    I got the 20" barrel version, & its shorter than my vz2008 & my mini 14, only a few hundred rounds of 193 ball through it & no faults , very accurate, this is my new groundhog slayer.😉😁

    "Clip" comment aside (doesn't bother me), what does concern me is that you did not talk at all about the shooting experience. I appreciate you mentioning the walking bolt/screw issues and the light primer strike issue, but I would have preferred to also hear about how it compares to an AR15 with a similar barrel length or one with similar length and shorter barrel. What's the recoil impulse like between the two? Which platform is more balanced? Are there any accuracy issues? etc.

      Light primer strikes couldve very well have been from primers being recessed into the casing a little too much

    Mine has had the screws walk out which was an easy fix. Mine will not use gi mags as they drop out. Pmags work great. 2 big issues I have is mine continually breaks firing pins around 1k rounds. The other is my top rail expands with heat and I get vertical stringing as it shifts my red dots point of aim. I've tried leaving the rear most screw loose as keltec suggests, and I've used rock set to tighten the screws and they haven't moved. I've used the dot on other AR's with no issues, but perhaps it's malfunctioned. I'll have to test that next.

  • @kiltedgunsmith
    @kiltedgunsmith 2 года назад +2

    American eagle ammo is actually pretty crappy. I've used it in different guns and calibers and light strikes happen. The primers get seated a little too far.
    Also not cleaning out the firing pin and bolt properly can cause light strikes over time. As most people don't think about or ever deep clean. Gunked up parts can cause malfunctioning to occur. I see extraction and light strike issues on guns especially AR'S and old shotguns, hunting rifles because they are never cleaned/ oiled in the bolt or extractors. Great video though!

    I just think you had bad ammunition. My first time out if I fired 200 rounds of Winchester white box xm193 55 grn I have absolutely no issues whatsoever not one light primer strike. In addition I shot an additional hundred rounds of wolf Steelcase polycoat again no light primer strikes at all. If you take the cartridge out after it failed to fire and there is a dimple on the primer it just means that you had a defective primer on that round.

    Clip? Not trying to be a snob. It's pretty obvious what is meant, but I know more people than not, who would seriously question the credibility of a review that refers to a magazine as a clip. Not a problem for me. I wouldn't say it, but I don't get spun out about it.

    Pretty sure you have the 20" there. I'm not aware of Kel-Tec ever manufacturing barrel lengths other than 17.3" and 20". They didn't make a 18.5" specifically for us in Canada.
    I also have the exact same mount for my LPVO, and since I'm a lefty it stays out of my way with the charging handle. You might as well just flip the mount around, it's cantilevered for use on an AR and rail space is not an issue for the RDB.

    You mention using Blue Loctite. Have you considered using Purple Loctite? Purple Loctite threadlocker is considered to have low adhesion strength. It can be disassembled with low torque with the same hand tool used to install it. It is available in a liquid form, and once applied to the threads it will cure in 24 hours. The most common version is Loctite 222.

    Mine runs flawless with m855 from federal and Winchester. with a truglo red and green dot I was making one hole at 25 yards. I loved it.
    Then I tried it at 100 yards. What a disaster. I tried making adjustments to my sight, and now I hit absurdly high left. can't figure out if "UP" means point of impact up, or if it means the reticle moves up (poi down). I have the same issue with "LEFT".
    During the same range trip I had no problem sighting in with an AR (Smith and Wesson) with a vortex 1x8 and another AR (BCM upper palmetto lower) with a Burris. On the magnified scopes "UP" means point of impact moves up.

    • @luckyomen
      @luckyomen Год назад

      I'd swap for a better optic. Truglo is slightly better that a toy by most standards. Primary Arms makes some good quality stuff for around $200-300 that would go well on an RDB

    • @kevinclause4p55p5
      @kevinclause4p55p5 Год назад

      @@luckyomen in the last 10 months something came loose on the truglo. I kept re zeroing, wasting ammo, and having accuracy problems at 100.
      I removed it, and "accidentally" left it on the bench.
      I put a holosun 507 green on it. Now I get 2.5 moa at 100 yards. It's nothing to be proud of, but I still like the gun. If I was going to do it again, I'd just get the Magpul flip up sights. They are dirt cheap, very sturdy, and very accurate.
      Alternatively, get a sub 2000. They are more accurate, much lighter, it's cheaper to shoot 9mm, the gun itself is cheaper, it comes with built in sights, and I actually like the trigger. Id pick the version that takes Glock 19 mags because they also accept the 33 rounders.

    The problem is the Springs from Bolt Stop, change and the problem it's fixet.
    a steel nib of a ballpoint pen is sufficient as a replacement.
    [DE]
    Wenn man die Federn beim Bolt Stop ersetzt gibt es keine Ladehemmungen mehr, eine Rostfreie Feder eines Kugelschreiber genügt um 2 genug starke Federn zu bekommen.
    Die Triger Feder kann auch ersetzt werden wenn 2.2 zu viel ist.
    Zusätzliche Anpassungen bekommt man auch hier:
    lifeindustries.net/dir
    Wer beim Hülsenauswurf mit einer Breitflachzange am unteren Ende des Hülsenauswurfblech ein innengerichtetes Bördchen (20° bis 45°) macht, hat einen besseren Auswurf.
    Wenn die RDB im Schlamm war, vor dem ersten Schuss hinten beim Hülsenauswurf kurz ausspülen oder Ausklopfen dann gibt es kein verklemen.
    Da die RDB wie das AR-15 funktioniert aber keinen Manuell Vorstoss hat (was es auch nicht Braucht) genügt es beim nicht ganz verschliessen einen leichten Schlag auf die Unterseite des gesteckte Magazin zu geben (war nach 1670 Schuss am Stück passiert) aber wenn man die Verschlussfede anstatt Fett nur mit
    Brunox TOP-KETT High-Tech Schmiermittel behandelt hat dieses Problem nicht, war selbst erstaunt, hatte danach selbst bei 2000 Schuss kein Problem.
    Ach ja, die Hinterschaftschrauben solltet ihr mit LockTide oder Mutterstopkleber behandeln. Klar die Schrauben bekommt man locker aber es nervt wenn man sie verliert.

    Short stroke gas, rotary bolt has 1:7” Rifling.
    1-in-7 Inches Twist Rate barrels will stabilize bullets of up to 90 grains, and can handle the 70- to 77-grain bullets at just about any velocity, which makes it well suited for carbines with very short barrels. but won't shoot 55- or 62-grain FMJs worth a damn. using a bullet that's too heavy for your barrel's twist is a virtual promise of poor accuracy and ineffective terminal performance.
