Embellish your patio this summer by creating your own classic fountain. This is a quick and easy project that you and your family will love. Begin this project by drilling a hole at the bottom of the planter using a 1¼ inch drill bit. Next, assemble the TotalPond Container Fountain Kit with Light and determine the height you’d like the water feature to sit. Be sure to estimate enough slack in the cord so you can position the pump in the center of the planter, we recommend marking the height on the cord. Run the cord through the newly drilled hole. Use the epoxy to fill the hole around the cord at your mark. Wait at least an hour and a half for the epoxy to harden. When the container is sealed successfully, place the five small pavers under the planter to stabilize the urn. These small pavers also help to provide space for the cord running out of the bottom of the urn. After the planter is positioned, stack the six paver blocks into the planter. We used a basic black planter to disguise the paver blocks. Position the assembled TotalPond® Container Fountain Kit with light on top of the black planter. Begin to fill with water until the pump is fully submerged. For a finishing touch, add three bags or more of the black pebbles around the base of the planter. Plug it in and enjoy our new container urn water feature.

can you fill the urn with rocks up to the top to give the birds a resting spot. Also does the bubbler have a regulator to change the water flow if you want a smaller spray?

What kind of epoxy did you use? Why does it look black? It also looks like putty. Will flex paste seal the bottom through which you are running the wire?
Hi @gladiator2311! That epoxy used to be included with the Container Fountain Kit with Light. Our product has since been updated to include a rubber stopper, so no epoxy is needed. The rubber stopper enables a seamless power cord transition through the bottom or side of your container and creates a watertight seal. Using a flex paste could provide additional protection. Hello +Flora, an epoxy was used on the bottom of the urn to keep it water-tight.
Having a huge orange electrical cord running across your yard is not only ugly but its dangerous. You probably should tell people that the one you ran across the lawn is not a good permanent power solution.
