the candle should have 2 wicks not one.
      Also Kringle candle was the original owners of yankee before they sold it to whoever owns it now. I Can tell you the quality and care of packaging is amazing. Try Kringle and you’ll never need to use that accessory and the aromas they offer is amazing!

    Great video. I followed everything in this (but with a different candle, probably not on par with this channel) and despite following all these tips, the tunneling is happening on the first burn. It has broken all the rules. It arrived today, and 3 hours into the first burn the puddle was nowhere near the edge. Almost five hours in (and the max burn recommended was four hours) and there is a clear tunnel wall. It’s a 3.5 inch diameter candle and five hours in, the surface is still not liquid. No dark soot and no mushrooming, but I don’t know whether to let it burn until the surface finally melts, or snuff it and get foil tomorrow to fix the tunneling. For reference, it’s a Sweet Water Decor Salt & Sea candle. I bought an Apotheke candle as well, but it has not arrived yet and I wanted to try this stuff you speak about. Thanks again.

    FYI from a candle maker: If you as the consumer have to do the aluminum foil method on the candle then the company is at fault. The wick size is not big enough to melt the entire diameter. You will have to continue to do it as you burn the candle down and that is not pretty/aesthetic at all. If you're paying for "luxury" it needs to be "luxury" quality ❤

And they sometimes have stronger fragrance throw depending on the fragrance concentration. Trapp has some really nice options for wax melts.

    hi! just bougth my first voluspa baltic amber candle....and im watching all your excellent guide...and thanks for that, I have a question, when should I cut the wick after the first use? should I wait until the wax is solid again to cut it after the first use? thanks you! you ar awsome!

    • @DetailedDream
      @DetailedDream  3 года назад +1

      Hey there! Thank you so much! Voluspa is a fantastic brand with the use of coconut wax! With wicks, you may need to trim it before the first use as it may be a little long fresh out the box. You definitely want to wait until the wax is solid again to prevent part of the wick falling into the melted wax. It’s a pain fishing it out lol. The method I use is trimming before every burn of it’s needed. And you can most certainly use scissors! I’ve even seen people use nail clippers lol.

    While it might not be glamorous, a little press 'n seal wrap over the top of a candle is the best way to help keep a candle's fragrance from off-gassing during storage. That is, if the candle doesn't come with a lid. I cut a square just big enough to seal the top and put them back in the box, as the box alone doesn't really provide much of a seal.

    I've been burning candles for about a week, and DEFINIITELY adhere to setting a timer every time, right from the beginning. I DO extend the time if I see that the wax hasn't melted all the way to the edge in the timeframe of "1 hour per inch of diameter". I have a few that didn't cooperate and need to use the aluminum foil trick. I'm also considering a lamp-style warmer to handle this.

I am still living with my parents and don't really have room to use them at the moment, so I wanna store them for a few months. As of now, I have put them in their original packaging and put those into a larger cardboard box. Is there anything else I can do to make sure they keep their fragrance as much as possible?

    • @DetailedDream
      @DetailedDream  Год назад

      Thank you so much! As far as storing candles, they are perfectly fine inside of the box. As long as they are out of direct sunlight or humidity, they should be fine until you're ready to use them. Candles tend to follow the same principals as parfums. The only thing is taking the wax into consideration.

      Yes. keeping the lid on will help with the longevity of the candle fragrance and if it doesn't come with a lid I would just keep it in the packaging :)

    I notice when you do that tunneling technique it helps with the throw if the candles. Increases the fragrances
