      So many British dramas have the best knits! I want to make them all. And thank you! You've made a really good point here about inspiration. Thank you! I knit the stanleydale scarf and really enjoyed it- the lace pattern really helps ease the feeling of endlessness with a scarf, and the finished object is so so lovely to wear! 😊 Lots of exciting plans for 2025! Looking forward to following along ❤

      I really hope I can pull it off! I feel like I’m being a little ambitious but also have so missed working with Shetland wool. It really feels the absolute best on my hands. I can’t believe I overlooked Melby before lol. It’s such a cute pattern!

    I use my hot water bottle so much more ever since I knit that cover! Its such a satisfying knit ❤ The Bressay dress does look so versatile, I haven’t really thought of knit dresses, but you've got me thinking... 🤔 your goals are fantastic, love how you're really digging into Shetland wool and colorwork. You've got this!

      Ahh this is great to hear! I feel like it would be the same for me too. After I made the Soorik I realized that I really like wearing a longer knitted item. It’s so cozy! So now I want more haha. Thank you! I think it will be a fun year. ☺️🤎

    2025 will definitely be the year of colour-work for me! I've finally started my Peigi Waistcoat by Alice Starmore, Virtual Yarns. I also finally caved and ordered a Sidsel Hoivik kit, her Amore sweater. I've been eyeing her patterns for a long time, and when she had a sale on New Year's Eve day, I went for it. I'm loving all the knits on this season of Shetland...I like your idea of re-creating Tosh's sweater. One of my goals this year is to knit a dress with Nutiden. I never hear people talk about how knitted dresses hold up in the bum area...that's what's held me off trying one before now 🤔

    • @caprinecottage
      @caprinecottage  12 дней назад

      Oooh how exciting! Peigi is beautiful and Amore is so cute! Congratulations on going for it and getting the kit! So many good knits in season 9! A Nutiden dress sounds dreamy, so far I haven't had any issues with wear on my one knitted dress but I also don't wear it in any environments that might snag so🤷‍♀️ I hope it works out for you!🤎

    Hi Anne! So appreciate your notes in description box. You have given me a lot of pattern inspiration. I have many of the same books as you but I forget to scan through them for inspo. I caught the colorwork bug last year when I knit my first colorwork sweater (Obsidian) and now I want to try more traditional fair isle patterns in 2025. I definitely want to knit a fair isle vest, maybe a cowl, and I've also got the riggies beanie in sight as a quick next project. My bucket list project is the Yell by Marie Wallin (check out the Gentle Knitter's version if you haven't yet) but right now it is out of my comfort zone.. Happy knitting!

      @caprinecottage  17 дней назад

      Hii! I’m so happy you find it helpful! Browsing through knitting books and imagining how I would make the patterns is my favorite past time lol. Colorwork knitting is so addictive isn’t it? Once I started I couldn’t stop. The Obsidian Sweater is such a gorgeous pattern, a great choice! Ooh I’ll have to check out Yell and her version, I have yet to take on a Marie Wallin pattern but find her style to be so beautiful. You’ll know when you’re ready and will be so happy to make it. 🤎🤎

    I love that you have so many plans for this year! I tend to be more of a "at some point, but this thing next" person - maybe I should try setting some goals for the year and see if that helps me to be more organised (and learn my limitations!). I usually aim for 2 pairs of socks every 3 weeks (if they're plain socks - just 1 in 3 weeks if they have a pattern of some kind), but I'm behind with that already because I've been busy getting the cuffs knitted for 10 (not a typo - ten!) pairs (the ribbing hurts my finger sometimes, so I like to have cuffs ready and waiting). I have finished my first paint by numbers, and I'm hoping to do at least 3 more this year. Hoping to finish my first embroidery sampler, build a book nook, and finally tackle a real needle felting project - oh, and try to make some beaded jewellery!!
    I hope 2025 brings you much crafting joy as well as the regular kind!

    • @caprinecottage
      @caprinecottage  17 дней назад +1

      For someone who doesn’t have plans I still think you’re so productive! That’s amazing! I really understand wanting to get the ribbing out of the way. I find it to be physically difficult as well, so hard on the hands.
      I like setting goals because it’s satisfying to cross things off the list and like you said learn what you are capable of achieving. But I also understand why it can feel not good.
      All of your other crafty projects sound so nice too! I haven’t done a paint by number in ages but have really enjoyed them in the past. I also want to build one of those book nooks! They look so cute and fun to make! I also hope this year brings you both regular and crafty joy too!

    Loving all your plans for 2025. Ive got a few of them on list too. I'm just finishing my Lumme pullover and my next project will be the Nordic Bloom but the vest version. I need more vests in my life for my dresses too. I've been wanting to knit the cloudbow for ages and you've just inspired me to cast that one on this year. I have two mini skein advents that I've not yet used and they go well together so that would be a good option.. Isn't the Bressay just cute..... I love the pockets. Looking forward to seeing all your plans coming to fruition on here. Thank you for sharing.

      😍 Thank you! Ooh the Nordic Bloom in the vest version is such a great idea. It really is such a struggle with the dresses/sleeves issue. Luckily we can make for ourselves. We can do it! (The cloud bow) haha I feel like an advent would be so perfect for it too! ☺️ Happy Knitting!

      It's a mixed bag for me. I guess I didn't mean for it to come across as though I didn't like making more online trendy projects. Hello, I've just seen your last podcast and answer about. I do the same as you for my knitted garments : I wash it one time per year, when I store it for summer. Even for the ones that I wear all year. I put it outside to air it, and after It smell so fresh 😊! I knitted vest last year and I wear it a lot, during spring just with blouses, and during winter under big cardigans. I've knitted 3 Pelica vest by Rosa Pomar, and I am actually knitting Cameo by Orlane Sucche. Beautiful patterns !

    Love your 2025 list. I loved the colour palette used in the new series of Shetland, everyone wears blue! Even the decor is blue in many of the shots. The heritage yoke would be stunning in blue. Looking forward to seeing your Tarra too, I am going to frog mins again! As the colors just aren't working. Maybe I need to use blue!

    • @caprinecottage

      Yay! 🤎 So there are a few things that help with her being in the house. The first being that she does not get free run. She has her own room and then can be in the kitchen and has to be supervised anywhere else. She also has been in the house since she was only 4 weeks old (that's how old she was when the fire happened) so we have worked carefully to teach her to be potty/litter trained. She very rarely, almost never, has a pee accident but does drop beans outside of her litter box which I then sweep up and wipe the floor. Luckily our kitchen is just cheap linoleum. She also knows a handful of commands/tricks.😂 She's a good girl. I can't imagine what my outside goats would get up to if they came inside though. Sounds like total chaos. Sorry for the long answer lol.
      But yes! I'm loving Gudrun's new videos on here. Thank you so much! I appreciate you joining me 🤎
